Description: Diamondbacks center fielder A.J. Pollock was 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored in the, 7-3, victory over the Rockies on Saturday.
Insight: Pollock had a two-run double in the fourth, which put Arizona ahead for good. Pollock has been stellar this season with a .304 average, 10 home runs, 38 RBI, 53 runs and 18 stolen bases in 312 at-bats this year.
Description: Arizona starter Patrick Corbin is expected to make his season debut on July 7 or July 8, according to beat writer Jack Magruder.
Insight: Corbin had Tommy John surgery last March. He produced a 14-8 season in 2013 with a 3.41 ERA and 1.166 WHIP which are certainly fantasy-worthy numbers. He's made four minor league starts and has been reportedly throwing in the mid-90s. If true, he could be a back end of the rotation fantasy option for the second half of the season.
Description: Arizona outfielder Ender Inciarte (hamstring) is expected to return from the disabled list next week.
Insight: in case you haven't been paying attention to the late night games, Inciarte was having a very good year, batting .287 with 39 runs scored and nine steals in 63 games. That's a 100 runs scored pace.
Description: Diamondbacks center fielder A.J. Pollock was 3-for-5 with a solo home run in the, 10-5, loss to the Rockies on Tuesday.
Insight: Pollock's homer came in the fifth to give the Diamondbacks a, 4-2, lead, but Colorado scored eight of the last nine runs in the game. Pollock is hitting .310 with nine home runs and 34 RBI in 268 at-bats this year.
Description: Arizona right-hander Jeremy Hellickson put together a solid outing on Sunday, getting his fifth win by going six innings and yielding just two runs on six hits.
Insight: He didn't walk anyone and struck out seven batters. Hellickson has given up exactly two earned runs in four of his last five starts to lower his ERA to 4.94. It was as high as 5.92 in mid-May after a rough start to the season.
Description: Diamondbacks shortstop Nick Ahmed was 2-for-3 and had the only RBI for Arizona in the, 7-1, loss to the Angels on Thursday.
Insight: Ahmed drove in a run on a double in the fifth. At that point, it was only, 2-1, Los Angeles, but the Angels scored the final five runs of the game. Ahmed is batting .225 with three home runs and 13 RBI in 178 at-bats this year.
Description: Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt hit a three-run homer in the, 7-3, victory over the Angels on Monday.
Insight: Goldschmidt also had a double, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run in the game. He has 18 home runs and 15 doubles this season. Goldschmidt is also slashing .366/.484/.678 with 53 RBI as well.
Description: Diamondbacks starter Rubby De La Rosa threw eight shutout frames versus the Giants on Sunday.
Insight: De La Rosa allowed eight hits in eight innings, but not one base runner was able to cross the plate. De La Rosa also struck out six and walked two. He, however, still has a 5.27 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with a 5-3 record this year.
Description: Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt went 2-for-3 with two walks and a run scored in the, 4-0, victory over the Giants on Sunday.
Insight: Goldschmidt had two hits in each game of the weekend series versus the Giants. In the last four games, the first baseman has 10 hits. Goldschmidt is now leading the National League in hitting at .359 and is third in RBI, 50, and fourth in home runs, 17.
Description: Diamondbacks relief pitcher Brad Ziegler converted his sixth save of th season, and third this week, in the, 2-1, victory over the Mets on Saturday.
Insight: Ziegler has received the bulk of the save chances the last month despite the fact manager Chip Hale said he would play the matchups in the ninth inning. Ziegler is 6-for-7 in save opportunities with a 1.73 ERA and 0.96 WHIP.
Description: Diamondbacks center fielder A.J. Pollock went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a run in the, 7-6, victory over the Braves.
Insight: Pollock hit the game-winning two-run homer in the seventh as the Diamondbacks held on to the one-run lead. He also had a ground out RBI. Pollock is hitting .314 with six home runs and 22 RBI in 194 at-bats this season.
Description: Diamondbacks outfielder David Peralta left Sunday's game after being hit by a pitch on his left hand and should be considered questionable for Tuesday's game against Atlanta.
Insight: He was attempting to bunt, and caught the worst of the pitch. X-rays came back negative. Peralta has been surprisingly solid this season, batting .258 with five homers, 24 RBI and an .812 OPS.
Description: Diamondbacks center fielder A.J. Pollock hit 3-for-7 with an RBI, run and two walks in the 17-inning loss in the Brewers on Sunday.
