All fantasy owners drafting Willis McGahee need to draft his backup - rookie Ray Rice.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) -
With the announcement that Baltimore Ravens starting running back Willis McGahee underwent arthroscopic knee surgery, it is important for all fantasy owners to link drafting McGahee with his backup - rookie Ray Rice.
McGahee had a solid, though unspectacular 2007 with 1,207 yards and seven rushing TD on 294 carries. He had five 100-yard games, but never scored more than one touchdown in any game.
The surgery usually requires two-four weeks recover time.
The Ravens selected Rice with the 55th overall pick in 2008. He ran for 2,012 yards in his final season at Rutgers.
"We like the way he runs," said GM Ozzie Newsome after the draft. "He has a very low center of gravity, so he doesn't take a lot of hits. He mainly delivers a blow instead of taking a blow."
