Wilin Rosario, C9/18/2014 11:38:00 PM
Description: Colorado catcher Wilin Rosario hit a two-run game-winning home run in the bottom of the ninth inning Thursday.
Insight: Rosario's home run was No. 12. That's a far cry from the 28 he blasted in 2012 and the 21 he hit last season. His numbers are down across the board, including "games played" - due to injuries.
Justin Morneau, 1B9/17/2014 12:11:00 AM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau went 2-for-4 with a RBI and two runs to help the Rockies beat the Dodgers, 10-4, on Tuesday.
Insight: Pirates third baseman Josh Harrison went 1-for-4, so Morneau crept a little closer to the batting title lead in the National League. One batting point separates the two hitters. Morneau is batting .316 with 15 home runs and 73 RBI this year.
Justin Morneau, 1B9/15/2014 6:23:00 PM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau (intercostal) is in the lineup for Monday's game against the LA Dodgers and he's got a favorable matchup.
Insight: Morneau is batting .333 (12-for-36) with four homers and 12 RBI against Dodgers right-hander Roberto Hernandez. Morneau has been a solid fantasy option all season with a .315 batting average, 15 HR and 72 RBI. He'll never be the MVP slugger he was back in Minnesota, but he still holds fantasy value.
Christian Bergman, SPHot9/15/2014 1:36:00 PM
Description: Rockies' righty Christian Bergman has proven that he can pitch in the majors.
Insight: He got his first taste of the majors in June, but failed to impress (0-2, 7.20 ERA in 3 GS). However, after being called back up in August, Bergman has impressed. He is 1-1 with a 2.60 ERA over his past three starts, and although he is going up against the Dodgers tonight, Bergman has a great shot at earning a win, as he takes on the unreliable Roberto Hernandez.
Justin Morneau, 1B9/15/2014 9:55:00 AM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau (intercostal) is questionable for Monday's game against the LA Dodgers, but if he's in the lineup he's got a favorable matchup.
Justin Morneau, 1B9/14/2014 10:54:00 AM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau (intercostal) is expected to return to the lineup soon according to the Denver Post.
Insight: Not exactly what owners wanted to hear. What does soon actually mean? The Denver Post did not actually specify, which is really frustrating. But with the National League batting title on the line, Morneau has a reason to get back into the lineup as soon as possible. Until he is ready, Ben Paulsen will be playing first base for the Rockies.
Justin Morneau, 1B9/8/2014 6:36:00 PM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau is not in Monday's lineup against the Mets.
Insight: It's probably just a routine night off. Michael Cuddyer will make the start at first base. Morneau is likely being eased back into action slowly after his hamstring strain.
Justin Morneau, 1B9/7/2014 9:48:00 AM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau went 4-for-6, belting his 15th home run of the season, on Saturday against the Padres.
Insight: The big day has put Morneau right back up with the National League leaders in average. He is currently one point behind Josh Harrison at .314 for the batting title. Morneau also has 72 RBI, 50 runs and a .845 OPS to go along with the .314 average and 15 homers. With two more years remaining on his Colorado contract, we expect Morneau to continue these kind of numbers, hitting in Coors Field the next two seasons.
Justin Morneau, 1B9/3/2014 8:13:00 PM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau knocked in his 70th run of the season and with two hits raised his average to .312.
Insight: Morneau is having a solid bounce back season, but he could end up playing elsewhere in 2015, as the Rockies did put him on revocable waivers, but couldn't work out a deal with Milwaukee. Although Milwaukee is a good place to hit, fantasy owners probably would like him to stay in Colorado.
Corey Dickerson, LFHot9/3/2014 8:06:00 PM
Description: Rockies left fielder Corey Dickerson went deep twice against Ryan Vogelson and the San Francisco Giants Wednesday.
Insight: Dickerson is one of this year's best surprises, batting .311 with 22 homers and 68 RBI. His fantasy owners can thank injuries to Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Cuddyer for opening up playing time in the outfield.
Ben Paulsen, 1BHot9/3/2014 12:14:00 PM
Description: Colorado 1B/OF Ben Paulsen will start in right field Wednesday afternoon.
Insight: Paulsen is off to a great beginning, batting .417 with a 1.142 OPS over 14 games since being called up at the end up July.
Charlie Blackmon, CFHot9/1/2014 10:33:00 PM
Description: Colorado center fielder Charlie Blackmon was hitless in his first five at-bats Monday before hitting a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Insight: Blackmon homered in each of the previous two games and has driven in six runs in his last five. He's gone 22-for-67 (.328) with three doubles, three homers, 10 RBI, 12 runs and two steals in his last 17 games.
Charlie Blackmon, CFHot8/31/2014 10:35:00 PM
Description: Colorado center fielder Charlie Blackmon went 2-for-4 with a solo home run on Sunday against the Diamondbacks.
Insight: Blackmon has a home run in each of his last two games. He also has four straight games with an RBI. It may be mostly due to the park he hits in, but Blackmon is having a good season, hitting .289 with 17 home runs and 64 RBI.
Wilin Rosario, C8/27/2014 5:56:00 PM
Description: Colorado catcher Wilin Rosario (wrist) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Aug. 23.
