Description: Capitals netminder Braden Holtby had a rough night Wednesday against the Penguins.
Insight: Holtby allowed four goals on 26 shots, and dropped his record to 29-14-9. He is still a top notch option in net though. Alexander Ovechkin, John Carlson, and Troy Brouwer all lit the lamp for Washington.
Description: Kings goalie Jonathan Quick picked up his fourth shutout of the season on Tuesday as Los Angeles defeated Detroit, 1-0.
Insight: The Kings have now won eight in a row and have moved into sole possession of third place in the Pacific division. Quick made 20 saves in the victory. He is 25-15-10 with a 2.38 GAA and .914 save percentage this season.
Description: Blackhawks goaltender Scott Darling played well in a spot start on Tuesday.
Insight: Darling made 34 saves in the shootout victory over the Panthers. He is 6-2-0 with a 1.96 GAA and .938 save percentage in eight starts, but since this was his first start in over two months, he isn't fantasy relevant.
Description: Blues goalie Jake Allen was awful in a spot start on Tuesday versus the Canadiens.
Insight: Allen allowed five goals on 23 shots, which is just a .783 save percentage. Prior to Tuesday, Allen had allowed just six goals in all of February. After a strong first half, Allen is just too unpredicatable for fantasy owners to trust.
Description: Oilers goalie Ben Scrivens picked up a rare victory on Tuesday.
Insight: It was Scrivens' fourth victory of the last 10 games and just his 12th win of the season. Scrivens made 33 saves as Edmonton won, 2-1. He is 12-19-7 this season and came into the game with a 2.99 GAA and .895 save percentage.
Description: Wild goaltender Devan Dubnyk finally lost a game and to a team he had really no business losing to.
Insight: It's hard to be mad at Dubnyk, who 9-1-1 with a .939 save percentage and three shutouts this month, but the Wild shouldn't have lost to the lowly Oilers. Dubnyk had 17 saves on 19 shots as Minnesota lost, 2-1.
Description: Sabres goalie Michal Neuvirth picked up his fifth win of the season.
Insight: He defeated Columbus on Tuesday night by stopping 45-of-47 shots on goal. This was arguably Neuvirth's best game of the season, but he still should be kept on the waiver wire, with a 5-16-3 record.
Description: Rangers backup goaltender Cam Talbot made 21 saves to pickup his first shutout of the season.
Insight: Talbot came into the game having won six of his last nine games, but his other numbers are terrible: 3.06 GAA and .895 save percentage. The shutout will certainly help those. Talbot should remain in fantasy lineups until Henrik Lundqvist returns.
Description: Sabres goalie Michal Neuvirth made 37 saves in the shootout loss to the Predators on Sunday.
Insight: Neuvirth also made two nice saves in the shootout, but Filip Forsberg beat him in the fourth round to lift Nashville over Buffalo. Neuvirth is 4-17-2 this season with a GAA over 3.00, so hopefully there aren't too many fantasy owners out there counting on his production.
Description: Canucks goalie Ryan Miller did not allow a goal on Sunday, but he also didn't finish the game as he left with an apparent leg injury according to Bleacher Report.
Insight: Miller suffered the injury after colliding with teammate Jannik Hansen. Miller did not return. In about 21 minutes of action, he made 10 saves, and backup Eddie Lack kept the shutout as he turned aside the next 27 shots. Stay tuned for updates on Miller.
Description: Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury is just on fire, having allowed just seven goals in his last seven starts.
Insight: More importantly, he won on Sunday as Pittsburgh routed Florida, 5-1. The Panthers really played hard in the first two periods, but Fleury made some excellent saves to keep Pittsburgh in the lead. Then the Penguins offense took over with four goals in the final 21 minutes. Fleury is 27-13-6 this season.
Description: Senators goalie Andrew Hammond earned a win Saturday against Florida.
Insight: Hammond is not a relevant fantasy option, but has yet to lose during his first two starts (2-0-0). He made 21 saves on 22 shots to help Ottawa defeat the Panthers. At the very least, Hammond likely earned himself a few more starts.
Description: Devils backup goalie Keith Kinkaid left Saturday's game with an apparent leg injury.
Insight: He saved all 17 shots on goal before exiting with a 3-0 lead in the second period. Unfortunately, Kinkaid had to be helped off the ice, so there is a chance he misses time. Cory Schneider came in relief, and stopped 14-of-15 shots that he faced.
Description: Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne lost for the second consecutive game for the first time this season.
Insight: Pretty impressive feat for the Vezina Trophy candidate. Rinne made some big saves on Saturday afternoon, stopping 31-of-33 shots on goal, but allowed two goals in the shootout, doing Nashville in. He is still an impressive 34-8-3 on the season.
Description: Flyers netminder Rob Zepp defeated Nasvhille in a shootout on Saturday afternoon.
Insight: Zepp faced just seven shots through two periods, and ultimately allowed two goals on 22 shots. He came up big in the shootout, stopping both of Nashville's attempts. Zepp is now 4-1-0, but with Steve Mason likely returning to the lineup next week, Zepp will be sent back down to Lehigh Valley.
Description: Capitals netminder Braden Holtby continued his magical season with just one goal allowed in the, 5-1, victory over the Jets on Thursday.
Insight: Holtby faced just 20 shots, turning aside 19 of them. He continues to excell in every single fantasy category with a 28-12-9 record, .925 save percentage and a 2.15 GAA with six shutouts this season.
Description: Sabres goalie Michal Neuvirth made 36 saves in the, 3-2, shootout victory over the Flyers on Thursday.
