Messenger Stakes attracts eight 3-year-olds
Yonkers, NY (Sports Network) - The final jewel of the Pacing Triple Crown, the Messenger Stakes at Yonkers Raceway, will have a field of eight 3-year-olds for the mile stakes. The 57th Messenger, with a $415,820 purse, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10.
Topping the field is A Rocknroll Dance, winner of the Meadowlands Pace back in July. The colt has won four of 18 starts this year with five seconds for $1,011,464
Here are the entrants, in alphabetical order with drivers: A Rocknroll Dance Dave Miller, Bolt the Duer, Mark MacDonald, Domethatagain, Brent Holland, Hillbilly Hanover, Jim Morrill Jr.; Lawgiver Hanover, Eric Goodell, Major Bombay, Andy Miller, Pet Rock, George Brennan and Steelhead Hanover, driver TBA.
Post positions for the Messenger will be drawn Tuesday, Nov. 6.
Dynamic Youth won the Cane Pace and Michael's Power captured the Little Brown Jug, the first two legs of the Pacing Triple Crown.
No Pan Intended was the last Pacing Triple Crown champ in 2003.