Insight: Rosario missed the last four games due to left wrist soreness. Michael McKenry, who has hit .319 with five homers in 116 at-bats this season, will become the full-time starter behind the plate.
Josh Rutledge, 2B8/26/2014 11:13:00 AM
Description: Rockies shortstop Josh Rutledge is 8-for-17 (.471) with three extra-base hits against Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner.
Insight: Rutledge hasn't exactly been tearing the cover off the ball, batting .242 over the past two weeks, but he likes facing Bumgarner and the wind is blowing out to dead center today.
Wilin Rosario, C8/25/2014 7:20:00 PM
Description: Colorado catcher Wilin Rosario (wrist) is out of the lineup Monday.
Insight: Rosario was hoping to play after sitting out the past two games, but Michael McKenry is behind the plate again for Colorado.
Wilin Rosario, C8/24/2014 8:59:00 PM
Description: Colorado catcher Wilin Rosario has missed the last two games with left wrist soreness, but he hopes to return Monday. SOURCE: Denver Post
Insight: Rosario's batting practice session on Monday will determine if he can play. The catcher's .288 average in August is his highest for any month this season.
Nolan Arenado, 3BHot8/24/2014 8:08:00 PM
Description: Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado's onslaught continued Sunday.
Insight: Arenado went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI. The 23-year-old has hit .414 with six doubles, a triple, five homers, 12 RBI and eight walks over his last 18 games.
Charlie Blackmon, CFHot8/24/2014 8:01:00 PM
Description: Colorado center fielder Charlie Blackmon has gone 15-for-37 (.405) with three doubles, a homer, four RBI, nine runs and two steals over his last nine games.
Insight: The confines of Coors Field have once again helped Blackmon put a stop to his slump. Eight of the nine games during his hot streak came at home. He went 4-for-45 (.089) with one RBI in 11 games from July 31 to Aug. 12, with eight of the 11 coming on the road.
Wilin Rosario, C8/24/2014 2:32:00 PM
Description: Colorado catcher Wilin Rosario was out of the lineup Saturday against the Reds and will miss Sunday as well.
Insight: Rosario has had a disappointing season but he's hit .317 with three doubles, two homers and five RBI in August. Michael McKenry will make another start and with a .340 batting average and .940 OPS has fantasy value.
Matt McBride, RF8/24/2014 2:28:00 PM
Description: With Justin Morneau sitting Sunday and Michael Cuddyer back on the disabled list, Matt McBride gets a start at first base Sunday.
Insight: Mcbride only has five at-bats this season, but he did blast a grand slam Wednesday against the Royals' Danny Duffy. He batted .305 at Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Michael Cuddyer, RF8/24/2014 2:22:00 PM
Description: Rockies right fielder Michael Cuddyer (hamstring) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list ... again.
Insight: Cuddyer just can't stay healthy. He already missed more than two months with a fractured shoulder before returning on Aug. 17. When actually on the field he's batting .331 with a .926 OPS. It's just he's only played 34 of his team's 127 games.
Justin Morneau, 1B8/24/2014 2:18:00 PM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau is not in Sunday's starting lineup.
Insight: It appears to be a routine day off after he went 0-for-6 Saturday night. He's batting .314 with 14 HR and 67 RBI.
Corey Dickerson, LFHot8/23/2014 10:12:00 AM
Description: Rockies left fielder Corey Dickerson went 1-for-5 with a homer and two RBI Friday against Miami.
Insight: Dickerson's average dropped from .332 to .309 when he went 4-for-30 (.133) from July 27 to Aug. 5, but he's come back with a 21-for-61 (.344) stretch during which he's hit five doubles, a triple and five homers and driven in 19 runs.
Justin Morneau, 1B8/23/2014 10:10:00 AM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau went 2-for-4 with a homer, a walk and two RBI Friday against Miami.
Insight: Due to teammate Troy Tulowitzki's season-ending hip injury, Morneau is now in the lead for the NL batting title with a .319 average. If he wins, it will give Colorado back-to-back batting champions (Michael Cuddyer won it last year).
Nolan Arenado, 3BHot8/23/2014 10:06:00 AM
Description: Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado had his second four-hit game in the past five games Friday night.
Insight: Arenado has batted .358 with 10 doubles, a triple, seven homers, 19 RBI, 22 runs, 14 walks and a 1.104 OPS in his last 28 games. The 23-year-old is now hitting .306 with 30 doubles, two triples, 13 homers, 50 RBI, 52 runs and an .862 OPS in 350 at-bats this season and is turning into one of the league's brightest young stars.
Michael Cuddyer, RF8/22/2014 5:50:00 PM
Description: Rockies right fielder Michael Cuddyer (hamstring) is not expected to return to the lineup until Sunday, according to Nick Groke of the Denver Post.
Insight: Cuddyer was hoping to return Friday, but the team will give him a few more days. "I'm NOT going on the DL. You can put that in bold letters," he said. Cuddyer missed more than two months with a fractured shoulder before returning on Aug. 17. He went 5-for-10, hit for the cycle and scored two runs during a doubleheader on that day but hasn't played since due to his hamstring injury.
Michael Cuddyer, RF8/20/2014 5:05:00 PM
Description: Rockies right fielder Michael Cuddyer (hamstring) says he should be able to start Friday, according to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post.

