Description: Canucks goaltender Eddie Lack made 22 saves in the, 4-1, victory in Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals on Friday.
Insight: Vancouver dominated this game, outshooting Calgary, 32-23. Lack nearly had the shutout, but he allowed a goal with under four minutes to go. Lack has stopped 50-of-53 save chances in the series, which is now tied 1-1.
Description: Senators goaltender Andrew Hammond made 39 saves in the Game 2 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals loss to the Canadiens on Friday.
Insight: Hammond allowed three very makable saves, which was disappointing as the Senators were very close to stealing a game in Montreal. Hammond allowed the game-winner in overtime on a shot that went through his arm. It's not like Hammond has been bad, but he will have to be better if Ottawa is going to comeback from the 2-0 deficit versus Montreal.
Description: Capitals netminder Braden Holtby is not starting Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals against the Islanders according to NBC Sports.
Insight: It's a tough break for the Capitals, who already trail in the series, 1-0. Holtby is sick, so Philipp Grubauer will get his first career NHL playoff start. Grubauer has played well this season, but it was in the AHL at Hershey.
Description: Red Wings goalie Petr Mrazek made 44 saves in the Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals against the Lightning on Thursday.
Insight: Mrazek stopped 44-of-46 shots in the, 3-2, victory. After a rough finish to the season for both Mrazek and fellow Detroit goaltender Jimmy Howard, it was unclear who would start in net. It is now clear that Mrazek is the man after his performance in Game 1.
Description: Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury yielded two suspect goals in the first period in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Rangers, but he bounced back to have a very nice game overall.
Insight: On the first shot of the game, Fleury made a save but coughed up a very juicy rebound and Derick Brassard took advantage to score the first goal of the game. The second goal came from Ryan McDonaugh on the point of the power play, but it didn't appear to deflect off of anyone. Another save Fleury probably should have made. To his credit, he made some fantastic saves and controlled his rebounds the rest of the game and prevented Game 1 from getting out of hand. Pittsburgh lost, 2-1, but the Penguins should feel good about the way they played in the second and third periods.
Description: Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist had 24 saves in the Game 1 victory in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals against the Penguins on Thursday.
Insight: Lundqvist didn't get much consistent work, but he made some quality saves when the Penguins turned up the heat in the second and third periods. The Rangers defense in front of Lundqvist is so good that Pittsburgh really didn't get a ton of great scoring chances.
Description: Flames goalie Jonas Hiller stopped 29-of-30 shots in the, 2-1, thrilling victory over the Canucks in Game 1 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals.
Insight: Canucks center Bo Horvat in the second period, but the Flames played the role of comeback kids again as they scored twice in the third period with the final goal coming with under 30 seconds left in regulation. Hiller made 13 saves in that third period.
Description: Blackhawks goaltender Scott Darling made 42 saves in relief of Corey Crawford versus the Predators in Game 1 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals on Wednesday.
Insight: Crawford allowed three goals in the first period as Chicago fell behind, 3-0. Blackhawks coach Joe Quenneville replaced Crawford with the rookie Darling, who was excellent and allowed Chicago to comeback and win. Darling was particularly good in overtime, stopping all 23 shots he faced. It will be interesting to see if the Blackhawks stick with Darling in Game to or go back to Crawford.
Description: Canucks goalie Ryan Miller allowed five goals in his return to the net on Saturday against the Oilers.
Insight: This does not bode well for Miller starting in the playoffs. This was Miller's first start since Feb. 22, and the fact he allowed five goals to lowly Edmonton should not give Vancouver much confidence. It will be interesting to see who the Canucks start in net.
Description: Ducks goaltender Frederik Andersen allowed just one goal in the, 2-1, victory over the Coyotes in the season finale.
Insight: Andersen made 23 saves in the victory. He hit a road bump, allowing four goals to the Stars on Wednesday, but Andersen has been solid lately. He has allowed two goals or fewer in four of his last five starts. Andersen will probably be the starting goaltender for the top-seeded Ducks in the playoffs.
Description: Canadiens goaltender Carey Price didn't look great, but he did win his 44th game of the season on Saturday.
Insight: Price allowed three goals against the Maple Leafs to record a .864 save percentage, but he stopped both Toronto shots in the shootout. Price finishes the regular season 44-16-6 and is the favor to win the Vezina Trophy.
Description: Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward played well in the final game this season, stopped 27-of-28 shots.
Insight: But as usual, Ward did not get the win because the offense in front of him is awful. Ward didn't have a great season statistically, but on a better team, he could have won more games. He finished 22-24-5.
