Dave Bolland, C2/8/2014 10:02:00 AM
Description: Maple Leafs center Dave Bolland (ankle) should return after the Olympic break.
Insight: He skated with the team on Wednesday, but with one game remaining before the break it would make no sense to rush him back onto the ice. Bolland has 10 points in 15 games plus 18 PIM and 27 SOG so he certainly has fantasy value when he returns.

Description: Leafs center Nazem Kadri scored two goals in an eight-minute stretch during the second period Tuesday against the Lightning.

Description: Leafs right wing David Clarkson left Saturday's game against the NY Rangers after taking a shot by Michael Del Zotto off the foot.

Description: Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Carl Gunnarsson left Saturday's game against the NY Rangers with an upper body injury.

The winger said after the game that he didn't mean to cross-check Eaves so high. Lupul was suspended for two games last season for a head shot on Tampa Bay's Victor Hedman and the NHL will probably take that into account when deciding his punishment.

Description: Maple Leafs goaltender Jonathan Bernier made 41 saves on 43 shots in 65 minutes and then won the shootout Wednesday in the NHL Winter Classic in Michigan Stadium.

Description: As expected, Maple Leafs center Tyler Bozak will return from an oblique Sunday against the Hurricanes. SOURCE: Jonas Siegel, TSN 1050

Jonathan Bernier, G12/23/2013 10:35:00 PM
Description: Maple Leafs goaltender Jonathan Bernier stopped 42 of 43 shots in 65 minutes Monday but he couldn't stop the Rangers in the shootout.

