NFL Preseason Preview - Tennessee (0-1) at Cincinnati (1-0)

By John McMullen, NFL Editor

(Sports Network) - Music City will aim to avoid a few "Hard Knocks" as the Tennessee Titans head to the Buckeye State to take on the Cincinnati Bengals in preseason action.

A promising season for the Bengals got off to a good start in Atlanta last week as Josh Johnson and Dane Sanzenbacher led Cincinnati to a 34-10 rout over the Falcons at the Georgia Dome.

The Bengals' projected starters struggled a bit, but big things are expected in 2013 after the team bowed out in the AFC Wild Card round the last two seasons.

Starting quarterback Andy Dalton completed 3-of-7 passes for 37 yards, while his caddy Johnson did a little bit of everything as he threw for 100 yards and a touchdown and added 64 yards on the ground.

Johnson led Cincinnati to 17 points in the second quarter, first hitting Brandon Tate in traffic for a 21-yard touchdown, then guiding the club on a two-minute drill that led to Giovani Bernard's 1-yard plunge for a 17-3 Bengals lead at halftime.

Sanzenbacher sealed the outcome from there with a 71-yard punt return for a score and a 36-yard TD grab from John Skelton.

The Titans, meanwhile, dropped their preseason opener in heartbreaking fashion when Pat White scrambled for a 9-yard score and then found Emmanuel Ogbuehi for the go-ahead two-point conversion, as the Washington Redskins rallied to a 22-21 victory over Tennessee at LP Field.

Jake Locker, entering his pivotal third season with the Titans, played most of the first half under center and finished 7-for-11 for 58 yards. Third-stringer Rusty Smith completed 7-of-10 passes for 75 yards and a touchdown.

Chris Johnson made the most of his two carries, taking one 58 yards for a touchdown. Shonn Greene, who signed a three-year deal with the Titans in the offseason, carried the ball five times for 32 yards and touchdown.

This matchup will only be the second all-time preseason game between the Titans and Bengals. The first was a 2003 meeting in Cincinnati which the Titans won 23-15.
