Miami Dolphins Player Notes
For The Last 365 Days

DeVante Parker, WR6/9/2015 11:48:00 AM
Description: Miami Dolphins rookie wide receiver DeVante Parker (No. 14 overall pick) had foot surgery last Friday and according to a Palm Beach Post report by Andrew Abramson is on an 8-12 week timetable.
Insight: Based on facts from the article, however, the average player with this injury returns in 12.3 weeks, so lets look at the high end of the estimate. The Louisville alum Parker is expected to grab the spot opposite second-year receiver Jarius Landry. With an improving Ryan Tannehill under center, Parker could be a nice late-round pick with upside.
DeVante Parker, WR6/5/2015 1:47:00 PM
Description: Miami Dolphins rookie wide receiver DeVante Parker (No. 14 overall pick) had foot surgery on Friday and is questionable for the start of the season.
Insight: The Louisville alum Parker was expected to grab the spot opposite second-year receiver Jarius Landry to replace the departed Mike Wallace. With an improving Ryan Tannehill under center, Parker could be a nice late-round pick with upside.
Tony Lippett, WR5/2/2015 2:54:00 PM
Description: The Dolphins needed WR help this offseason and added Tony Lippett from MSU in the fifth round.
Insight: The 2014 Big Ten Wide Receiver of the Year, finished his Michigan State career with 149 catches for 2,247 yards and 15 TDs, but ran a 4.61 at the Combine and seems to have limited value behind Jarvis Landry, top pick DeVante Parker and recently acquired Kenny Stills.
Jay Ajayi, RB5/2/2015 2:36:00 PM
Description: The Miami Dolphins added running back help with a fifth-round selection from Boise State - Jay Ajayi.
Insight: Ajayi might have been a second-day selection except for worries about a right knee issue. At Boise he rushed for 3,796 yards and 50 touchdowns and caught 73 balls. He ran a 4.57 40 at the Combine.
DeVante Parker, WR4/30/2015 9:43:00 PM
Description: The Miami Dolphins selected Louisville wide receiver DeVante Parker with the No. 14 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
Insight: This is a nice fit for Miami. Parker has been described to have the catch radius like an A.J. Green. He should complement second-year receiver Jarius Landry well and replace the departed Mike Wallace.
Greg Jennings, WR4/22/2015 6:22:00 PM
Description: Former Vikings wideout Greg Jennings has reportedly agreed to a deal with Miami.
Insight: It is a two-year, $8 million deal. Jennings will likely play behind Jarvis Landry and Kenny Stills.
Josh Freeman, QB4/3/2015 1:46:00 PM
Description: The Dolphins have signed QB Josh Freeman to a one-year deal.
Insight: Freeman hasn't thrown a pass since the disaster in minnesota and shouldn't see any playing time in Miami barring multiple injuries at the position.
Charles Clay, TE3/17/2015 10:51:00 PM
Description: Dolphins tight end Charles Clay signed a five-year $38 million offer sheet with the Buffalo Bills according to The Buffalo News.
Insight: The Dolphins applied the transition tag to Clay, which means they have the right to match any offer sheet Clay signs. Miami, however, likely didn't think Clay would get an offer this high. The deal includes $20 million guaranteed and $24.2 million over the first two years. Miami has five days to match the offer, and if they decide not to, the Dolphins will receive no compensation.
Mike Wallace, WR3/13/2015 7:09:00 PM
Description: Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace may be on the verge of being traded to the Vikings, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.
Insight: Wallace would be a nice addition for Minnesota. We will update you if the trade becomes official.
Kenny Stills, WR3/13/2015 1:14:00 PM
Description: Saints receiver Kenny Stills has been traded to the Miami Dolphins, according to ProFootballTalk.
Insight: Stills was a solid option for Drew Brees with 63 catches for 931 yards and three scores despite being the No. 3 target behind Jimmy Graham and Brandin Cooks. He'll move up in the pecking order in Miami and could be the No. 1 option.
Jordan Cameron, TE3/12/2015 8:19:00 PM
Description: Update: The Dolphins have signed tight end Jordan Cameron.
Insight: Things continue to get weird in NFL free agency. Earlier it was reported Cameron had agreed to return to the Browns, but apparently that is not the case. Cameron will now take his talents to South Beach.
Brian Hartline, WR3/10/2015 6:04:00 PM
Description: Wideout Brian Hartline has signed a two-year contract with the Cleveland Browns.
Insight: This isn't a big splash deal, but Hartline has a chance to be a top receiver for Josh McCown next season. By no means does that make Hartline a top fantasy wide receiver, but he has a chance to put up better stats than he had a season ago.
Charles Clay, FB/TE3/2/2015 4:20:00 PM
Description: The Dolphins have assigned the transition tag to tight end Charles Clay.
Insight: Using the transition tag instead of the franchise tag saves Miami $1.27 million. The Dolphins will now have the right ro match any offer Clay signs, but will receive no compensation if he walks. It is likely Clay will be back in South Beach for the 2015 campaign.