Joffrey Lupul, RW10/9/2013 1:36:00 PM
Description: Toronto right wing Joffrey Lupul is questionable for Thursday's game against the Predators. SOURCE: James Mirtle, Globe and Mail
Insight: Lupul, who is dealing with a knee bruise, did make the trip to Nashville. He already has three goals and two assists this season and should be able to add to those totals if he plays Thursday night.
Jonathan Bernier, G10/8/2013 5:41:00 PM
Description: Jonathan Bernier will start in net Tuesday against the Avalanche.
Insight: Bernier relieved James Reimer Saturday and came away with a 5-4 shootout win. He's 2-0 with just a 0.64 GAA while Reimer has given up seven goals in 91 minutes. Look for this to be a hot-hand situation, and right now Bernier has the hot hand.
Nazem Kadri, C10/5/2013 10:57:00 PM
Description: Toronto center Nazem Kadri scored a goal and had one assist Saturday against the Senators.
Insight: Kadri was a -3 for the game as the Leafs allowed four 5-on-5 goals. The 22-year-old broke out with 18 goals and 44 points in 48 games last season and should continue to build on that even as the second-line center behind Tyler Bozak.
Joffrey Lupul, RWHot10/5/2013 10:54:00 PM
Description: Toronto forward Joffrey Lupul has four points in the first three games this season.
Insight: Lupul scored his first goal Saturday against the Senators and added one assist and seven SOG. The oft-injured winger scored 85 points in 82 games combined the previous two seasons.
Jonathan Bernier, G10/5/2013 10:45:00 PM
Description: Toronto goalie Jonathan Bernier came on in relief Saturday against the Senators and ended up picking up a shootout win while allowing zero goals on 15 shots.
Insight: James Reimer was pulled after giving up four goals on 21 shots in 31 minutes. Reimer has given up seven goals to Bernier's one this season, giving Bernier the early lead for starts in this timeshare.
Nikolai Kulemin, LW10/5/2013 6:48:00 PM
Description: Toronto left winger Nikolai Kulemin (ankle) will miss two weeks, according to the Toronto Star.
Insight: Kulemin has a chipped bone in his ankle. He skated on the second line with Nazem Kadri and Joffrey Lupul over the first two games and had two assists.
James Reimer, G10/5/2013 11:47:00 AM
Description: Leafs netminder James Reimer will get the start Saturday against Ottawa.
Insight: Reimer is in a roughly 50/50 timeshare with Jonathan Bernier in net. He won his first start of the season Tuesday against the Senators (34 saves on 37 shots).
Dave Bolland, C10/2/2013 10:43:00 PM
Description: Dave Bolland notched his first goals as a Maple Leaf Wednesday in a victory over the Flyers.
Insight: Bolland's two goals both came in the third period. Wednesday marked Bolland's first multi-goal game since March 31st against the Red Wings. Joffrey Lupul assisted on both tallies.
Phil Kessel, RW10/2/2013 7:23:00 PM
Description: Leafs right wing Phil Kessel agreed to an eight-year contract extension on Tuesday. SOURCE: MapleLeafs.com
Insight: He'll earn $40 million over the length of his contract. Kessel's MVP potential makes this deal somewhat of a bargain.
Frazer McLaren, LW10/2/2013 10:05:00 AM
Description: Maple Leafs winger Frazer McLaren was placed on injured reserve with a broken pinky finger.
Insight: McLaren had previously been listed as day-to-day. He can't help your fantasy team with scoring (five points in 36 games), but he's posted 102 penalty minutes if you need help in that category.
James van Riemsdyk, LW10/1/2013 10:34:00 PM
Description: Maple Leafs left wing James van Riemsdyk scored Toronto's first goal of the season Tuesday against the Canadiens.
Insight: JVR had a career-high 18 goals in 2012-13, but he faded in the final two months with four in his last 22 games.
Dion Phaneuf, D10/1/2013 10:31:00 PM
Description: Toronto defenseman Dion Phaneuf had a goal on three shots Tuesday in the season opener.
Insight: Phaneuf played all 48 games during the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season and had nine goals, 19 assists, 88 SOG and 65 PIM. He's one of the top blueliners in fantasy hockey.
James Reimer, G10/1/2013 10:30:00 PM
Description: Maple Leafs goalie James Reimer opened up the season on the right foot by making 34 saves against the Canadiens in a 4-3 win Tuesday night.
Insight: Reimer went 19-8-5 with a 2.46 GAA and a .924 SV% last season and will need more performances like Tuesday to avoid losing starts to Jonathan Bernier.
James Reimer, G10/1/2013 6:47:00 PM
Description: The Maple Leafs will go with James Reimer in net for the season opener against the Canadiens Tuesday. He was 2-1 with a 1.85 GAA, a .948 SV% and one shutout in three starts against Montreal last season.
Insight: Reimer went 19-8-5 with a 2.46 GAA and a .924 SV% last season but allowed five goals in Game 7 of the first round against the Boston Bruins as the Leafs choked away a 4-1 third-period lead. Toronto then acquired Jonathan Bernier from the Kings in the offseason. The two will likely split starts evenly.
David Clarkson, RW9/24/2013 7:33:00 PM
Description: According to the Toronto Star, Toronto forward David Clarkson's 10-game suspension was made official Monday night.
Insight: Clarkson came off the bench to defend Phil Kessel in what turned out to be a major brawl during Sunday's preseason game. He's eligible to return Oct. 25, but he could appeal to have his suspension shortened. In his first season with the Maple Leafs, Clarkson will play a top-six role. He carries good fantasy value for his goal scoring and PIM.
Phil Kessel, RW9/24/2013 7:19:00 PM
Description: The NHL has suspended Toronto's Phil Kessel for the final three preseason games for his role in an altercation with Buffalo's John Scott.
Insight: Kessell performed two two-handed slashes against Scott so he'll sit out for a few meaningless games. Fantasy owners can expect to have him for the season opener.
David Clarkson, RW9/23/2013 9:41:00 PM
Description: Suspensions could be on the way for Toronto forwards David Clarkson and Phil Kessel.
Insight: Both were involved in a major brawl Sunday against Buffalo. Six-foot-eight John Scott of the Sabres tried to goad Kessel into fighting which led to Kessel slashing at him with his stick. Clarkson left the bench during the fight, which draws an automatic ten-game suspension. We expect the league to hand out punishments shortly.