Insight: One of the two goals Neuvirth allowed was on the power play. He allowed one shootout goal on four attempts. Despite the good game, he still isnt' fantasy relevant with a record of 4-15-2 this season.
Description: Blue Jackets goalie Curtis McElhinney was great on Thursday, allowing just one goal and beating Pittsburgh, 2-1.
Insight: McElhinney made some fantastic glove saves including one on Sidney Crosby from close range in the second period. He is now 10-9-1 this season and has won five of his last six starts. There is a small chance that even when Sergei Bobrovsky comes back that McElhinney will remain the starter just because the Blue Jackets need to go on a winning streak to make the playoffs and can't afford to wait for Bobrovsky to find his stride again. Therefore, it's possible the team stays with the hot hand in McElhinney. Regardless, McElhinney should be owned in all leagues.
Description: Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury was spectacular again on Thursday but had nothing to show for it.
Insight: At the end of the first period, Columbus could have easily led Pittsburgh, 3-0 or even 4-0, but Fleury made some spectacular saves to keep the Blue Jackets to a, 1-0, lead. In the final three minutes and the game tied, 1-1, the Penguins turned the puck over in their own zone on the power play. Fleury made the first save on Matt Calvert but was unable to make the second save after teammate Blake Comeau ran into him. Fleury drops to 26-13-6 this season.
Description: Lightning goalie Ben Bishop stopped 24 of 25 shots en route to a 4-1 victory over Anaheim Wednesday night.
Insight: Bishop is putting together a second consecutive highly-effective season. After posting 37 wins in 2013-14, he's 29-10-3 with a 2.42 GAA and .912 save percentage this season. Our only complaint might be the one shutout versus five last season.
Description: Senators rookie goaltender Andrew Hammond was very impressive in his first NHL start as Ottawa defeated Montreal, 4-2, on Wednesday.
Insight: Hammond stopped 42-of-44 save opportunities as he was rushed into duty with fellow goaltenders Craig Anderson and Robin Lehner out with injuries. He is not yet fantasy relevant in standard leagues, but he should be on the radar of daily fantasy owners.
Description: Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford recorded 26 saves in the loss on Wednesday to the Red Wings.
Insight: Chicago never led in the game, but they did score twice within a minute of Detroit taking the lead. Crawford allowed two of three shootout attempts to slip past him, so the Red Wings won, 3-2.
Description: Predators goalie Pekka Rinne had a dream game for fantasy owners on Tuesday.
Insight: The only thing Rinne didn't do was record the shutout. He allowed just one goal, making 42 saves versus the Sharks. Rinne is now 34-7-2 this season and improved upon his .197 GAA and .931 save percentage, which were his numbers coming into Tuesday.
Description: Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury played well, but Pittsburgh lost again to Washington, 3-1.
Insight: Fleury stopped 30-of-32 attempts in the game. The only goals he allowed were a breakaway from Alex Ovechkin and a five-on-three power-play goal. The Penguins, however, have been unable to score on Branden Holtby this season. They have scored just one goal against him in nine periods. Fleury falls to 26-12-6 this season.
Description: Capitals netminder Braden Holtby allowed just one goal on 33 shots versus the Penguins on Tuesday.
Insight: Holtby picked up his third victory of the season versus the Penguins. He has allowed just one goal in nine periods against Pittsburgh. Holtby has been one of the most valuable fantasy goalies this season based on his ADP. He is 27-12-9 this season.
Description: Blue Jackets goalie Sergei Bobrovsky (groin) could be ready to play by the end of the month.
Insight: He has not been able to practice quite yet, but has been skating on his own. Bobrovsky has just a 2.85 GAA and .913 save percentage this season, but should be an upgrade for fantasy owners who need him to return from injury.
Description: Coyotes goalie Mike McKenna will start on Monday night.
Insight: This will be his first game in an Arizona uniform, with Devan Dubnyk assuming his spot atop the depth chart. McKenna will be a cheap option in daily fantasy, but is not a recommended option for owners to add off the waiver wire.
Description: Kings goalie Jonathan Quick will likely start Monday night.
Insight: With Los Angeles on the outside of the playoff picture, the Kings will continue to ride Quick, as it will be his 12th consecutive start. He has a 2.50 GAA and .909 save percentage through 47 games this season.
Description: Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury took a very tough loss versus the Blackhawks on Sunday.
Insight: Fleury played extremely well, stopping 31-of-32 Chicago shots, but he couldn't get a stop in the shootout. Chicago's shooters, Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Patrick Sharp, all had tremendous moves and beat Fleury. Chicago won, 2-1.
Description: Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford made 36 saves in the victory over the Penguins on Sunday.
Insight: Crawford struggled in the shootout, allowing two goals, but he did stop Kris Letang's attempt, and the Blackhawks converted all three of their shootout attempts. Chicago won, 2-1. Crawford is 23-12-3 this season.
Description: Ducks goaltender Frederik Andersen skated with the team on Saturday according to the Orange County Register, but still will not play on Sunday versus the Capitals.
Insight: Despite missing more time, the fact he skated was a good sign. Andersen has not played since the net fell on him last week. The Ducks have missed him as they have allowed seven goals in the two games Andersen has missed. He is 29-8-5 with a 2.37 GAA and .916 save percentage this season.
Description: Canadiens goaltender Carey Price picked up his 31st victory of the season on Saturday.
Insight: Price stopped 28-of-29 shots against the Maple Leafs and then turned aside two out of three Toronto shootout attempts. Montreal won in the shootout, 2-1. Price is 31-11-2 with a GAA below 2.00 this season.