Brian Hartline, WR12/28/2014 6:33:00 PM
Description: Miami wideout Brian Hartline had five receptions for 94 yards in Week 17.
Insight: Hartline led the Dolphins in receiving on Sunday but didn't have the season owners would have liked as the rookie Jarvis Landry took over the WR2 role in Miami. Hartline had 39 catches for 474 yards.
Lamar Miller, RB12/28/2014 6:30:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller ended 2014 on a high note.

Ryan Tannehill, QB12/28/2014 6:27:00 PM
Description: Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill had another decent fantasy day in Week 17.
Insight: Tannehill was 23-of-39 for 259 yards and a touchdown. The Jets, however, sacked Tannehill seven times. For anyone still doubting if the league is a passing league, Tannehill had a 4,000-yard passing season.
Mike Wallace, WR12/21/2014 5:09:00 PM
Description: Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace scored two touchdowns during Sunday's victory over the Vikings.
Insight: He caught five passes for 58 yards. Wallace has rebounded during his second season with the Dolphins, and now has 10 touchdowns overall.
Charles Clay, FB/TE12/21/2014 5:06:00 PM
Description: Dolphins tight end Charles Clay recorded a team-high 114 receiving yards in Week 16.
Insight: He did so on six catches. Clay also had a team-high 10 targets, but is no more than a TE2.
Lamar Miller, RB12/21/2014 5:04:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller came to life during Week 16.
Insight: He had 19 carries for 92 yards and a score, along with five receptions for 58 more yards.
Ryan Tannehill, QB12/21/2014 5:02:00 PM
Description: Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill had a monster game on Sunday.
Insight: He was 35-of-47 for 396 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception. Tannehill will be a borderline QB1 for Week 17, in leagues that are still going on.
Charles Clay, FB/TE12/14/2014 7:37:00 PM
Description: Dolphins tight end Charles Clay jad six catches for 59 yards versus the Patriots.

Jarvis Landry, WR12/14/2014 7:34:00 PM
Description: Dolphins receiver Jarvis Landry continued his impressive rookie campaign versus the Patriots.
Insight: Landry had a team-high eight catches for 99 yards. With all the great rookie wide receivers, Landry is sort of forgotten, but he is having a tremendous rookie season.
Mike Wallace, WR12/14/2014 7:31:00 PM

Insight: Wallace caught five passes for 104 yards and a touchdown against the tough Patriots secondary. That's Wallace's biggest yardage total of the season along with his eighth touchdown catch.
Lamar Miller, RB12/14/2014 7:27:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller continues to disappoint down the stretch.
Insight: Miller averaged just 2.9 yards per carry on his way to 47 rushing yards versus the Patriots. Miller has not gained more than 60 yards rushing since Nov. 13. Miller is a shaky RB2.
Ryan Tannehill, QB12/14/2014 7:24:00 PM
Description: Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill was 29-of-47 with 346 yards but those numbers are a bit misleading.
Insight: Tannehill struggled in New England like he always does, throwing two interceptions and taking four sacks. Tannehill is better served as a QB2.
Charles Clay, FB/TE12/11/2014 4:39:00 PM
Description: Dolphins tight end Charles Clay (hamstring, knee) was limited during Thursday's practice.
Insight: Clay barely ever practices in full. He will be a TE2 against the Patriots for Week 15.
Mike Wallace, WR12/7/2014 6:44:00 PM
Description: Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace had only 39 yards on Sunday.

Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller totaled 89 yards in Sunday's loss to the Ravens.
Insight: He had 12 carries for 53 yards and five catches for 36 yards, but did not find the end zone. Miller is a fine RB2.
Ryan Tannehill, QB12/7/2014 6:40:00 PM
Description: Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill threw for 227 yards on Sunday.
Insight: He also had a touchdown, but that was the extent of his day. Tannehill is more of a QB2.
Charles Clay, FB/TE12/7/2014 12:21:00 PM
Description: Dolphins tight end Charles Clay (hamstring, knee) is back on the field for Week 14.
Insight: Clay has been struggling with his knee all season and hasn't been able to produce the fantasy numbers we had hoped for. He's only an emergency option.
Mike Wallace, WR12/2/2014 9:28:00 AM
Description: Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace caught six balls for a team-leading 69 yards, but dropped a touchdown pass.
Insight: Ryan Tannehill threw his way often, with 11 targets, but he was unproductive. We like the rookie Jarvis Landry better.
Jarvis Landry, WR12/2/2014 9:26:00 AM
Description: Dolphins receiver Jarvis Landry led the team with 11 targets and eight receptions.
Insight: Landry totaled 68 yards, but like the rest of the Dolphins offense didn't really get going. He's still the most reliable of the Miami receivers.
Ryan Tannehill, QB12/2/2014 9:23:00 AM
Description: Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill was not much of a value Monday night, but did manage to throw for 235 yards.