Insight: Pollock had two singles and a triple. He also stole a base. Pollock has been a tremendous surprise for fantasy owners this year, hitting .314 with five home runs, 19 RBI and 34 runs in 185 at-bats this season.
Description: Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt became the first player ever to have three hits and three intentional walks in Sunday's game against the Brewers.
Insight: In the long extra-inning marathon, Goldschmidt came up with first base open several times, and Milwaukee elected to walk him. He was 3-for-4 with an RBI, run and four walks. In the last three games, Goldschmidt has gone 9-for-14 with three home runs, five RBI and five runs.
Description: Diamondbacks catcher Tuffy Gosewisch left Wednesday's game versus the Cardinals with a jammed left knee and is questionable for Friday's game against Milwaukee.
Insight: Gosewisch has shown little fantasy value this season, batting just .211 with one home run and 13 RBI. Jordan Pacheco could get some more work or the team could call up recently-signed Jarrod Saltalamacchia.
Description: Diamondbacks outfielder Mark Trumbo was 1-for-2 with two walks and a home run in the, 4-3, loss to the Cardinals on Wednesday.
Insight: Trumbo hit his home run in the fourth to score the first Arizona run of the night. The Diamondbacks actually took the lead, 3-2, but the Cardinals scored two runs in the ninth to win. Trumbo is hitting .265 with eight home runs and 22 RBI in 151 at-bats this season.
Description: Diamondbacks outfielder David Peralta hit a three-run double in the fifth against the Cubs on Saturday.
Insight: Peralta's double gave the Diamondbacks a, 5-4, lead. Tuffy Gosewisch's home run in the sixth made it, 6-4, Diamondbacks, but the Cubs came back to win in the ninth. Peralta hit .257 with four home runs and 21 RBI in 109 at-bats this season.
Description: Diamondbacks outfielder Mark Trumbo is not in Wednesday's starting lineup.
Insight: Trumbo has a hit in four straight games, but he will get the day off. In his last day off, Trumbo did pinch hit, so it is still possible he gets an at-bat. Trumbo is hitting .280 with six home runs and 19 RBI in 125 at-bats this season.
Description: Diamondbacks starter Rubby De La Rosa threw nine innings and allowed two runs on six hits, but received a no-decision versus the Marlins.
Insight: De La Rosa couldn't hold the, 2-0, lead the Diamondbacks gave him, so with it tied, 2-2, the game went into extra innings. Arizona eventual won in the 13th. De La Rosa is 4-2 with a 4.08 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 47 strikeouts in 53 innings this season.
Description: Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt was 1-for-4 with two RBI in the loss to the Phillies on Friday.
Insight: Goldschmidt doubled in the seven to score two runs. That game Arizona a, 3-1, lead, but Philadelphia reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the inning, 4-3. Goldschmidt is hitting .344/.446/.648 with nine home runs and 30 RBI in 125 at-bats.
Description: Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt could have a huge day on Sunday versus Padres starter Andrew Cashner.
Insight: Goldschmidt is 5-for-11 with a home run in his career against Cashner, so the numbers favor another nice day for the first baseman. Not that owners needed the reminder, but start Goldschmidt on Sunday.

Insight: Goldschmidt had a double and two singles, but obviously did score or drive in a run since his team didn't score in 13 innings on Sunday. Goldschmidt is hitting .356 with six home runs and 22 RBI this season.
Description: Diamondbacks starter Chase Anderson pitched seven solid innings versus the Rangers on Tuesday, but the Arizona bullpen blew up in the, 7-1, loss.
Insight: Anderson allowed one run on three hits with three strikeouts and no walks. In the final two innings, the Arizona bullpen allowed six runs, five of which were earned. Anderson still doesn't have a decision this season and has posted a 3.00 ERA in three starts.
Description: Diamondbacks rooke pitcher Archie Bradley outdueled Clayton Kershaw, allowing just one hit in six innings versus the Dodgers.
Insight: Bradley was superb in his first start, but he did walk four batters, so his control could improve. He also struck out six. Bradley is a pitch worth watching early this season and is worth stashing away in deep leagues.
Description: Diamondbacks center fielder A.J. Pollock reached base four times versus Clayton Kershaw on Saturday.
Insight: Pollack had three singles and a walk against the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner. He also had two runs and a RBI. Pollock is hitting .313 and has a healthy .421 on-base percentage in the first five games.
