Adam Lind, DH, TOR7/11/2014 5:25:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays DH Adam Lind (foot) is now expected to be back playing games in 2-3 weeks, according to Ben Nicholson-Smith of sportsnet.ca.

Adam Lind, DH, TOR7/9/2014 8:14:00 PM
Description: Blue Jays DH Adam Lind will miss the next 6-8 weeks with a non-displaced fracture in his right foot, according to Gregor Chisholm of mlb.com.
Insight: Lind missed some time with a bone bruise in his right foot in June, and further testing revealed the fracture. The Blue Jays recently lost Edwin Encarnacion to a strained quad, so the middle of their order is getting thin.
Victor Martinez, DH, DETHot7/9/2014 1:28:00 PM
Description: Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said Wednesday that Victor Martinez (back) is unlikely to play again until after the All-Star break. SOURCE: Lynn Henning, Detroit News
Insight: Martinez left Friday's game after aggravating the back injury he's been dealing with since the end of June. If the Tigers place him on the DL retroactive to Saturday, he would have to sit out the first three games of the second half in addition to the rest of the first half. It sounds like the team plans to play with 24 players for the final four games before the break, however.
Chris Carter, DH, HOU7/9/2014 1:15:00 PM
Description: Houston DH Chris Carter went 2-for-4 with two solo homers Tuesday at Texas.
Insight: Carter (.194) has sent one to Souvenir City four times in his past four games and has 17 home runs this season. However, fantasy owners looking to ride his hot streak should think again with Yu Darvish on the hill Wednesday. Carter is 0-for-11 with seven Ks against the Rangers right-hander.

Insight: Martinez left Friday's game after aggravating the back injury he's been dealing with since the end of June. Description: Detroit DH Victor Martinez (back) is not in the lineup Tuesday.

Billy Butler, DH, KAN7/8/2014 10:27:00 AM
Description: Royals DH Billy Butler is a career .643 hitter (9-for-14) against Rays right-hander Jeremy Hellickson.
Insight: Butler still isn't hitting with any power (2 HR) and he's even struggling with his average over the past 10 games hitting just .195 over that span. Its a great matchup, but the struggling hitter may not be able to take advantage.
Adam Lind, DH, TOR7/7/2014 11:34:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays DH Adam Lind is a career .346 hitter (9-for-26) with a pair of homers and six RBI versus Angels right-hander Jered Weaver.
Insight: With Edwin Encarnacion big bat sidelined, Lind should be out there everyday and needs to produce. This favorable matchup should help. He's batting .328 with four homers, 27 RBI and an .897 OPS.
Victor Martinez, DH, DETHot7/6/2014 5:22:00 PM
Description: Detroit DH Victor Martinez was not in Saturday's starting lineup against Tampa Bay and has now been downgraded to out for Sunday night's game.

Insight: Martinez (.327) was scratched from Monday's lineup with soreness in his ribcage and also sat out the last two days, but he didn't miss a beat. He's just four home runs away from tying his career high of 25 and we aren't even at the All-Star break yet.

Victor Martinez, DH, DETHot7/1/2014 4:20:00 PM
Description: Detroit DH Victor Martinez was scratched from the lineup Monday due to soreness in his ribcage and is out for Tuesday's game against Oakland as well.
Insight: This is the type of injury that frequently prevents a player from swinging hard even after he returns to the lineup. Be wary of Martinez until he proves it isn't forcing him to change his swing. Too bad, because Martinez was on pace for a career-high 42 homers as well as 108 RBI and he's batting .323 with a .974 OPS.

Description: Twins DH/1B Kendrys Morales is 1-for-12 (.083) against Royals starter James Shields.
Insight: Morales didn't play the first two months of the season and entered the Twins lineup immediately after signing, so some rust was to be expected and that's what we've seen so far (.215, 1 HR, 9 RBI in 20 games). This unfavorable matchup isn't likely to turn it around.
David Ortiz, DH, BOS7/1/2014 10:02:00 AM
Description: Red Sox DH David Ortiz is 9-for-20 (.450) with two homers and eight RBI versus Cubs starter Edwin Jackson.
Insight: Ortiz's batting average (.250) is significantly down from past seasons, though he is still hitter for power (19 HR). This matchup may help on both fronts.