Charles Clay, FB/TE12/1/2014 7:11:00 PM
Description: Dolphins tight end Charles Clay (hamstring, knee) is officially out for Monday's game against the Jets.
Insight: No surprise here, as Clay was listed as doubtful heading in. Hopefully owners started another option.
Mike Wallace, WR11/24/2014 11:55:00 AM
Description: Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace caught four of five targets for 35 yards and a touchdown.
Insight: Ryan Tannehill threw a lot of short passes and that left Wallace with little production. At least his seven touchdowns this season have helped make up for his lack of yards (592).
Jarvis Landry, WRHot11/24/2014 11:52:00 AM
Description: Dolphins receiver Jarvis Landry has become Ryan Tannehill's new favorite receiver.
Insight: Landry was targeted a team-high 11 times, catching seven for 50 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He's not a bug yardage guy, but he does have four scores in the last four games.
Ryan Tannehill, QB11/24/2014 11:51:00 AM
Description: Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill didn't throw for a lot of yards, but fantasy owners can't complain with his output against Denver.

Lamar Miller, RB11/24/2014 11:44:00 AM

Insight: The Denver defense held him in check and he totaled 67 yards and no touchdowns.
Lamar Miller, RB11/23/2014 3:17:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller (shoulder, knee) is officially active for Week 12.
Insight: Even with a tough matchup, owners should start Miller as they normally would.
Lamar Miller, RB11/21/2014 7:12:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller is questionable for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
Insight: Miller suffered a shoulder sprain during Week 9, but his latest injury is a knee issue. Miller said he expects to play, but if he doesn't fantasy owners are unsure as to which Dolphins running back will start. Daniel Thomas had 25 touches last Thursday, but Damien Williams is more talented. Williams had two touches last week.
Charles Clay, FB/TE11/20/2014 3:15:00 PM
Description: Dolphins tight end Charles Clay will be a game-time decision, according to Adam Caplan
Insight: Clay is still seeing plenty of targets, but his right knee issue seems to be holding him from breaking any big plays. The Dolphins need all their weapons to keep up with the Broncos this weekend.
Will Davis, CB11/14/2014 1:44:00 PM
Description: The Miami defense has lost cornerback Will Davis for the season with a torn ACL, according to Dolphins beat reporter James Walker.

Charles Clay, FB/TE11/14/2014 9:43:00 AM
Description: Dolphins tight end Charles Clay had five receptions for 31 yards against Buffalo.
Insight: Clay is still seeing plenty of targets, but his right knee issue seems to be holding him from breaking any big plays.
Jarvis Landry, WR11/14/2014 9:39:00 AM
Description: Dolphins receiver Jarvis Landry had five catches for 46 yards and a touchdown against the Bills Thursday night
Insight: Landry has caught at least five balls in the last three contests. He fumbled a punt after the safety, but made up for it with his second touchdown reception in three weeks. He's a low-end option in league which include return yardage.
Mike Wallace, WR11/14/2014 9:38:00 AM
Description: Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace was dull Thursday night, catching four of seven targets for 38 yards.
Insight: Ryan Tannehill threw a lot of short passes and that left Wallace with little production.
Ryan Tannehill, QB11/14/2014 9:36:00 AM
Description: Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill used the short pass all evening to try to negate the Bills pass rush and it worked.
Insight: Tannehill went 26-of-34 for 240 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in leading Miami to a 22-9 victory. He also rushed for 16 yards, though had opportunities to rush for more and didn't take them.
Lamar Miller, RB11/14/2014 9:35:00 AM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller (shoulder) was a bit a question mark heading into Week 11, but proved to be a solid fantasy option.
Insight: Miller rushed 15 times for 86 yards and caught a couple of passes for 12 yards. That's about as good as could be expected from him against a tough Bills defense and dealing with health issues.
Lamar Miller, RB11/13/2014 7:27:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller (shoulder) is officially active Thursday against Buffalo.
Insight: No surprise here, but owners should expect Miller to be somewhat limited. He is a borderline RB2.

Description: Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill will start against the Bills on Thursday night according to the Miami Herald.
Insight: Tannehill injured his shoulder trying to make a tackle on an interception return against the Lions. Tannehill also took a couple shots in the pocket. Despite that, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reported there is "no doubt" he will play. Tannehill is a QB2 this week versus the Bills.
Lamar Miller, RB11/11/2014 2:06:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller (shoulder) practiced Tuesday in advance of Thursday's game against Buffalo.
Insight: He did very little against a tough Detroit defense (four carries, 10 yards) and has another tough assignment against a solid Bills defense. If you have another reliable option, it would probably be best to go there.
Lamar Miller, RB11/10/2014 4:55:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller (shoulder) did not suffer a setback in Sunday's loss to Detroit.
Insight: The injury clearly affected him though, as he totaled only four rushes for 10 yards. With Miami playing on Thursday, Miller should be considered a high-risk RB2 at best, against the Bills.
Branden Albert, T11/10/2014 2:10:00 PM
Description: Dolphins left tackle Branden Albert tore the right ACL and MCL and is done for the season.
Insight: It's a huge blow as he was playing at an All-Pro level. This will hurt Lamar Miller's fantasy value as well as the passing game.
Charles Clay, FB/TE11/9/2014 5:52:00 PM
Description: Dolphins tight end Charles Clay had seven receptions in Sunday's loss to the Lions.
Insight: Clay totaled 45 yards, and should be considered a borderline TE1 for the rest of the season.

Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller had his worst performance of the season.
Insight: He was battling a shoulder injury, and had only 10 rushing yards on four carries, and one catch for minus-four yards. Owners need to pray Miller gets healthy quickly.

Description: Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill threw for 201 yards during Sunday's loss to Detroit.
Insight: Tannehill also had one touchdown and one interception, but produced nothing on the ground. He will look to rebound Thursday versus Buffalo.
Lamar Miller, RB11/9/2014 11:43:00 AM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller (shoulder) is active Sunday against the Lions.

Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller could be limited on Sunday, according to Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald.
Insight: He is battling a shoulder injury, and while Miller is expected to be active, his workload is in question. If Miller is not a full-go, Daniel Thomas and Damien Williams would see increased time.

Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller is listed as probable for Sunday's game against Detroit.

Jarvis Landry, WR11/2/2014 7:05:00 PM
Description: Dolphins receiver Jarvis Landry had five catches for 46 yards and a touchdown against the Chargers on Sunday.
Insight: Ryan Tannehill spread the ball around pretty evenly. Despite the the good game, it is hard to predict what kind of production Landry will get going forward.
Mike Wallace, WR11/2/2014 7:00:00 PM
Description: Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace had three catches for 50 yards on Sunday against the Chargers.
Insight: Wallace nearly had a nice one-handed catch in the corner of the end zone, but he was unable to bring it in. Without a score, Wallace brought in an average fantasy day. Ryan Tannehill spread the ball around very well. Wallace still was tied for the team lead with eight targets.
Ryan Tannehill, QB11/2/2014 6:47:00 PM
Description: Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill threw for 288 yards and three touchdowns against the Chargers on Sunday.
Insight: Owners expected this kind of production versus the Jaguars in Week 8. Hopefully, owners stuck with Tannehill to reap the benefits of one of the best days of his career. Tannehill spread the ball around as three different receivers had five catches and three different guys caught the touchdowns, none of which, are named Mike Wallace. Tannehill also added 47 rushing yards.
Lamar Miller, RB11/2/2014 3:28:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller left the field with assistance after a short run and appeared to injure his left shoulder.

Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller is listed as probable for Sunday's game against Detroit.

Charles Clay, FB/TE11/2/2014 12:07:00 PM
Description: Dolphins tight end Charles Clay (knee) is active for Week 9.
Insight: He had only one reception for one yard, but should be a bigger part of the offense in Week 9. Still, he's not a great fantasy option with just 22 receptions for 205 yards and one touchdown this season.
Jake Long, T10/27/2014 11:06:00 AM
Description: Rams left tackle Jake Long apparently tore the right ACL in Sunday's game and has already been placed on injured reserve.
Insight: It's the same knee that he tore up last season and this could be the end for the four-time Pro Bowl lineman.
Charles Clay, FB/TE10/26/2014 7:08:00 PM
Description: Dolphins tight end Charles Clay had a day to forget Sunday against the jaguars.
Insight: he had only one reception for one yard, and is no more than a TE2 moving forward.
Mike Wallace, WR10/26/2014 7:07:00 PM
Description: Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace led the team in receiving during Week 8's win.
Insight: He had two catches for 59 yards, on seven targets. Although this was not Wallace's best performance of the season, he will continue to be a good option for fantasy owners.

Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller had a solid afternoon.

Description: Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill threw for 196 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in Sunday's win over Jacksonville.

Dion Jordan, DE10/25/2014 4:46:00 PM
Description: The Dolphins activated defensive end Dion Jordan from suspension.
Insight: Jordan will make his season debut on Sunday against the Jaguars. The Dolphins will likely ease him slowly back into the starting lineup.
Charles Clay, FB/TE10/19/2014 7:03:00 PM
Description: Dolphins tight end Charles Clay had four catches for 58 yards and a touchdown.
Insight: After being fantasy irrelevant for much of this season, Clay showed up in Chicago during Week 7. It was nice to see though Clay was likelt no in many lineups.
Mike Wallace, WR10/19/2014 7:01:00 PM
Description: Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace caught his fifth touchdown of 2014.
Insight: Wallace has been one of the most consistent fantasy wide receivers this season. He had five catches for 46 yards against the Bears and scored again. He is a solid WR2 in a 12-team league.
Lamar Miller, RB10/19/2014 6:54:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller ran for 61 yards on 18 carries against the Bears.
Insight: In the first game since Knowshon Moreno's season-ending injury, Miller was just OK, averaging 3.4 yards per carry. He did add a touchdown.