Description: Diamondbacks 2B/3B Aaron Hill is a career .467 hitter (14-for-30) against Giants starter Ryan Vogelsong,
Insight: Hill lost out on the everyday second base job but he's in a favorable situation Tuesday against Vogelsong, so if you see his name somewhere in the starting lineup he could be worth a flier. He had two hits in the opener playing at third base for Jake Lamb.
Description: Diamondbacks pitching prospect Archie Bradley has apparently won a spot in the rotation after Arizona traded Trevor Cahill on Thursday.
Insight: The right-hander dealt with an elbow injury earlier last season, but is a highly-thought of prospect, who is averaged more than a strikeout per inning in the minors. he could be worthy of a late-round flier.
Description: Diamondbacks starter Trevor Cahill has been traded to the Atlanta Braves.
Insight: Cahill is coming off an ugly 3-12 season with a 5.61 ERA and 1.608 WHIP so he'll have to regain his old form if he is to break into the Braves starting rotation. The move opens up a spot in the Arizona rotation for Archie Bradley.
Description: Diamondbacks starter Trevor Cahill appears to be headed for a spot on the Arizona starting rotation, according to an Arizona Republic report.
Insight: Cahill will join Josh Collmenter, Jeremy Hellickson and Chase Anderson with the fifth spot still up for grabs. Cahill was not very good last season (3-12, 561 ERA), but has changed his motion and hopes to find some of the magic from earlier in his career. Fantasy owners should avoid him unless you see a big change in his numbers.

Insight: Trumbo was a disappointment in his first season with Arizona, playing just 88 games due to injury. Although he hit just 14 HRs last season he averaged 31.6 HRs over the three previous seasons. He will look to rebound in 2015 and could be overlooked by fantasy owners.
Description: Relief pitcher J.J. Putz has officially retired from baseball according to USA Today.
Insight: The Diamondbacks released Putz in June, but he did not officially retire until this week. He will begin a new career, joining the Arizona front office. Putz finished with a 3.08 ERA and one All-Star appearance.
Description: Arizona starter Wade Miley posts no-decision in final outing of 2014.
Insight: He went five innings, allowing two runs on six hits and three walks, with six strikeouts. Miley finishes the year at 8-12 with a 4.34 ERA and 1.40 WHIP. Randall Delgado received the win versus St. Louis, with Addison Reed locking down his 32nd save.
Description: Diamondbacks starter Trevor Cahill struggles continued on Saturday against the Rockies.
Insight: He was lit up for five earned runs and 10 hits, including 2 homeruns. Cahill did manage eight strikeouts over five innings, but still fell to 3-12 with a 5.55. Cahill needs the 2014 season to end.
Description: Arizona outfielder Mark Trumbo is dealing with a back issue, but if he's in Friday's starting lineup he'll be a solid fantasy option.
Insight: Trumbo is 4-for-9 with three homers and six RBI against Colorado starter Jordan Lyles. It's been a completely forgettable season for Trumo who spent much of the time on the disabled list and is batting .235 with nine home runs and 49 RBI.
Description: Arizona outfielder Mark Trumbo went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs as the Diamondbacks defeated the Padres, 10-4, on Saturday.
Insight: Trumbo helped Arizona jump out to an early 6-0 lead with a two RBI-single and then scored on a wild pitch in the first and a RBI-ground out in the second. Trumbo also scored in the seventh. He is batting .234 with eight home runs and 43 RBI this year.
Description: Diamondbacks starter Chase Anderson gave up two runs on four hits in six innings on Saturday and ended with a no-decision against the Dodgers.
Insight: Anderson also struck out six batters and walked none. Anderson has pitched very well in his rookie season, posting a 8-6 record with a 3.71 ERA with 95 strikeouts in 104 1/3 innings. He is someone to keep an eye on going forward, especially into next year's draft.
Description: Diamondbacks starter Trevor Cahill has allowed nine earned runs, 11 hits and nine walks in his last 7 1/3 innings.
Insight: Cahill threw five straight quality starts from July 29 to Aug. 20 (2.73 ERA), but he's been terrible the past two starts. He's 3-10 with a 5.06 ERA, a 1.61 WHIP and an 83/46 K/BB in 90 2/3 innings this season.
Description: Diamondbacks second baseman Aaron Hill was 3-for-4 with a double, triple, two RBI and two runs as Arizona defeated Colorado, 6-2.
