Description: Blue Jackets goalie Sergei Bobrovsky will not attend the All-Star Game due to a lower-body injury he suffered Wednesday night.
Insight: Bobrovsky doesn't have a timetable to return. It would have been cool to see Bobrovsky in front of the home crowd in Columbus for the All-Star game, but he really doesn't have All-Star worthy numbers. He is 16-15-2 with a 2.85 GAA and .913 save percentage.
Description: Blue Jackets goalie Sergei Bobrovsky really struggled on Wednesday.
Insight: Bobrovsky allowed three goals on 12 shots in about 28 minutes of ice time versus the Jets. Bobrovksy has been up-and-down this season but has been very disappointing overall. He is 16-15-2 with a 2.85 GAA and .913 save percentage.
Description: Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury made 24 saves in a shootout loss to the Blackhawks on Wednesday.
Insight: Pittsburgh rallied from down, 2-0, to tie the game and send it into overtime. Despite picking up another point, the Penguins really could have used the victory. Pittsburgh has lost four straight games, two of which were in overtime or in a shootout. Fleury is 22-9-5 with a 2.31 GAA and .921 save percentage.
Description: Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith continued his below average season on Tuesday versus the Blackhawks.
Insight: Smith made 45 saves but also allowed six goals. Judging by the amount of work, owners can't completely blame Smith because the Arizona defense is one of the worst in the league. With a subpar goalie and bad defense, Smith should be left on the waiver wire.
Description: Blackhawks goalie Antti Raanta will get the nod Tuesday versus Arizona.
Insight: Chicago plays Wednesday night as well, with Corey Crawford likely starting that contest against Pittsburgh. Raanta is an intriguing daily option, as he owns a 6-3-0 record with a 1.96 GAA and .934 save percentage.
Description: Canadiens goaltender Carey Price is doubtful for Saturday's game versus the Islanders.
Insight: It appears as though the Candiens will have to play for the top seed in the Eastern Conference without their top goaltender. Check back later, but more than likely, Dustin Tokarski will receive the start.
Description: Devils goal Cory Schneider left Friday's game after taking a shot close to the head in the first period according to the Star Ledger.
Insight: Anaheim's Matt Beleskey took a shot that hit Schneider in the collarbone and head area. NJ.com speculated that Schneider may have a head injury. He did not return to the game. In one period, Schneider stopped 14-of-15 shots, and New Jersey went on to lose, 5-1.
Description: Jets goalie Matt Hutchinson returned to the net on Friday and made 31 saves in a victory over the Blackhawks.
Insight: Winnipeg started former starting goaltender Ondrej Pavelec on Thursday, and he made 46 saves in a, 2-1, victory over the Stars. Therefore, Hutchinson owners wanted to see him have a good game to avoid another goalie controversy. Hutchinson stopped 31-of-33 shots to improve to 13-4-2 on the season.
Description: Nashville backup goaltender Carter Hutton played alright in his first start since team doctors ruled starting goaltender Pikka Rinne out for three-to-five weeks with a knee injury.
Insight: Hutton allowed three goals but made 31 saves in a, 4-3, victory. Also, if you are going to allow three goals, two of them might as well be against one of the best players in the league in Alex Ovechkin.
Description: Canucks goalie Ryan Miller recorded his second straight shutout on back-to-back nights.
Insight: Miller shutout the Flyers, turning aside all 30 shots on Thursday, and he stopped all 28 shot attempts from the Hurricanes on Friday. Miller has now not allowed a goal in seven periods. Miller is 22-9-1 with five shutouts this season.
Description: Blue Jackets goalie Sergei Bobrovsky allowed only two goals, but he and Columbus lost, 2-1, on Friday.
Insight: It looked like it might be another long night for Bobrovsky, who allowed two second period goals, but he finished by stopping 24-of-26 overall. With the loss, Bobrovsky fell to 15-14-2 this season.
Description: Red Wings goalie Petr Mrazek made 25 saves in a victory over the Blues on Thursday.
Insight: Mrazek allowed a goal with under a minute to go that tied the game for the Blues, but Detroit was able to win in overtime. Mrazek is 7-3-1 with solid numbers backing up Jimmy Howard. If you need a goalie, you could do worse than Mrazek.
Description: Avalanche goalie Semyon Varlamov made 30 saves in the, 4-2, victory over the Panthers on Thursday.
Insight: Varlamov allowed two goals to win his 11th game of the season. He doesn't have a great record, 11-9-5, or a good GAA, 2.74 heading into Thursday, but Varlamov had a very respectable .921 before taking the ice versus the Panthers. He has also won five of seven this month.
Description: Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask shutout the red hot New York Rangers on Thursday.
Insight: Ok, so the Rangers aren't exactly red hot. They have been shutout for six straight periods now, but the Rangers had won 13 of 14 prior to the two straight shutouts. Rask stopped 30 shots on his way to his second shutout of the season.
Description: Flyers goalie Ray Emery barely made it out of the first period as he allowed three goals on the first 12 shots of the game on Thursday.
Insight: The Canucks tagged Emery for two first-period goals and then another within the first two minutes of the second period. At that point, backup Rob Zepp replaced Emery, who is now 7-8-1 this season.
Description: Goaltender Devan Dubnyk's first game with the Minnesota Wild was a good one.
