Archangel leads field for Kentucky Futurity

Lexington, KY (Sports Network) - Archangel, winner of the Yonkers Trot, tops a field of 13 for Sunday's 120th Kentucky Futurity at The Red Mile. The Futurity is the final leg of the Trotting Triple Crown.

The Kentucky Futurity is contested in heats, which requires a horse to win twice to be declared the champion. With 13 3-year-old trotters entered, there will be two first heat elimination races.

Missing from Sunday's race is Hambletonian winner Market Share.

Trained by Peter Arrigenna, Archangel will be part of the first elimination race and will leave from post five with Tim Tetrick driving. The colt has won 10 of 15 starts this year for $714,236.

Here are the fields for the two first heat eliminations in post position order.

First Elimination: Little Brown Fox, Yannick Gingras; Another Amaretto, Andy Miller; Gym Tan Laundry, Ron Pierce; Lindys Jersey Boy, Scott Zeron; Archangel, Tim Tetrick and Fogelberg, Charlie Norris.

Second Elimination: Solvato, Trond Smedshammer; Appomattox, Scott Zeron; Magic Tonight, Ron Pierce; Money On My Mind, Andy Miller; My MVP, Mike Lachance; Banker Volo, David Miller and Guccio, Jimmy Takter.
