Chapter Seven named 2012 Harness Horse of the Year
Freehold, NJ (Sports Network) - Trotter of the Year Chapter Seven has been voted harness racing's 2012 Horse of the Year by the U.S. Harness Writers Association. The announcement was made on Thursday.
Chapter Seven finished the year as the top-ranked horse in the Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown Top 10 poll. The 4-year-old is trained by Linda Toscano for owners Richard Gutnick, Southwind Farm and J&T Silva Stables. Tim Tetrick was the colt's driver.
"He's just an amazing horse. He always gave a hundred percent. He had that desire to win. I keep pinching myself," Gutnick said.
Chapter Seven won eight of 10 starts in the past year with two seconds for just over $1 million. His 2012 season was highlighted by winning the $600,000 Breeders Crown Older Colt and Gelding Trot, his second Breeders Crown victory.
