Prosecutors denied Hernandez jail calls

Fall River, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - A judge ruled Friday that prosecutors in former NFL star Aaron Hernandez's murder case can't have recordings of his jailhouse calls.

The judge said that prosecutors didn't make a sufficient enough case for the records.

The defense stated that prosecutors are on a "fishing expedition."

Prosecutors said that Hernandez allegedly communicated about the case in "coded messages" and discussed his belief about his criminal liability.

Hernandez pleaded not guilty in September to a charge of first-degree murder and five accompanying weapons charges in the death of Odin Lloyd, a 27-year- old semi-pro football player from the Boston area who was dating the sister of Hernandez's girlfriend.

Four others have been charged in the case, including Hernandez's fiancee and cousin.

Hernandez is also under investigation for allegedly participating in a 2012 double homicide in Boston.
