Orlovsky returns to Detroit

Allen Park, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - The Detroit Lions have brought back quarterback Dan Orlovsky.

The club welcomed back their fifth-round pick from 2005 by agreeing to terms Wednesday on a one-year contract. He'll replace Shaun Hill, who departed for St. Louis as a free agent.

Orlovsky did not see much time as a backup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers over the last two seasons, completing 4-of-7 passes for 51 yards over three appearances.

The UConn product spent his first four NFL seasons with the Lions, seeing his most action in 2008, when he passed for 1,616 yards and eight touchdowns against eight interceptions on 143-of-255 completions in 10 games.

All told, Orlovsky has thrown for almost 3,000 yards, 14 TDs and 12 picks on 276-of-472 efficiency with Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis and Tampa over his nine-year NFL career.
