The U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur is open to female amateur golfers who will have reached their 25th birthday on or before Oct. 6, 2012, and who have a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 9.4.
FORMAT: Two days worth of 36-hole, qualifying stroke-play will be contested on Saturday, October 6th and Sunday, October 7th. The field will then be reduced to the lowest 64 players, who advance to match play.
The first round of matches will be held on Monday, October 8th, while the second and third-round matches will be contested on Tuesday, October 9th. On Wednesday, October 10th the quarterfinal and semifinal matches will take place, while the championship match will be held on Thursday, October 11th. All matches will be 18 holes.
CHAMPION REWARDS: The champion receives a gold medal and custody of the Mildred Prunaret Trophy for the ensuing year. The champion receives an exemption from qualifying for the next 10 U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Championships, if otherwise eligible; an exemption from qualifying for the next two U.S. Women's Amateur Championships, if otherwise eligible; an exemption from qualifying for the next two U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championships, if otherwise eligible; an exemption from qualifying for the next two USGA Senior Women's Amateurs, if otherwise eligible.
TROPHY: The women will compete for the Mildred Prunaret Trophy. A sterling Revere bowl, it was presented in 1987 by Mrs. Henri Prunaret, chairman of the USGA Women's Committee from 1959 through 1963. The champion retains custody of the trophy for the ensuing year.