Lamar Miller, RBHot10/19/2014 12:14:00 PM

Ryan Tannehill, QB10/19/2014 12:05:00 PM
Description: Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill's ankle was always a minor issue and he will play Sunday as expected.
Insight: He had 244 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in his last game and had thrown for two scores in each of the past two games. despite that, Tannehill is no more than a QB2.
Lamar Miller, RBHot10/19/2014 12:03:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller has been dealing with a sore knee that limited him in practice, but there was never a real thought that he wouldn't play Sunday

Lamar Miller, RBHot10/16/2014 4:04:00 PM

Lamar Miller, RBHot10/14/2014 11:34:00 AM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller's fantasy value jumps up with the surprising news that Knowshon Moreno has been placed on injured reserve due to an ACL tear.
Insight: Miller has scored three times in the past two weeks and additional carries will make him a viable fantasy option and borderline RB1.
Knowshon Moreno, RB10/14/2014 11:30:00 AM
Description: Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno, was a surprise return to the lineup in Week 6, now is a surprise member of the injured reserve after suffering an ACL tear against Green Bay.

Charles Clay, FB/TE10/13/2014 6:11:00 PM
Description: Dolphins tight end Charles Clay continues to disappoint fantasy owners with his production.
Insight: Clay began the season as a low-end TE1 in 12-team leagues, but he has not gained more than 35 yards in a game. His season-high came in Week 6 with 35 receiving yards.
Jarvis Landry, WR10/13/2014 6:10:00 PM
Description: Dolphins receiver Jarvis Landry led the team with six receptions, 75 yards and a touchdown in Week 6 against the Packers.
Insight: Mike Wallace had more targets, but Landry surprisingly caught more passes and went for more yards. Each receiver had one touchdown. Wallace is still the better fantasy receiver going forward, but keep an eye on Landry.
Mike Wallace, WR10/12/2014 6:44:00 PM
Description: Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace scored his fourth touchdown of 2014.
Insight: He chipped in five catches for 67 yards, as well. Wallace has bounced back nicely this season, and should be considered a WR3 with upside, moving forward.
Ryan Tannehill, QB10/12/2014 6:41:00 PM
Description: Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill rebounded from a slow start, to produce solid numbers.
Insight: He had 244 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Tannehill is no more than a QB2.
Lamar Miller, RB10/12/2014 12:25:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller will have to share carries with returning Knowshon Moreno.
Insight: Miller should still see the majority of the work this week as Moreno will likely be on a snap count. Next week he will be a lot riskier play, but for Week 6 he's still the best Dolphins option.
Knowshon Moreno, RB10/12/2014 12:10:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno is active for Week 6 against the Packers.
Insight: That is interesting because Moreno was limited in practice on Friday. On Thursday, he had problems practicing with a bulky brace on his healed dislocated elbow. We expect him to see around 6-10 touches with Lamar Miller still getting the bulk of the workload.
Lamar Miller, RB10/10/2014 7:53:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller is probable for Sunday's game against the Packers.
Insight: Miller was added to the injury report on Thursday with a foot injury. He did, however, practice in full on Friday. He is a bit of a risky play because Knowshon Moreno will likely also play. No one knows for sure how the workload will be divided.
Knowshon Moreno, RB10/10/2014 5:27:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno is listed as probable for Week 6 against the Packers.
Insight: That is interesting because Moreno was limited in practice on Friday. On Thursday, he had problems practicing with a bulky brace on his healed dislocated elbow. Even if he plays, it is a bit risky to count on Moreno getting the bulk of the carries over Lamar Miller in his first game back.
Knowshon Moreno, RB10/8/2014 12:51:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno (elbow) is back at practice Wednesday.
Insight: He is wearing a brace protecting his dislocated elbow, but it's a great sign he is back on the practice field. It is hard to determine who will see the majority of carries between him and Lamar Miller, but a timeshare should be expected. If Moreno suits up, he should be viewed as a RB3 with RB2 upside.
Knowshon Moreno, RB10/1/2014 3:24:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno (elbow) said he is four weeks away from returning according to the Palm Beach Post.
Insight: Miami initially hoped Moreno would return after their bye, which is next week, but that seems highly unlikely now. He is targeting a return in Week 8 against the Jaguars. Lamar Miller will continue to start at running back for the Dolphins.
Lamar Miller, RB9/28/2014 5:53:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller scores twice Sunday.
Insight: He had 12 carries for 64 yards. Miller will be a RB2 until Knowshon Moreno retuns to action.
Ryan Tannehill, QB9/28/2014 5:50:00 PM
Description: Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill plays well admist fued with coach.
Insight: He was 23-of-31 for 278 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. Joe Philbin will have no choice but to move forward with Tannehill at the helm.
Mike Wallace, WR9/28/2014 12:08:00 PM
Description: Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace is active for Week 4.
