Description: Tampa Bay coach Lovie Smith already has named Josh McCown the starting quarterback for the 2014 season, according to Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times. The Buccaneers signed McCown away from the Bears on Wednesday.
Insight: Looks like the Mike Glennon era is over already. McCown had his best season as a pro in Marc Trestman's system last season, throwing for 1,829 yards, 13 TDs and one INT in eight games and posting a 109 QB rating. Smith's conservative offense won't allow McCown to duplicate that level of production.

3/12/2014 2:25:00 PM
Description: Josh McCown will be a Buccaneer in 2014.
Insight: The two sides reached a deal moments ago. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, it's a two-year agreement. This certainly isn't good news for Mike Glennon (19 TD, 83.9 rating last season).

Description: According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, former Bears quarterback Josh McCown is likely to end up either in Houston or Tampa Bay.
Insight: The Texans are looking at McCown as a stop gap for whatever rookie quarterback they end up drafting in May. Of course, McCown would be reunited with former Chicago coach Lovie Smith if he signed with the Buccaneers. The Jets are also said to be interested in McCown, though Schefter considers them a longshot.

Insight: Why would he? The 34-year-old McCown should be one of the most sought after quarterbacks on the open market this offseason. His 109.0 QB rating this past season for Chicago was a career-high.

12/12/2013 2:15:00 PM
Description: Bears backup QB Josh McCown put together a great streak as Jay Cutler's replacement, but Cutler has been named the starter for Week 15.
Insight: McCown threw for 348 or more yards in each of the last three games with nine touchdown passes and just one interceptions. Fantasy owners will be sad to see him sit.

11/18/2013 3:05:00 PM
Description: Bears backup QB Josh McCown will start again in Week 12 against the St. Louis Rams with Jay Cutler already having been ruled out due to an ankle injury.
Insight: McCown has won both his starts this season, but knows there is no QB controversy and that when healthy Cutler is the starter. He's face a tough Rams pass rush Sunday. McCown has been more balanced in his targeting Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery than Cutler.

11/11/2013 3:19:00 PM
Description: Bears backup QB Josh McCown will start again in Week 11 with Jay Cutler already having been ruled out due to an ankle injury.
Insight: McCown was solid in both starts when Cutler was sidelined by a groing injury in Week 7 and 9. He's likely to start in Week 12 as well, though facing the Rams' pass rush isn't fun.

10/20/2013 6:10:00 PM
Description: Bears backup QB Josh McCown completed 14-of-20 for 204 yards and a touchdown in relief of Jay Cutler (groin) Sunday against the Redskins.
Insight: McCown was able to get the ball to Alshon Jeffery (four catches, 105 yards) and Brandon Marshall (6-75) while hitting Martellus Bennett for a fourth-quarter TD. The Bears have a bye in Week 8 but if McCown has to play in Week 9 at Green Bay fantasy owners will still be able to use Chicago's skill-position players.

11/13/2012 2:12:00 PM
Description: Quarterback Josh McCown is expected to be signed by the Chicago Bears, according to Jeff Dickerson.
Insight: After what we saw from Jay Cutler's backup Jason Campbell, McCown couldn't help but be an upgrade. The Bears face the tough San Francisco 49ers defense this weekend, so even a healthy Cutler probably wouldn't be a viable fantasy option in Week 11.

8/31/2012 7:21:00 PM
Description: Quarterback Josh McCown has been released by the Chicago Bears.
Insight: McCown threw for two touchdowns and four interceptions in three games for the Bears in 2011. With McCown no longer on the team, former Redskins and Raiders QB Jason Campbell will be the backup to starter Jay Cutler this season.

Description: With OC Chris Palmer and WRs coach Dave Ragone now in Tennessee, UFL passing leader Josh McCown could be an option at quarterback. SOURCE: PRO FOOTBALL TALK
Insight: All three were together last season with the Hartford Colonials, so McCown would know the system right off the bat. However, he shouldn't be counted on to compete for a starting job. McCown hasn't been relevant in years.

5/3/2010 9:11:00 PM
Description: ESPN.com reports McCown is lobbying for a chance to play for the Bears.
Insight: McCown has history in Mike Martz's offense from their time together in Detroit, and Chicago has a need for a veteran backup QB. So there could be a fit for the two sides. (SportsBuff.com)

4/20/2010 11:45:00 AM
Description: The Chicago Tribune reports the Bears are "believed to have considered" McCown as a posssible post-draft signing.
Insight: McCown could be a fit as Jay Cutler's backup, as he would not be perceived as a threat to win the starting job and may come cheaper than Marc Bulger. (SportsBuff.com)

3/15/2010 11:40:00 AM
Description: Darin Gantt of the Rock Hill Herald reports the Panthers view McCown as a fall-back plan if they can't find another veteran QB to compete with Matt Moore.
Insight: It's extremely unlikely McCown would be given a real chance to win the starting job is he was brought back to Carolina. (SportsBuff.com)

3/3/2010 10:44:00 PM
Description: The Arizona Republic reports that speculation McCown will sign with the Cardinals is unfounded.
Insight: McCown is about to become an unrestricted free agent, and he started his NFL career with Arizona but they aren't likely to be interested. Wherever he winds up landing, he will be no more than a backup. (SportsBuff.com)

Doubtful9/14/2009 3:19:00 PM
Description: According to the Rock Hill Herald, McCown (left knee/foot) is unlikely to be active for Week 2 after suffering knee and foot injuries against Philadelphia on Sunday.
Insight: Matt Moore would be Jake Delhomme's backup against Atlanta, but Panthers' head coach John Fox has not ruled out signing another QB. (SportsBuff.com)

6/1/2009 9:47:00 AM
Description: The Charlotte Observer reports that McCown leads Matt Moore in the race to back up Jake Delhomme this season.
Insight: Delhomme signed a big extension over the winter, but his recent arm injury and struggles in the playoffs in January could make this a job of particular interest. (SportsBuff.com)
