Parise brings Olympic heat back to NHL

By Steve Schwarz, Fantasy Sports Editor

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Fresh off of his huge Olympic effort, Zach Parise picked up two assists on Tuesday night, helping lead New Jersey to a 4-3 win over the San Jose Sharks.

Parise, along with defenseman Brian Rafalski led silver medalist Team USA with eight points. It was Parise's goal with 24.4 seconds remaining in the gold medal game against Canada that sent the game into overtime. He also scored both goals in a 2-0 win against Switzerland which put the team into the semifinal game.

Back to his mundane job of trying to help the New Jersey Devils win the Stanley Cup, Parise extended his NHL scoring streak to four games.

The 25-year-old hasn't exactly produced as expected this season. His preseason ADP (Average Draft Position) had him holding down the No.4 spot behind only superstars Alex Ovechkin, Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby, but he's currently ranked just 17th in scoring with 63 points (28G, 35A).

He does have a solid plus/minus rating (+24) and is second in shots on goal to Ovechkin with 267 so you certainly can't call it a disappointing season, it's just not quite enough to be great.

Still, after a superb Olympics, it's possible he will carry the momentum over to the final NHL 20 games and end up giving you "fair market value" for the high draft pick.