Michael Cuddyer, RF8/19/2014 11:25:00 AM
Description: Rockies right fielder Michael Cuddyer is hitting a career 7-for-17 (.412) against Royals pitcher James Shields.
Insight: Cuddyer hit for the cycle on Sunday in his first big league action since suffering a shoulder injury on June 5. There looks to be a good chance he will kepp it up tonight.
Justin Morneau, 1B8/18/2014 1:53:00 PM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau missed both games of Colorado's double header against Cincinnati on Sunday. The Rockies also scratched Morneau from Saturday's lineup due to a sore neck.
Insight: The first baseman went on the 15-day disabled list in July with a neck strain. Morneau could miss more time as the neck injury continues to linger. The 33-year-old is having a bounce back season, hitting .323 with 13 home runs and 65 RBI.
Michael Cuddyer, RF8/18/2014 12:13:00 AM
Description: It didn't take long for Rockies right fielder Michael Cuddyer is find his swing.
Insight: Cuddyer had been out since June 6 due to a fractured shoulder, but hit for the cycle in Sunday's nightcap with a double in the eighth inning. He was 1-for-5 in the first game. He's not flashy, he's just a great hitter.
Corey Dickerson, LFHot8/17/2014 8:47:00 PM
Description: Rockies left fielder Corey Dickerson extended his hitting streak to 11 games with two knocks including a home run.
Insight: Dickerson has gone 16-for-35 during the streak to raise his batting average to .325. Batting third in the Rockies order, he's a must start in Colorado games where he's batting .370.

