PCL blanks IL at Triple-A All-Star Game
Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - Mike Hessman and Wil Myers each drove in a run during the first inning and the Pacific Coast League used 11 pitchers to blank the International League, 3-0, at the Triple-A All-Star Game Wednesday night.
Tim Federowicz drove in the other run, as the PCL snapped a three-game skid at the midseason contest.
PCL starter Graham Godfrey allowed one hit during the first inning and got the win, while Tyler Cloyd gave up three hits and the two runs over the opening frame to absorb the loss. Jonathan Albaladejo recorded the game's final two outs to earn the save.
The IL managed just five hits, two of which came from Leslie Anderson.
Cloyd, who pitches at Triple-A Lehigh Valley in the Phillies' farm system, gave up singles to Adam Eaton and Jake Elmore to start the game. Hessman lifted a sacrifice fly, and Myers grounded a single into center field to plate the second run in the top of the first.
Ryan Lavarnway was thrown out at home in the bottom of the second, and the PCL tacked on a third run in the fourth when Federowicz doubled in Myers.
