A Rocknroll Dance dominates Meadowlands Pace

East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - A Rocknroll Dance, driven by Yannick Gingras, controlled the pace and easily won Saturday's $600,000 Meadowlands Pace at Meadowlands Racetrack. The three-year-old colt paced the mile in 1:48 1/5.

Starting from the inside post, A Rocknroll Dance left the gate sharply and took the lead entering the backstretch. Going second was Allstar Legend who started from the far outside post in the 10 horse field. Pacing in third was 2-1 favorite Thinking Out Loud with Heston Blue Chip in fourth.

Trained by co-owner Jim Mulinix, A Rocknroll Dance was never headed and hit the wire 1 1/2 lengths in front of runner-up Pet Rock with Allstar Legend holding on for third. Heston Blue Chip, winner of one of last week's elimination heats, was fourth followed by Sweet Lou, Thinking Out Loud, State Treasurer, Simply Business, Time To Roll and Bolt The Duer.

A Rocknroll Dance earned $300,000 with the win to push his lifetime earnings to $1,377,250. Second to Sweet Lou in last week's second elimination heat, the colt has won 10 of 19 career starts with five runner-up finishes.

The winner's sire, Rocknroll Hanover, won the Pace in 2005 and also sired runner-up Pet Rock. This is the first Meadowlands Pace victory for Yannick Gingras.

A Rocknroll Dance returned $11.40, $6.00 and $4.60. Pet Rock paid $12.20 and $4.40, and Allstar Legend paid $22.40 to show.