Insight: Wallace was dealing with a hamstring injury which is a concern for a speed receiver, but will be active.
Ryan Tannehill, QB9/25/2014 2:52:00 PM
Description: The Miami Herald reports Joe Philbin has apologized to the team for denying to commit publicly to Ryan Tannehill as the team's quarterback.
Insight: As bad as Tannehill has played, it was a poor choice to refuse to defend his quarterback to the media and continue to give Tannehill all the first team reps. Apparently, the players were making jokes in the locker room about the situation, and Tannehill has said it was a distraction. It seems Philbin is dangerously close to being shown the door in Miami. At least, fantasy owners now know that Tannehill is indeed the starter for Week 4.
Mike Wallace, WR9/22/2014 11:08:00 AM
Description: Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace was targetd 12 times against the Chiefs, but caught just five balls for 74 yards.
Insight: Wallace has only caught 17-of-31 targets (54.8 percent) this season, but did score in the first two games. We need that completion percentage to rise.
Ryan Tannehill, QB9/22/2014 11:02:00 AM
Description: Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill threw the ball 43 times against the Chiefs, managing just 205 yards and one score.
Insight: Tannehill has been throwing the ball too much over the past two weeks (92 attempts) with not much to show for it. He's still yet to throw for more than 241 yards this season and his fantasy value continues to remain low.
Lamar Miller, RB9/22/2014 10:58:00 AM
Description: Dolphins running back Lamar Miller took advantage of Knowshon Moreno's absence rushing 15 times for 108 yards.
Insight: Miller also caught four balls for 24 yards and was a solid fantasy option. He should continue to get the bulk of the work until Moreno returns so keep him in your lineups.
Dion Jordan, DE9/19/2014 8:36:00 PM
Description: The NFL suspended Dolphins DE Dion Jordan four games for violating the substance-abuse policy according to the Miami Herald.
Insight: Jordan was on track for reinstatement this week after the new substance-abuse policy lifted his previously imposed four-game PED suspension on Wednesday. He will now serve an additional four-game suspension and will not be able to return until Week 7.
Knowshon Moreno, RB9/19/2014 3:09:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno, out with a hyper-extended left elbow, told the Miami Herald he plans to return for Game 6.
Insight: That would have him returning for the Oct. 12 matchup against Green Bay. Lamar Miller with help from from Damien Williams will share the workload until then.
Brian Hartline, WRCold9/16/2014 3:14:00 PM
Description: Miami wideout Brian Hartline has not been able to find a niche in the Dolphins offense of late. He's got just seven catchers for 62 yards in the first two games this season.
Insight: Since a 253-yard output in Sept of 2012, Hartline has cracked the 100-yard mark just three times in 29 games. He's not a touchdown maker, either, just four over the same span and fantasy owners should not be looking to him to produce starter fantasy value.
Ryan Tannehill, QB9/16/2014 3:07:00 PM
Description: Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill threw the ball 49 times against the Buffalo Bills, managing 249 yards, one TD and one INT.
Insight: The loss of Knowshon Moreno may have had a lot to do with his high attempts total. We like how he and Mike Wallace are starting to come together and a passing combination.
Mike Wallace, WR9/14/2014 6:06:00 PM
Description: Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace caught five balls for 56 yards and a touchdown against the Bills in Week 2.
Insight: Wallace has a touchdown in each of the first two games in 2014. He also caught this TD pass one handed. Ryan Tannehill is still a liablilty with his accuracy, but so far, he is finding Wallace in the end zone.
Knowshon Moreno, RBHot9/14/2014 2:27:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno left Sunday's game against the Bills holding his left elbow. UPDATE: Will not return
Insight: It looked like Moreno may have hyper-extended his left elbow when he placed his left hand on the turf as he was falling to the ground. Damien Williams will share carries with Lamar Miller if Moreno is unable to return.
Knowshon Moreno, RBHot9/12/2014 3:07:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno (shoulder) is listed as probable for Week 2 due to the injury.
Insight: Moreno was a workhorse in Week 1 with 24 rushes for 134 yards. Outside of a 37-carry game against New England last season, Moreno had not run the ball that much since dec 2012. We loved the results, but we hope his workload stays at around 18-20 carries so he can make it through a 16-game schedule.
Lamar Miller, RB9/8/2014 4:46:00 PM
Description: Dolphins offensive coordinator Bill Lazor indicated Monday that he will continue to share the running back duties between Lamar Miller and Knowshon Moreno according to the Miami Hearld.
Insight: Both backs played well in the victory over New England on Sunday. Even though he didn't start, Moreno played on early downs while Miller played in passing situations. Moreno and Miller are both worth owning; we target Moreno as a RB2 in a 12-team league and Miller as a possible flex option.
Knowshon Moreno, RBHot9/7/2014 6:37:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno showed everyone why he was brought to South Beach.
Insight: Knowshon Moreno wasn't the official starter at tailback, but he showed fantasy owners he's the guy to have rushing more than twice as often as Lamar Miller (24-11) and posting 134-yards and a score..
Koa Misi, LB9/7/2014 2:10:00 PM
