Kentucky Futurity goes to Manofmanymissions
Lexington, KY (Sports Network) - Champion colt Manofmanymissions, driven by David Miller, captured Sunday's $490,000 Kentucky Futurity at The Red Mile. The three-year-old won the second and third heats of the 119th trot.
The Kentucky Futurity is the final race in trotting's Triple Crown. The Hambletonian was won by Broad Bahn and the Yonkers Trot went to Leader of the Gang.
The first heat went to Dejarmbro who posted a head victory over Broad Bahn. Big Rigs finished third followed by Luckycharm Hanover, Vc Chocoholic, Whit, Manofmanymissions, Fawkes and Live Jazz.
Manofmanymissions won the second heat by a head as well over Dejarmbro. Big Rigs again finished third followed by Broad Bahn, Fawkes, Luckycharm Hanover, Vc Chocoholic, Whit and Live Jazz. Opening Night was scratched from the second heat.
The first heat was trotted in 1:53 4/5 and the second heat went in 1:52 4/5.
In the race-off, Manofmanymissions defeated Dejarmbro by a length and covered the mile in 1:54 3/5.
"I wanted to get the lead and control the pace, and go as slow as I could," said winning driver David Miller. "My horse is game and got the job done."
Manofmanymissions, the 2010 champion two-year-old trotter, returned $3.80 for the race-off victory. The colt has won eight of 13 starts this year with earnings of better than $750,000.
"He's got a lot of heart and is a very fast horse," said winning trainer Erv Miller.
The three-year-old is owned by Manofmanymissions Stable, Mystical Marker Farms and Mauro Biasuzzi Stable. He most likely will start next in the Breeders Crown this month at Woodbine.
