Turner In Overdrive

Michael Turner has turned it around in the last six days.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Atlanta's Michael Turner stumbled out of the gate this year, running for just 65 yards and no scores in the season opener against Miami. He also had just one 100+ yard rushing day in the season's first seven weeks. But the Falcons' running back has turned it around in the last six days.

On Monday night, Turner ran for 151 yards and a score against New Orleans and on Sunday he exceeded those numbers by carrying the ball 18 times for 166 yards and two touchdowns. He now has seven consecutive games with at least one touchdown and his 40-point afternoon was a huge lift for Atlanta and fantasy owners. The past two weeks have shown why Turner had a RapidDraft ADP of 3.2.

DeAngelo Williams, who was the TSN Fantasy Player of the Year in 2008, like Turner had struggled at the beginning of 2009. He had no 100-yard games heading into Week 6. Since that point, however, the Carolina Panthers running back has three in the last four games.

Williams' first carry against the undefeated Saints went for 66 yards and a score and he also put on in from seven yards out before the first quarter was eight minutes old. Williams finished the first half with 115 yards and the game with 149 yards, two scores and 36 fantasy points.

In the late games, second-year star Chris Johnson posted 135 yards and two scores giving him 363 yards and four touchdowns in the last two games.

As for the quarterback position, after a week in which just two men threw for 300 yards, the NFL displayed some of their best in Week 9. In the early games, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Matt Schaub all cracked the 300-yard barrier and none of them were the top scorers at quarterback.

Bettering those numbers were Jay Cutler in a losing effort to Arizona and the Cardinals' quarterback Kurt Warner en route to the victory. Warner, who earned 28 fantasy points to lead all QBs, didn't throw for 300-yards, but did set a career high of five TD passes. Cutler posted 24 points on 29-for-47 passing for 369 yards and three scores.

A total of six quarterbacks exceeded 300 yards passing, including Drew Brees and Matt Hasselbeck in the late games.

With the improved quarterback play came better numbers at receiver too. Randy Moss (33 points) and young Mike Sims-Walker (31) posted identical six-catch, 147-yard, one touchdown days, while Larry Fitzgerald collected nine balls for 123 yards and two scores to earn 30 points.