Description: Rockies outfielder Drew Stubbs capped a huge comeback with a game-winning three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Justin Morneau, 1B8/17/2014 11:45:00 AM

Insight: Morneau has been solid this season, batting .323 with 13 HR and 65 RBI. The return of Michael Cuddyer to the lineup should help both Morneau and Nolan Arenado.

Insight: Rosario has had a disappointing season but he's hit .317 with three doubles, two homers and five RBI in August. Michael McKenry is catching Jordan Lyles Saturday night.
Michael Cuddyer, RF8/16/2014 5:07:00 PM
Description: Rockies right fielder Michael Cuddyer has been activated from the 60-day disabled list.
Insight: Cuddyer has been out since June 6 due to a fractured shoulder. His return will force Charlie Blackmon, Corey Dickerson and Drew Stubbs to compete for playing time at the other two outfield spots.
Nolan Arenado, 3BHot8/16/2014 1:48:00 PM
Description: Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado has batted .302 with eight doubles, six homers, 16 RBI, 17 runs and 10 walks in his last 23 games.

Justin Morneau, 1BHot8/16/2014 12:27:00 PM

Josh Rutledge, 2BCold8/15/2014 5:55:00 PM
Description: Rockies shortstop Josh Rutledge has gone 5-for-51 (.098) with 17 Ks in his last 14 games.
Insight: That includes a 1-for-27 stretch in his last eight games. He's out of the lineup Friday and shouldn't be in any fantasy lineups until he snaps out of his funk.
Franklin Morales, SP 8/15/2014 5:26:00 PM
Description: Rockies left-hander Franklin Morales has been scratched from Friday's start.
Insight: He's expecting the birth of his child. Morales has a 4.97 ERA and a 1.57 WHIP this season and he's allowed 20 homers in 112 1/3 innings, so nobody was starting him anyway. Matt Belisle and the bullpen will try to piece together nine innings.
Michael Cuddyer, RF8/14/2014 10:18:00 PM
Description: Rockies right fielder Michael Cuddyer (non-displaced fracture of the glenoid socket in his left shoulder) will be activated for Saturday's game, according to the team's website.
Insight: The defending NL batting champion was having a solid season before his injury (.317, 5 HR, 16 RBI in 31 games). Be ready to install him back into lineups.

Insight: Gonzalez was placed on the DL with a sprained right ankle and left knee tendinitis on Aug. 10. CarGo has never played more than 145 games in a season and he's probably done for the rest of 2014.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS8/13/2014 10:33:00 PM
Description: Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki (hip) will undergo season-ending surgery to repair the labrum in his left hip Friday, according to Thomas Harding.

Wilin Rosario, C8/13/2014 6:10:00 PM
Description: Colorado catcher Wilin Rosario isn't in the lineup Wednesday.
Insight: Rosario went 0-for-8 with four Ks the past two games after starting off the month with a few good games. He's hitting .248 with 10 homers, 40 RBI and a .691 OPS this season, a far cry from the numbers he put up the past two years.
Josh Rutledge, 2BCold8/13/2014 12:25:00 PM
Description: Rockies shortstop Josh Rutledge has gone 5-for-42 (.119) with 13 Ks in his last 12 games.
Insight: That includes a 1-for-23 stretch in his last seven games. He has a good matchup Wednesday -- he's 5-for-13 (.385) with a double, a homer and three walks against Padres starter Ian Kennedy -- but fantasy owners might want to look for other options.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS8/11/2014 10:09:00 AM
Description: Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki (hip) will consult more doctors as the team tries to find out why his recovery has been slow.
Insight: Tulowitzki suffered what was called a "left hip flexor strain" on July 19, but could actually be a labrum issue, according to Thomas Harding of mlb.com. Stay tuned, this would be season ending if it requires surgery.
Michael Cuddyer, RF8/11/2014 10:05:00 AM
Description: Rockies right fielder Michael Cuddyer (non-displaced fracture of the glenoid socket in his left shoulder) is tearing it up at Grand Junction going 11-for-19 in five games (.591).
Insight: The defending NL batting champion was having a solid season before his injury (.317, 5 HR, 16 RBI in 31 games). He'll head to Tulsa for a few games and could be back by the end of this week.
Charlie Blackmon, CFCold8/10/2014 8:10:00 PM