Description: Dolphins linebacker Koa Misi has left the game due to an ankle injury. His return is questionable.
Insight: Miami is short-handed at the position with Dannell Ellerbe also sidelined in the game. The absence of two linebackers could allow the Patriots some running room.
Knowshon Moreno, RB9/1/2014 4:39:00 PM
Description: Dolphins beat writer Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald says "it is clear Knowshon Moreno is Miami's lead running back."
Insight: Due to Moreno's knee surgery, Lamar Miller ran with the first-team for most of training camp and the preseason, but he averaged just 3.4 ypc while Moreno ran for 6.4. Miller is expected to have a package of plays, but he's going to be Miami's change-of-pace back.
Lamar Miller, RB8/27/2014 9:42:00 AM
Description: The Miami Herald speculates that Lamar Miller has the edge over Knowshon Moreno for the starting running back job.
Insight: Head coach Joe Philbin has been praising Miller all week saying statements such as, "I like everything Lamar has done since he's gotten here. He's had an excellent offseason and camp." Miller and Moreno have split the first-team carries, but Miller is supposed to be the guy for Week 1 and Moreno will move into the third down role.
Mike Wallace, WR8/23/2014 9:54:00 PM
Description: Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace caught six balls for 67 yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Cowboys.
Insight: That's a good sign for Wallace, who was dealing with a hamstring injury. It is also a good sign Wallace received a team-high eight targets. But until Tannehill can hit Wallace on the deep ball, the QB missed his receiver by a good five yards on a long pass, Wallace remains a quality WR2 or flex start. Wallace has been dealing with a minor hamstring injury and the Dolphins held him out as a precaution. Hopefully he can get back on the field for Miami's second preseason game so he can work on his chemistry with QB Ryan Tannehill. If Wallace stays healthy he should have a much better season than he did in 2013 (73 catches, 930 yards, five touchdowns) with creative new OC Bill Lazor calling the shots.
Knowshon Moreno, RB8/23/2014 9:42:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno ran for 64 yards on 10 carries in Saturday's preseason game against the Cowboys.
Insight: The running back scampered 19 yards on his first carry as a Dolphin and continued to run strong. Lamar Miller started the game, but the two running backs pretty much split time with the first team offense. Moreno provides great value with his ADP in the 10th round.
Ryan Tannehill, QB8/23/2014 9:34:00 PM
Description: Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill completed 13-of-21 passes for 119 yards and an interception in Saturday's preseason game against the Cowboys.
Insight: Miami's offense gained 232 yards with Tannehill under center against Dallas, but it yielded only three points due to turnovers and penalties. Tannehill's worst throw was his last when he stared down Brian Hartline and threw it right to cornerback Tyler Patmon. The quarterback also missed an open Mike Wallace on a deep pass by a good five yards. However, Tannehill is still a good QB2 option as he has gone 29-for-41 for 291 yards, one touchdown and an interception this preseason.
Daniel Thomas, RBCold8/23/2014 7:12:00 PM
Description: Miami running back Daniel Thomas (hamstring) will miss Miami's third preseason game.
Insight: Thomas won't play despite returning to practice this week. He has yet to play in a preseason game and could be in danger of losing his roster spot.
Knowshon Moreno, RB8/21/2014 4:48:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno (knee) is expected to suit up for Saturday's preseason game against Dallas according to the Miami Herald.
Insight: It will be Moreno's debut with the Dolphins and last chance to earn the No. 1 RB spot before Week 1. More than likely, he will be a change-of-pace back and pass protector while Lamar Miller gets most of the first and second down carries.
Knowshon Moreno, RB8/20/2014 9:09:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno (knee) says he's ready for game action and hopes to play in Saturday's preseason game against Dallas, according to the Miami Herald.
Insight: Moreno underwent a left knee scope in June and returned to practice a couple weeks ago. On Wednesday, he had his most impressive day of practice since returning. Moreno is likely going to end up in a timeshare with Lamar Miller.
Charles Clay, FB/TE8/18/2014 7:27:00 PM
Description: Dolphins tight end Charles Clay (knee) returned to practice Monday, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.
Insight: Clay missed the first two preseason games with a knee injury. The 25-year-old had 69 catches for 759 yards and six touchdowns and also carried seven times for 15 yards and a touchdown last season. He ranked seventh among tight ends in fantasy points.
Knowshon Moreno, RB8/12/2014 12:04:00 PM
Description: Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno (knee) finally participated in contract drills Monday.
Insight: Moreno underwent a left knee scope in June. He has a lot of ground to make up because Lamar Miller has been impressive in camp. Moreno's pass protection skills could prove useful for a team that has offensive line issues, so this could turn into a timeshare. Fantasy owners shouldn't draft either player as more than a flex option.
Ryan Tannehill, QB8/8/2014 8:41:00 PM
Description: Playing without starters Mike Wallace, Brian Hartline and Charles Clay, Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill went 6-of-6 for 62 yards and a touchdown in Friday's preseason opener against the Falcons.