Insight: Hill hit .167 in the month of August as his batting average dropped as low as .239. He is hitting .244 with 10 home runs and 57 RBI in 464 at-bats this season. If you can, look for better options.
Description: Arizona manager Kirk Gibson told the Arizona Republic that the organization is going to take a cautious approach with starter Patrick Corbin's return. The 25-year-old may not make his first start next season until June.
Insight: The Diamondbacks have five pitchers, including Corbin, that will return from Tommy John surgery next year, so the club is committed to a slow rehabilitation process for its arms. Corbin had Tommy John surgery on March 25.
Description: Diamondbacks starter Josh Collmenter took a shutout into the ninth inning Friday night against San Diego and allowed one unearned run on four hits in 8 1/3 innings to improve to 9-7.
Insight: Collmenter struck out eight and didn't walk a batter. He had gone 0-2 with an 8.50 ERA and a 1.67 WHIP in his previous four starts and has a 4.05 ERA, a 1.25 WHIP and 97 Ks on the year. He's an NL-only option at best.
Description: Arizona catcher Miguel Montero hit his 13th homer of the season Friday against San Diego.
Insight: Montero has bounced back after hitting .230 with 11 homers and a .662 OPS in 475 plate appearances last year, but he hasn't returned to his 2011-12 level of production (averaged 140 games, .284, 16 HR, 87 RBI, .825 OPS per season). He's hitting .260 with a .755 OPS in 2014.
Description: Arizona shortstop Chris Owings (shoulder injury) is expected to being a rehab assignment Sunday, according to an Arizona Republic report.
Insight: The shortstop batted .317 with 11 extra-base hits (3 HR), 12 RBI, nine runs and one steal in June and .277 with a .771 OPS for the season. Didi Gregorius has been struggling of late, batting just .132 over the past 11 games.
Description: Diamondbacks starter Vidal Nuno allowed two runs on five hits and struck out seven in seven innings Monday at Washington.
Insight: The move to the NL has been good for Nuno even though he hasn't won a game in eight starts with Arizona. He's recorded a 3.72 ERA, a 1.11 WHIP and 38 Ks in 46 innings since the Yankees traded him to the D-Backs for Brandon McCarthy.
Description: Diamondbacks second baseman Aaron Hill went 1-for-4 with his 10th homer of the season and two RBI Friday night.
Insight: Hill has batted .189 in August and .247 on the season. He looks nothing like the player he was in 2012, when he had a .302 average, 26 homers, 85 RBI, 93 runs and an .882 OPS, or even last year (.291, 11 HR in 87 games).
Description: Diamondbacks starter Trevor Cahill has thrown four straight quality starts.
Insight: Cahill held the Marlins to two runs on six hits and had a 3/3 K/BB in 6 2/3 innings Friday night to win his third game of the year. He hasn't given up more than three earned runs in any of his six starts since he returned from the minors.
Description: Diamondbacks starter Chase Anderson has yielded two runs or less in each of his last five starts heading into Thursday's matchup with Miami.
Insight: Anderson is one of the few Arizona pitchers with good numbers this season having gone 7-4 with a 3.06 ERA and 1.26 WHIP. In his last five starts he's posted a 1.80 ERA and 1.120 WHIP, including 30 Ks in 31 IP.
Description: Diamondbacks center fielder A.J. Pollock (broken hand) started a rehab assignment last week after missing two months of action.
Insight: Pollock fractured his right hand when he was hit by a pitch on May 31 and underwent surgery. He was on a tear before the injury, hitting .359 with 13 doubles, four triples, six homers, 14 RBI, 24 runs, eight steals and a 1.061 OPS in his last 39 games. He'll likely need another week before he's ready to return to the lineup.
Description: Arizona shortstop Chris Owings (shoulder injury) was in the batting cage over the weekend and fely fine afterwards.
Insight: The shortstop batted .317 with 11 extra-base hits (3 HR), 12 RBI, nine runs and one steal in June and .277 with a .771 OPS for the season. He's still about two weeks away from returning as long as there are no setbacks. Didi Gregorius filled in nicely in July, but his production has taken a big dip in August (.227, .573 OPS).
Description: Arizona starter Wade Miley has a career-high 8.29 K/9 this season, but he's allowed 1.27 HR/9.
Insight: Eleven of Miley's 22 home runs allowed this season have come with at least one man on base and he's given up four three-run shots. As a result, he has a 69.8 percent strand rate and a 4.61 ERA while his FIP is 4.18 and his xFIP is 3.41.