Insight: Blackmon had a .304 average and an .816 OPS on July 30, but he's down to .285 and .764. The 28-year-old has batted .332 with a .922 OPS at Coors Field this season, but just .232 with a .584 OPS on the road. Wilin Rosario, C8/10/2014 7:59:00 PM
Description: Colorado catcher Wilin Rosario went 2-for-5 with a homer and two RBI Sunday at Arizona.
Insight: Rosario entered the game with a .500 average against Diamondbacks starter Wade Miley, and he took Miley deep in the sixth inning for his 10th homer of the year. Seven of those home runs have come against left-handers this season.
Brett Anderson, SP8/10/2014 7:26:00 PM
Description: Colorado left-hander Brett Anderson (back) was a bulging disk in his back and is likely out for the season, according to Thomas Harding of mlb.com.

Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez (knee, ankle) is expected to be placed on the disabled list, according to Thomas Harding of mlb.com.
Insight: Gonzalez has been dealing with a sprained right ankle and left knee tendinitis. He's played just 70 games this season and hit .238 with 11 homers, three steals and a .723 OPS, not what fantasy owners were expecting. CarGo has never played more than 145 games in a season.
Wilin Rosario, C8/10/2014 12:16:00 PM
Description: Colorado catcher Wilin Rosario is 8-for-16 (.500) with three doubles and a homer against Diamondbacks lefty Wade Miley.
Insight: Rosario has been a disappointment this season, but he has hit well against lefties (.296, 6 HR, 14 RBI, .934 OPS) and has great numbers against Miley. If he's in Rockies lineup Sunday, he's one of the top catching options.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF8/9/2014 6:50:00 PM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez (sprained right ankle) is not in the lineup Saturday.
Insight: Gonzalez is still dealing with the ankle injury and left Friday's game after three at-bats ... all strikeouts. He may still yet end up on the disabled list.
Wilin Rosario, C8/7/2014 1:38:00 PM
Description: Colorado catcher Wilin Rosario is back in the lineup after getting a routine day off Wednesday night.
Insight: Rosario's numbers (.252, 9 HR, 38 RBI) are well off from last season (.292, 21 HR, 79 RBI), but he's on a modest five-game hitting streak and is batting .301 at home this season.

Brett Anderson, SP8/6/2014 6:48:00 PM
Description: Colorado left-hander Brett Anderson (back) has been placed on the disabled list.
Insight: Anderson left Tuesday's start with a back strain after throwing three scoreless innings of one-hit ball. Injuries have plagued the left-hander his entire career and limited him to 43 1/3 innings this season.

