Elimination winners top North America Cup

Campbellville, ON (Sports Network) - Sweet Lou and Dapper Dude, winners of last week's elimination heats, lead a field of 10 three-year-old pacers for Saturday's $1.5 million North America Cup at Mohawk Racetrack. This will be the 29th edition of the mile pace.

Starting from post four will be Sweet Lou and driver Dave Palone. Trained by Ron Burke, Sweet Lou won his Cup elimination in a time of 1:47 4/5 and has been made the 3-5 morning line favorite. Last year's champion two-year-old male is perfect in three starts this year for $124,128.

Dapper Dude, 8-1 in the program, will start from post two with Hall-of-Fame driver John Campbell. The colt won his heat in 1:49 3/5 for trainer Bob McIntosh. Dapper Dude has earned $112,921 with three wins in four starts in 2012. While Campbell is a six-time winner of the North America Cup, he has not done so since 1999.