Description: In the biggest game of the season, Marc-Andre Fleury captured his 10th shutout of the season as the Penguins clinched the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
Insight: Fleury made some nice saves in the first period on Saturday versus the Sabres, but Buffalo didn't get many chances after that. Fleury made 28 saves in the crucial game. He finished the year 34-20-9.
Description: Kings goalie Jonathan Quick made 20 saves in the season finale to beat the Sharks, 4-1, on Saturday.
Insight: Quick was a bit disappointing this season with a 36-22-13 record, but his team just didn't play as well around him as they did a season ago. Quick and the Kings should be a contender again in the Western Conference next season.
Description: Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist won his 30th game of the season on Saturday as New York beat Washington, 4-2.
Insight: Lundqvist made 22 saves in the victory to improve his record to 30-13-3. Fantasy owners were a bit disappointed with Lundqvist's numbers this season, but it wasn't his fault he missed so much time with his neck injury. Lundqvist and the Rangers appears poised for another deep playoff run.
Description: Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne continues his slump, losing on Tuesday, 3-2, to the Avalanche.
Insight: Rinne has lost his last three starts and allowed at least three goals in each of his last four games. He did lose two of those last three starts in overtime and the shootout, though, so for fantasy owners, they didn't count as losses. Despite the struggles, Rinne is still 41-16-6 with a 2.17 GAA and .923 save percentage this season.
Description: Avalanche goalie Semyon Varlamov made 40 saves in the, 3-2, victory over the Predators on Tuesday.
Insight: Varlamov seems to be better when he faces more shots. In the last three games where Varlamov faces at least 40 shots, he has posted a .921 save percentage or better. He is 27-20-8 this season.
Description: Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec picked up a shutout against the Wild on Monday.
Insight: Pavelec was able to do what a lot of goalies haven't been able to since Jan. 15, and that's beat Devan Dubnyk in regulation. This is a huge victory as the Jets move back in front of the Los Angeles Kings by two points. Los Angeles has yet to play on Monday, but after that, both teams will have three games left.
Description: Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist had 29 saves in the, 4-3, overtime victory ove the Blue Jackets on Monday.
Insight: Lunqvist did allow three goals in the victory, so his save percentage was just .906 and the GAA was just under three. Don't be surprised if the Rangers rest Lundqvist once or twice with three games remaining the Rangers pretty much guaranteed to be the top seed in the east.
Description: Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky snapped his eight-game winning streak in the loss to the Rangers on Monday.
Insight: It was an overtime loss, so it won't count as a defeat for fantasy purposes, but Bobrovsky wasn't great, allowing four goals on 42 shots versus New York. He has been very streaky this year with two winning streak of seven games or longer and two losing streaks of four games or longer, so just because Bobrovksy has won eight of the last nine doesn't mean he won't take a turn for the worse in the last week of the season.
Description: Senators goaltender Andrew Hammond made 36 saves in the shootout loss to the Maple Leafs on Sunday.
Insight: This was a game Ottawa really needed, but at least they still got a point. With Pittsburgh and Detroit losing on Sunday, Ottawa is just two points behind both those teams with three games to play. The Senators and Penguins will play on Tuesday. Hammond is now 17-1-2 this season.
Description: Maple Leafs goaltender Jonathan Bernier made 43 saves in the, 3-2, shootout victory over the Senators on Sunday.
Insight: The only goals Bernier allowed versus Ottawa came on the power play, so he looked very good on Sunday. He also stopped five-of-six shootout attempts. He, however, is still just 21-28-6 this season.
Description: Red Wings goalie Petr Mrazek played well in the loss to the Capitals on Sunday.
Insight: The Red Wings are trying to settle their goalie situation going into the playoffs, and Mrazek appears to be the guy. He made 26 saves on 28 shots in the, 2-1, loss. Of course, Detroit still has to clinch a playoff spot with the Ottawa Senators just three points back and a game in hand.
Description: Capitals netminder Braden Holtby allowed just one goal in the, 2-1, victory over the Red Wings on Sunday.
Insight: Washington has spent most of the season in fourth place of the Metropolitian Division, but with the collpase of the Islanders and Penguins, the Capitals have a great chance to finish in second and have home ice in the first round. Holtby made 35 saves and is now 39-19-10 this season.
Description: Canadiens goaltender Carey Price rebounded in a big way on Easter versus the Panthers.
Insight: Price's last victory was last Saturday against the Panthers, but he allowed four goals in each game in his last two starts. Price made 25 saves in the victory on Sunday. He is 42-16-6 this season.