Insight: Dubnyk stopped all 18 shots he faced, and the Minnesota offense exploded for seven goals to beat Buffalo, 7-0. As important as the strong goaltending was for Minnesota, the Wild's defense was much better, although the Sabres aren't exactly an offensive powerhouse. Either way, fantasy owners who rolled the dice with Dubnyk in his first start in Minnesota, are extremely pleased.
Description: Canadiens Dustin Tokarski will start on Thursday against the Senators.
Insight: Carey Price won Wednesday night, 3-2, over the Blue Jackets, so he will get the night off. Tokarski hasn't played much this season, but when called upon, he has been solid. Tokarski is 4-2-1 with a .924 save percentage and 2.23 GAA.
Description: Rangers backup goaltender Cam Talbot will start on Thursday against the Bruins.
Insight: Talbot played the third period of the, 3-0, loss to the Islanders on Tuesday, so Alain Vigneault will stick with the hot hand. Talbot stopped all 12 shots he faced in the period. This will be his ninth start of the season.
Description: Predators goalie Pekka Rinne will miss the next three games and All-Star Weekend due to a knee injury, the team announced.
Insight: Carter Hutton should see most of the work between the pipes, but he Predators did call up Marek Mazanec. Rinne has been fantastic this season, going 29-6-2 with a 1.96 GAA and .931 save percentage. Hutton is 0-3-2 this season while Mazanec was 8-10-0 last season.
Description: Flyers goalie Rob Zepp continues to play well for Philadelphia.
Insight: He did suffer his first loss this season, but he allowed just one goal on 26 shots as the Flyers lost to the Capitals, 1-0. Zepp is 2-1-0 with a 2.33 GAA and a .910 save percentage in three starts.
Description: Blue Jackets goalie Sergei Bobrovsky broke fantasy owners' hearts on Wednesday.
Insight: It has been a frustrating season for Bobrovsky fantasy owners and that continued versus the Canadiens. Bobrovsky hadn't given up a goal 50 minutes into Wednesday's game, but he and the Blue Jackets allowed three power-play goals in the final 10 minutes. Instead of a great night, with perhaps a shutout, Bobrovsky allowed three goals while settling for a .903 save percentage and his 13th loss of the season.
Description: Minnesota has traded a third-round draft pick for goaltender Devan Dubnyk from the Arizona Coyotes.
Insight: The Wild have been really struggling on defense and in the pipes. Goalies Darcy Kuemper is hurt and Niklas Backstrom is 5-7-3 with a 3.05 GAA and .887 save percentage this season. This appears to be a win-win for Dubnyk and Minnesota. They get their goalie they want, and Dubnyk owners should see a slight tick in value for their goalie.
Description: Blues goaltender Martin Brodeur is taking a one-week leave of absence from the St. Louis Blues according to Blues.nhl.com.
Insight: Brodeur has been up-and-down since joining the Blues. He is 3-3-0 with a 2.87 GAA and .899 save percentage. With Brian Elliott back and Jake Allen as the backup, there is a good chance Brodeur is done in St. Louis.
Description: Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo had a night to forget on Tuesday.
Insight: Luongo didn't barely made it out of the first period as he allowed four goals on 20 shots in just over 26 minutes. That's a .800 save percentage, so Luongo's numbers definitely took a hit. His backup Al Montoya faired no better as he allowed four more goals and Winnipeg won, 8-2.
Description: Predators goalie Pekka Rinne earned the win on Tuesday, but more importantly left the game after a third-period collision.
Insight: Chris Higgins and Anton Volchenkov got tangled up and collided with Rinne, forcing him to go down. Rinne picked up his 29th victory, and leads the NHL in wins, but owners are just hoping he is healthy.
Description: Blues goalie Jake Allen picked up a much needed victory, but he still didn't play very well.
Insight: Allen hasn't had much playing time lately, but he earned the start Tuesday after he came on in relief for Brian Elliott on Saturday and led St. Louis to a comeback victory. Allen didn't allow a goal until the third period, but he only faced 15 shots in the game, so the save percentage was again below .900.
Description: Wild netminder Niklas Backstrom had another terrible fantasy outing on Tuesday.
Insight: Backstrom allowed six goals before Mike Yeo finally yanked him in favor of backup John Curry. It wasn't all Backstrom's fault as the defense in front of him was awful, but it doesn't really matter for fantasy owners. Backstrom allowed six goals on 35 shots for a terrible .829 save percentage.
Description: Islanders goalie Jaroslav Halak recorded his fourth shutout of the season on Tuesday.
Insight: Halak stopped all 27 shots he faced against the Rangers, which is extremely impressive considering the Rangers had won 14 of their last 15 games heading into Tuesday. Halak is 23-8-0 this season.
Description: Kings backup goalie Martin Jones will likely start Monday against the Maple Leafs.
Insight: He was the first goalie off the ice this afternoon, leading many to believe he will get the nod. Jones has not started a game in a month, but does have a 2.32 GAA and .908 save percentage this season.
Description: Flyers goalie Rob Zepp will start Monday versus Tampa Bay.
Insight: Steve Mason will likely be sidelined for two weeks, leaving Ray Emery and Zepp to man the net. Zepp allowed three goals in a win during his career debut on Dec. 21 against the Jets. He will face a much tougher test Monday night.
