Insight: Arrieta is 3-1 this season and is a better fantasy play than last year just solely based on the fact the Cubs are scoring runs. Arrieta's ERA is too shabby either at 2.03.

Insight: Arrieta has been solid for fantasy owners this season. He is 2-1 with a 1.74 ERA ad 0.87 WHIP with 19 strikeouts in 20 2/3 innings this season.

Insight: Arrieta went 10-5 last season with a 2.53 ERA in 156 2/3 innings last season, so he is a decent option in standard leagues. On a better offensive team this season, he has much more potential than last year.

Description: Cubs starter Jake Arrieta threw a complete game one hitter, struck out 13 and walked just one to defeat the Reds, 7-0, on Tuesday.
Insight: It is the first complete game of Arrieta's career and the first complete game thrown by a Cubs starting pitcher this season. Arrieta nearly threw a no-hitter as he did not allow hit until Brandon Phillips doubled in the eighth. Cubs center fielder Matt Szczur made an incredile effort to try and catch Phillips' double, but he came up short. It has been a breakout year for Arrieta, who is 9-5 with a 2.65 ERA.

Insight: Arrieta has pitched very well this season and even after this poor outing still owns a 2.88 ERA. He's yielded four earned runs or more in just three of 21 starts this season, so ignore this start until it becomes a trend.

Insight: The Marlins managed just three hits in Arrieta's six innings of work. Arrieta (1-1, 2.50 ERA) delivered seven strikeouts without walking a batter. Once again the Cubs' bullpen couldn't hold the lead, leaving Arrieta with his fifth no-decision in seven starts.

Insight: Arrieta was supposed to start Wednesday but Monday's rainout will push Jeff Samardzija and Edwin Jackson back and Travis Wood will stay in his normal spot on Friday. Arrieta put up a 3.66 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP in 51 2/3 innings after Chicago acquired him from Baltimore last season, but he has a career 5.23 ERA in 409 2/3 innings.
