NFL Preseason Preview - Kansas City (0-2) at Pittsburgh (0-2)

By John McMullen, NFL Editor

(Sports Network) - A pair of teams still searching for their first preseason win square off in western Pennsylvania on Saturday when the Pittsburgh Steelers play host to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Ben Roethlisberger threw for 66 yards on 5-of-6 passes Monday, while Jonathan Dwyer gained 68 yards on 14 carries for a Pittsburgh offense that saw rookie running back Le'Veon Bell go down with a foot injury during a 24-13 loss to the Washington Redskins.

Bell appears unlikely to be ready for the start of the upcoming regular season due to the injury. Head coach Mike Tomlin revealed Wednesday that the team is awaiting the results of a second opinion on Bell's ailing right foot but NFL.com reported that the Steelers are concerned that the 2013 second-round pick may have a Lisfranc injury which could require surgery.

"Le'Veon had his MRI on Tuesday, and we are still awaiting final diagnosis and results of a second opinion," said Tomlin. "He will not participate this weekend against the Kansas City Chiefs, and I will provide an update once we have received the official results of his tests over the next couple of days."

The Chiefs, meanwhile, fell to 0-2 in the Andy Reid era, dropping a 15-13 decision to the San Francisco 49ers on Friday of last week.

Alex Smith led the Chiefs to a pair of scoring drives against his former team, but B.J. Daniels hit fellow rookie Chuck Jacobs with the go-ahead touchdown pass with 2:02 left in the game, to boost San Francisco to victory.

Smith, who spent the previous eight seasons with San Francisco after being taken with the No. 1 overall pick out of Utah in 2005, was traded to the Chiefs after the 2012 season. He completed 7-of-16 passes for 62 yards in playing the entire first half.

Quintin Demps returned a kickoff 104 yards for a TD in the first quarter for the Chiefs, who got field goals of 47 and 23 yards from Ryan Succop in the first half.

Backup QB Chase Daniel completed all six of his passes for 51 yards for Kansas City.

The Chiefs and Steelers have split two previous meetings in preseason play. The last time the clubs met prior to the regular season was in 1997 when Pittsburgh visited Arrowhead Stadium and won the contest 28-14.
