Description: Former Vikings and Seahawks tight end John Carlson has reached a two-year, $4.65 million agreement with the Cardinals. SOURCE: Ian Rapoport, NFL Network
Insight: That didn't take long. Carlson was released by Minnesota less than 48 hours ago. Carlson has never caught more than 55 passes in any of his five seasons in the league. We doubt that changes in Arizona.
3/5/2014 8:13:00 PM
Description: Minnesota released tight end John Carlson on Tuesday.
Insight: Carlson saw some action while Kyle Rudolph was hurt last season but that only lasted until he got injured himself (concussion in Week 14). Carlson will be 30 in May and it's fair to wonder how much he has left in the tank.
12/19/2013 5:19:00 PM
Description: Vikings TE John Carlson (concussion) experienced post-concussion symptoms after Wednesday's practice, according to Chip Scoggins of the Star Tribune.
Insight: Carlson was cleared to return after missing Week 15 but the recurring symptoms mean he'll have to go through the NFL's concussion protocol again. He's highly questionable for Week 16, leaving the Vikings with Rhett Ellison and Chase Ford at tight end for a second straight week.
12/18/2013 5:37:00 PM
Description: Vikings TE John Carlson (concussion) is expected to play in Week 16, according to Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
Insight: Carlson missed Sunday's game against the Eagles due to a concussion, but he's been cleared to return. He's a TE2.
12/13/2013 2:00:00 PM
Description: Vikings TE John Carlson (concussion) missed another practice and has been ruled out for Week 15 against Philadelphia.
Insight: The Vikings are down to Rhett Ellison and Chase Ford neither of which has shown much.
12/11/2013 5:05:00 PM
Description: Vikings TE John Carlson (concussion) missed Wednesday's practice.
Insight: Carlson caught 19 passes for 264 yards and a touchdown in four games as a replacement for Kyle Rudolph (foot) before suffering a concussion Sunday at Baltimore.
1/18/2011 10:03:00 AM
Description: The Seattle Times reports Carlson (concussion) returned to Seattle on Monday.
Insight: Carlson landed awkwardly and suffered a concussion on Sunday against Chicago, but this is a good sign. He will look to rebound from a dismal 2010 season in 2011. (RapidDraft.com)
12/13/2010 4:28:00 PM
Description: Seahawks TE John Carlson was not on the field when the team ran a two-tight end set as their first play against the 49ers. SOURCE: SEATTLE TIMES
Insight: Cam Morrah and Chris Baker played ahead of Carlson, which means he is really in the dog house with the coaching staff. Carlson has just 26 receptions and 257 yards on the season.
11/1/2010 4:02:00 PM
Description: Carlson had three receptions for 47 yards to lead the Seahawks in both categories in Sunday's loss to Oakland.
Insight: Carlson remains ownable as a TE2, but his fantasy upside is limited. (RapidDraft.com)
9/27/2010 12:00:00 PM
Description: Carlson had five receptions for 61 yards and a touchdown against the Chargers on Sunday.
Insight: Carlson was targeted nine times in the game, and is a solid TE2 in most fantasy leagues. (RapidDraft.com)
9/20/2010 1:02:00 PM
Description: Carlson had five catches for 48 yards against the Broncos on Sunday.
Insight: Carlson was targeted a team-high 10 times in the game, so hopefully that can continue and he can be a little more efficient down the road. (RapidDraft.com)
8/30/2010 10:04:00 AM
Description: Danny O'Neil of the Seattle Times thinks it's "now ok to become officially concerned" that Carlson will not be a big part of the Seahawks' passing game this season.
Insight: Carlson is worth considering as a TE2, but not much more than that at this point. (Rapid Draft.com)
1/5/2010 2:42:00 PM
Description: According to the Seattle Post Intelligencer, Seahawks' QB Matt Hasselbeck is already lobbying for Carlson's role in the passing game to expand next season.
Insight: Carlson was often regulated to being a blocker as Seattle battled various injuries along the offensive line. He did end the season strong with touchdowns in each of the last four games. He could be a nice sleeper going into next season. (SportsBuff.com)
12/1/2009 10:19:00 AM
Description: Carlson had just two catches for 14 yards in Seattle's Week 12 win over St. Louis.
Insight: Carlson has not been productive for quite awhile now. He is not worth starting unless you're desperate. (SportsBuff.com)
10/28/2009 11:01:00 AM
Description: Danny O'Neil of the Seattle Times theorizes that Carlson's numbers are down because of all the injuries the Seahawks' offensive line has had this season.
Insight: This is fairly obvious, since Carlson has been needed as a blocker in order to keep Matt Hasselbeck upright. Until he can be used more frequently in the passing game, Carlson's fantasy upside is limited. (SportsBuff.com)
Hot9/14/2009 10:08:00 AM
Description: Carlson had six catches for 95 yards and two touchdowns against St. Louis on Sunday.
Insight: Carlson should have a solid season as long as QB Matt Hasselbeck stays healthy. But don't expect games like this every week. (SportsBuff.com)
Hot6/20/2009 1:22:00 PM
Description: The team's official site reports that teammates and coaches are predicting a breakout season for the second-year tight end.
Insight: Carlson led the team with 55 receptions as a rookie last year. With the addition of WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh, it's tough to imagine a drastic spike in Carlson's numbers -- even with Matt Hasselbeck returning. Either way, though, he's a solid fantasy starter in pretty much any league. (SportsBuff.com)
4/14/2009 12:17:00 AM
Description: Carlson caught 55 passes for 627 yards and five touchdowns in his rookie season with the Seahawks in 2008.
Insight: Carlson burst onto the fantasy scene last season, emerging as a solid number one TE. Even though the signing of T.J. Houshmanzadeh hurts his fantasy value slightly, Carslon can still be considered a number one TE heading into the 2009 season. (SportsBuff.com)
12/17/2008 4:53:00 PM
Description: Carlson has 51 catches for 601 yards this season, both franchise records for a TE. He is a solid play at No. 1 TE in Week 16.
Insight: Carlson had 71 yards last week and continues to impress in the Mike Holmgren passing scheme. (SportsBuff.com)