Description: Diamondbacks third baseman Eric Chavez has retired, according to cbssports.com.
Insight: Chavez won six straight Gold Gloves and hit 25 or more home runs six times in his first eight seasons, but injuries limited him to 154 games from 2007-10 and he became a part-time player for the Yankes and Diamondbacks after that. He'll finish with a .268 career average, 260 home runs and an .818 OPS.
Description: Arizona starter Wade Miley won his seventh game of the season Wednesday at Cincinnati after throwing 6 2/3 scoreless innings.
Insight: Miley gave up seven hits, walked four and struck out just one, but he worked out of jams in the first, third, fourth and sixth innings. The 27-year-old lefty has found a way to keep the ball in the park lately, giving up just one homer in his last 44 1/3 innings (0.20 HR/9) after serving up 17 in his first 101 1/3 (1.51 HR/9).
Description: Arizona shortstop Chris Owings (shoulder injury) was placed on the 15-day disabled list a month ago and there is still no timetable for his return.
Insight: The shortstop batted .317 with 11 extra-base hits (3 HR), 12 RBI, nine runs and one steal in June and .277 with a .771 OPS for the season. Didi Gregorius has started 15 games in July and is hitting .264 for the month with a single home run and six RBI.

Description: Arizona catcher Miguel Montero is 6-for-12 with a home run versus Phillies starter Kyle Kendrick.
Insight: Montero hasn't homered since June 28, but he's still knocking in runs and has 58 RBI for the season. If the top of the order can get on base Friday, Montero should be able to add to his total.
Description: Arizona third baseman Martin Prado owns a .419 career average (13-for-31) with one homer and zero strikeouts against Detroit starter Anibal Sanchez.
Insight: The two were frequent opponents when both played in the NL East. With a .272 average, four homers, 36 RBI, 40 runs and two steals in 375 at-bats, Prado hasn't been a good fantasy option this season, but he's a decent option Wednesday.
Description: Diamondbacks pitching prospect Archie Bradley struck out 10, walked one and allowed two runs on three hits over seven innings for Double-A Mobile Saturday night.
Insight: It was Bradley's most dominant effort of the year. The right-hander dealt with an elbow injury earlier this season, but he's allowed five runs on 17 hits in 25 1/3 innings since he returned to the Double-A rotation. He could be ready to jump back to Triple-A, where he had a 5.18 ERA in 24 1/3 innings before the injury.
Description: Diamondbacks pitching prospect Archie Bradley has allowed just three runs on 14 hits in 18 1/3 innings since he returned from an elbow strain, but he's also recorded a 9/13 K/BB in that span.
Insight: Bradley was ranked as one of the top-10 prospects in baseball by several reputable publications prior to this season. Overall he's posted a 3.66 ERA and a 38/26 K/BB in 46 2/3 innings and will need to show improvement with his control before the Diamondbacks call him up. It could be another few weeks or more before we see him in the big leagues.

Insight: Trumbo proved he was ready by hitting five homers during seven rehab games, so Arizona activated him earlier than expected. He has been sidelined since April 22 due to a stress fracture in his foot. Trumbo was hitting .210 with seven homers and 19 RBI before he got hurt.
Description: Arizona first baseman Paul Goldschmidt loves facing Giants starter Tim Lincecum and so do his fantasy owners.
Insight: He's a career .577 hitter with seven homers and 17 RBI in just 26 at-bats. Goldy is having another fine season batting .312 with 16 HR, 61 RBI and a league-leading 193 total bases. He's always a must start when facing Lincecum.
Description: Vidal Nuno allowed just three hits and struck out seven over seven shutout innings Tusday against Miami in his Diamondbacks debut.
Insight: The Yankees dealt him to Arizona for Brandon McCarthy this past weekend. The left-hander should do better in the NL, but Chase Field isn't exactly a good place for a soft-tossing fly-ball pitcher like Nuno.
Description: Diamondbacks closer Addison Reed allowed a two-run homer to Marcell Ozuna in the ninth inning to blow his fifth save of the season Tuesday against the Marlins.
Insight: Reed has given up a whopping nine homers in 36 2/3 innings this season and has a 4.42 ERA. Manager Kirk Gibson has given him two votes of confidence and said earlier this month that the team isn't considering a change, but the D-Backs can't stick with him much longer. Brad Ziegler is likely next in line for saves.
