Insight: It was his first official game since being stretchered off the ice with a concussion and a broken nose in the playoffs against Ottawa last season. The 24-year-old Eller had eight goals, 22 assists, 84 SOG, 45 PIM and a +8 in 46 games last season and should challenge the 60-point mark in 2013-14.

Description: Calgary center Mike Cammalleri (hand) did not skate Tuesday and will not play Thursday, but could play as early as Friday, according to Pat Steinberg of Fan960.
Insight: Cammalleri has the ability to score (as many as 39 goals in 2009 with Calgary), but also gives it up at the other end of the ice. He posted 13 goals and 19 assists last season in 44 games. He also had an ugly -15 rating.

Insight: Parros is an enforcer, who doesn't provide much for owners in the way of scoring, except penalty minutes where he's usually good for 100-plus.

Insight: Gionta has been a 20-goal scorer for most of his career when healthy. If he's not ready for the opener, he'll certainly be back in the lineup soon after.