Insight: Tannehill was sacked 10 times more than any other quarterback in the NFL last season, Miami had an ineffective running game and offensive coordinator Mike Sherman was painfully uncreative with high-priced receiver Mike Wallace, but Tannehill still threw for 3,913 yards and 24 touchdowns while running for 238 yards. The Dolphins brought in Bill Lazor from Philadelphia to run the offense and rebuilt the offensive line with Branden Albert and Ja'Wuan James, so Tannehill could have a breakout third season.
Mike Wallace, WR8/8/2014 8:35:00 PM
Description: Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace (hamstring) was held out of the preseason opener Friday along with Brian Hartline (knee) and Charles Clay (knee).
Insight: Wallace has been dealing with a minor hamstring injury and the Dolphins held him out as a precaution.
Ryan Tannehill, QB8/7/2014 11:42:00 AM
Description: Chris Perkins of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel has set what he calls "realistic" statistical goals for Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill at 4,100 yards, 28 TDs, 12 INTs and a playoff berth.
Insight: The Dolphins quarterback would need a lot of help from a rebuilt offensive line to reach thoses numbers. He was sacked a league-high 58 times in 2013. TSN is predicting a less-lofty 3,620 yards, 22 TDs, 16 INTs and two rushing touchdowns.
Knowshon Moreno, RB8/6/2014 7:12:00 PM
Description: The Dolphins have activated Knowshon Moreno (knee) from the active/PUP list.
Insight: Moreno underwent a left knee scope in June and missed seven weeks. He has a lot of ground to make up because Lamar Miller has been impressive in camp. Moreno's pass protection skills could prove useful for a team that has offensive line issues, so this could turn into a timeshare. Fantasy owners shouldn't draft either player as more than a flex option.
Charles Clay, FB/TE8/4/2014 1:43:00 PM
Description: Dolphins tight end Charles Clay injured a knee and is expected to miss multiple practices and perhaps the first preseason game, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.
Insight: This should not impact his availability for the season opener. Clay was a breakout tight end in his third season hauling in 69 balls for 749 yards and six touchdowns after catching 34 in his first two seasons combined. If the Dolphins offensive line will improve, so he doesn't have to help as often, he could continue to move up the tight end ranking.
Mike Wallace, WR8/4/2014 11:24:00 AM
Description: Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace (hamstring) was back on the practice field Monday.
Insight: The injury wasn't serious, but he did miss five practices. If Wallace stays healthy he should have a much better season than he did in 2013 (73 catches, 930 yards, five touchdowns) with creative new OC Bill Lazor calling the shots.
Knowshon Moreno, RB8/1/2014 9:51:00 PM
Description: According to the Miami Herald, Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno (knee) could miss the entire preseason.
Insight: Moreno was given a timetable of 4-5 weeks when he underwent his left knee scope in June, but he's now six weeks into his rehab. Lamar Miller has flown by Moreno on the depth chart and is the only Dolphins back fantasy owners should be drafting.
Mike Wallace, WR7/31/2014 7:58:00 PM
Description: Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace's hamstring injury will likely keep him out past Saturday's scrimmage, according to the Miami Herald.
Insight: The injury isn't serious, but it may cause him to miss the preseason opener next Friday and prevents him from getting valuable reps with Ryan Tannehill. If Wallace stays healthy he should have a much better season than he did in 2013 (73 catches, 930 yards, five touchdowns) with creative new OC Bill Lazor calling the shots.
Lamar Miller, RB7/27/2014 7:52:00 PM
Description: According to the Miami Herald, "there's a hope in Dolphins camp" that Lamar Miller can play the role of LeSean McCoy in new OC Bill Lazor's offense. Lazor spent last season as the Eagles' QB coach.
Insight: Miller has outplayed free agent acquisition Knowshon Moreno this offseason and is expected to be the unquestioned starter in Week 1. Moreno is still recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery. Miller put on 6-8 pounds of muscle this offseason after ranking 24th among running backs in yards after contact last season, and coach Joe Philbin doesn't think Miller has sacrificed any speed in getting bigger. McCoy led the NFL with 366 touches last season so Miller could be ticketed for a huge workload if Lazor is serious about making him the McCoy of its offense. We should see his seventh-round ADP rise in the coming weeks.
Ryan Tannehill, QB7/25/2014 11:25:00 AM
Description: According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins will add the read-option to the offense this season.
Insight: The Dolphins QB is athletic and this could lead to more rushing yards and touchdown opportunities. It could also open him up to more injuries. Tannehill was much improved in Year 2 and could be a viable fantasy starter this season if he continues his upward trend.
Mike Pouncey, C7/23/2014 1:33:00 PM
Description: Dolphins center Mike Pouncey (hip) is expected to be out until late October, according to the Miami Herald.
Insight: Pouncey needed surgery to repair a torn labrum in his hip after suffering the injury during OTAs. He was initially expected to be out the first 3-4 weeks of the season, but now he may not return until the second half. Miami improved its putrid offensive line by signing Branden Albert and drafting Ja'Wuan James, but Pouncey's loss is a big one.
