Insight: Wieters is having an excellent April, hitting .366 with three homers, eight RBI and eight runs in 41 at-bats. The 27-year-old is a career .256 hitter and has hit 22-23 homers in each of the last three years.
Description: Yankees catcher Brian McCann's X-rays came back negative, according to mlb.com.
Insight: McCann was hit in the right hand after a ball ricocheted off Red Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski Sunday night. McCann's fingers bent in ways they aren't supposed to but he avoided a serious injury. The 30-year-old is hitting .205 with two homers and six RBI with his new team.
Description: Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina is not in Monday's starting lineup. Tony Cruz will get a rare start.
Insight: Molina is off to a hot start, batting .340 with three home runs and nine RBI. He's a top-two fantasy catcher and an true MVP candidate. Cruz batted .240 last season with no power (.533 OPS) and has no fantasy value.
Description: Pirates catcher Russell Martin is a lifetime .357 hitter with a pair of homers against Reds starter Homer Bailey.
Insight: Martin posted a six home run April in 2013 and is off to a .281 start this season with a four-game hitting streak, 25 points above his career numbers. Bad weather is in the forecast, however, so be prepared to make changes if you plan on starting him.
Description: New York catcher Brian McCann will get x-rays on his right index finger and taking a pitch off it in Sunday's game, according to Bryan Hoch of mlb.com.
Insight: He continued to play and isn't expected to miss time. Catcher's fingers are always getting nicked and its just part of the job. McCann was 4-for-11 with a pair of homers in the series with Boston.
Description: Yankees catcher Francisco Cervelli suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday's game and had to exit.
Insight: Cervelli started at first base with Mark Teixeira on the DL and both Derek Jeter (quad) and Brian Roberts (back) not available. His injury forced Carlos Beltran to make his first appearance at first base.
Description: Cincinnati catcher Devin Mesoraco has gone 7-for-14 with three doubles, two homers and six RBI since he returned from an oblique strain.
Insight: Mesoraco hit .225 with 16 homers, 62 RBI and a .641 OPS over 589 MLB plate appearances prior to this season, but he's a former first-round pick. We saw former first-round catcher Jason Castro bloom last season for the Astros, and now it may be Mesoraco's turn.
Description: Arizona catcher Miguel Montero will get a day off Sunday.
Insight: Tuffy Gosewisch is catching Trevor Cahill. Montero is hitting .234 with one homer and five RBI after a down year in 2013 (.230, 11 HR, 42 RBI). He hit .283 with an .817 OPS and an average of 14 homers per season from 2009-12.

Insight: It looks like a wise decision as Lucroy (.357, 1 HR, 2 RBI) has just one hit in 12 career at bats versus Pirates right-hander Charlie Morton. Today the Brew Crew will go for its third sweep in a row. Milwaukee's 9-2 record through 11 games leads all of Major League Baseball.
Description: A left wrist strain kept Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario out of the lineup on Friday, but he's back behind the plate for Saturday afternoon.
Insight: Rosario suffered the injury while sliding on Tuesday. He's off to a .233 start with zero homers. he's averaged 24.5 homers over the past two seasons and if healthy should continue at that pace.
Description: Giants catcher Buster Posey will start at first base on Saturday afternoon with Brandon Belt getting a day of rest.
Insight: Posey was involved in a collision with Paul Goldschmidt on Thursday and might be sore from the incident so has not caught the last two games He's batting .351 with three homers and seven RBI in his first 37 at-bats.

Description: Marlins catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia should be avoided on Friday in the series opener with Philadelphia.
Insight: Saltalamacchia is 1-for-10 over his career, a single, with seven strikeouts. He's off to a solid start, batting .276 with a homer and four RBI, but having played in hitter-friendly parks in Texas and Boston we don't think he's going to like Miami all that much.
Description: Houston catcher Jason Castro blasted a solo homer Thursday at Toronto.
Insight: The former first-round pick broke out with 18 homers in 435 at-bats last season, though he needed a .351 BABIP to hit .276 due to a 26.5% strikeout rate. He's batting just .179 so far but has two homers.
Description: San Diego catcher Yasmani Grandal had four hits in five at-bats Tuesday.
Insight: Grandal is 7-for-14 with a double, an RBI and five walks so far. The catcher got off to a great start as a rookie in 2012 but was suspended 50 games for testosterone use and then tore his ACL and MCL last season.
Description: Boston catcher A.J. Pierzynski has put together back-to-back three-hit games.
Insight: The Red Sox as a whole have had a great series offensively (.389 AVG, 11 RBI), yet it's tied 1-1 heading into Wednesday night's rubber match. Pierzynski (.333, 0 HR, 2 RBI) had just two hits all season prior to this series.

Insight: Wieters had two more hits on Monday to push his batting average up to .391. Now he faces the pitcher who he has hit the most homers off of over his career and the wind blowing out to center. Make him a must start.

Insight: Mauer was hitless over his first two games, but the career .322 hitter has hit safely in the last two games and has a favorable matchup. There will be a strong wind blowing in at Progressive Field, however, so its a mild recommendation.
Description: Chicago catcher Tyler Flowers stayed hot with three hits Friday against Kansas City.
Insight: Norichika Aoki's fielding error in the eighth inning broke up a string of seven straight hits for Flowers. He's hitting .571 this season but don't expect it to last. Flowers is just a .210 career hitter in 196 major league appearances.
Description: Arizona catcher Miguel Montero will get the afternoon off, just like his oppostite number, Buster Posey.
Insight: Normal day game after a night game stuff. He's been batting fifth in the Diamondbacks lineup with powerful Mark Trumbo behind him which should help him to approach his career RBI numbers this season.
Description: Kansas City catcher Salvador Perez is hitless in nine at-bats against Detroit starter Anibal Sanchez.
Insight: Perez has gotten out of the gate quickly, batting .714 (5-for-7) through the first two games. He's a career .304 hitter and has the talent to hit 20 homers, but this is an unfavorable matchup.
Description: According to the Washington Post, Nationals manager Matt Williams confirmed Wednesday that catcher Wilson Ramos underwent surgery to remove the hamate bone from his left hand and will miss 4-5 weeks.
Insight: Players who have to undergo the surgery often experience a drop in power after returning to the lineup, so fantasy owners should start looking for a long-term replacement at catcher. Ramos played just 103 games over the past two seasons due to a torn ACL and a hamstring strain, and he hit 16 homers with 59 RBI in just 78 games last year.
Description: Washington backup catcher Jose Lobaton will be expected carry the load with starter Wilson Ramos sidelined for a month or more.
