NOTES:
The Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps is the 12th round on the 2014 Formula One calendar.

The Spa-Francorchamps circuit traces its origins back to the interwar period. In 1920, the first formal racing layout used public roads between the towns of Malmedy, Stavelot and the village of Francorchamps. By the start of the F1 World Championship era, it had developed into a 14.1-kilometer circuit. After many fatalities and serious injuries, the circuit was drastically reduced to a seven kilometers in the late 1970s. There have been several updates to the circuit since, with many of the faster corners being re-profiled to bring the racetrack up to the safety standards expected of a modern grand prix circuit.

Spa-Francorchamps was one of the venues used in 1950 for the inaugural F1 world championship season. It has been the circuit used for the bulk of Belgian GP, hosting the race for 45 of its previous 57 runnings.

The Belgian GP also was held at Nivelles (1972 and '74) and Zolder (1973, 1975-82, and '84). Spa-Francorchamps has hosted the race in all other years, with the exception of 1957, '59 , '69, '71, 2003 and '06, when it was not on the F1 calendar.

Michael Schumacher holds the record for most victories in the Belgian GP with six. Kimi Raikkonen leads all active drivers with four wins in this race.

Ferrari leads all constructors with 16 victories in the Belgian GP. McLaren is next in line with 13 wins.

In the 2001 Belgian GP, Michael Schumacher claimed his 52nd career F1 victory. Schumacher surpassed Alain Prost's record for most wins in the sport. The seven-time F1 champion went on to end his career with 91 victories.

Jim Clark and Ayrton Senna are those drivers who won the Belgian GP four consecutive times. Clark's victories in this race occurred from 1962-65. Senna scored four wins in a row in the Belgian GP from 1988-91. Schumacher won it three straight times from 1995-97.

Round 13 in this year's F1 world championship is the Sept. 7 Italian Grand Prix in Monza, Italy. Sebastian Vettel is the defending race winner.