Jordan Lyles, SP8/5/2014 7:38:00 PM
Description: Rockies starter Jordan Lyles (hand) will start Wednesday against the Cubs.
Insight: Lyles fractured his hand in June. He'll return to a 5-1 record, 3.52 ERA and 1.30 WHIP in 69 innings and is no more than a low-end fantasy option due to his low strikeout rate. Franklin Morales will move back to the bullpen to make room for Lyles.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF8/5/2014 6:29:00 PM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez (sprained right ankle) is not in the lineup Tuesday.
Insight: Gonzalez aggravated an ankle injury making a catch Friday night. The team was supposed to make a decision whether or not to place him on the disabled list by Tuesday, but it hasn't made a move yet.
Corey Dickerson, LFCold8/5/2014 6:16:00 PM
Description: Rockies left fielder Corey Dickerson is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Cubs.
Insight: Dickerson has gone 4-for-29 (.138) in his last eight games (seven on the road) and his average has dropped from .332 to .311 in that span. The Rockies will be at home for two more games against the Cubs before going on a six-game road trip, so it could be a while before Dickerson turns his slump around. The 25-year-old has a .356 average and a 1.069 OPS at Coors Field and a .264 average and a .771 OPS on the road this season.

Description: Rockies shortstop Josh Rutledge is out of the lineup again Tuesday due to an illness.
Insight: He was scratched from Monday's lineup and isn't ready to return. Rutledge has done a good job filling in for Troy Tulowitzki since Tulo suffered a hip flexor strain on July 19. Description: Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left hip flexor strain. SOURCE: Patrick Saunders, Denver Post
Insight: The Rockies have been calling Tulowitzki's injury a quad cramp since he suffered it on Saturday while trying to beat out a hit. Injuries have been the main issue for Tulowitzki in his career -- he averaged just 110 games over the previous four seasons. Josh Rutledge will see regular playing time until Tulo returns.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS7/22/2014 5:36:00 PM
Description: Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki (quad) is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Nationals.
Insight: A cramp in Tulowitzki's left quad forced him out of Saturday's game and he will miss his third straight game. Any day without the best hitter in the NL (.340, 21 HR, 52 RBI, 71 runs, 1.035 OPS) is a disaster for fantasy owners, especially for games at Coors Field. Replacement Josh Rutledge has gone 3-for-8 with a homer and two RBI in the past two games.

Description: Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki (quad) is not in the lineup Monday against the Nationals.
Insight: A cramp in Tulowitzki's left quad forced him out of Saturday's game and will miss his second straight game. Any day without the best hitter in the NL (.340, 21 HR, 52 RBI, 71 runs, 1.035 OPS) is a disaster for fantasy owners, especially for games at Coors Field.

Insight: Blackmon rolled his ankle during Saturday's game. He was able to finish the 11-inning contest and his X-rays came back negative. Drew Stubbs would be his likely replacement.
Josh Rutledge, 2B7/20/2014 5:02:00 PM

Troy Tulowitzki, SS7/19/2014 8:38:00 PM
Description: Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki was forced from Saturday's game after pulling up while running out a ground ball.
Insight: Tulowitzki had 21 bombs, 52 RBI and 71 runs to go with a .342 average and a 1.041 OPS heading into the game. Hopefully the injury-prone star won't be out of action for long. Stay tuned for an update.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS7/19/2014 10:30:00 AM
Description: Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki is just 1-for-10 versus Pittsburgh starter Charlie Morton.
Insight: This is certainly an unfavorable matchup which you should probably avoid despite his great season to date. Tulowitzki has 21 bombs, 52 RBI and 71 runs to go with a .342 average and a 1.041 OPS this season. Hopefully his appearance in the Home Run Derby Monday night won't change his swing.

Description: Rockies outfielder Drew Stubbs has homered in three of the past six games and has a favorable matchup Saturday night.
Insight: Stubbs has enjoyed his first season in the light Colorado air, batting .294 with 10 HR and a career-high .830 OPS. He's 9-for-25 (.360) with a home run against Pittsburgh starter Charlie Morton.
Tyler Chatwood, SP7/17/2014 3:17:00 PM
Description: Rockies right-hander Tyler Chatwood needs Tommy John surgery, according to the Denver Post.
Insight: Chatwood had a 3.15 ERA and allowed just five home runs in 111 1/3 innings last season despite pitching at Coors Field, but he gave up four homers and had a 4.50 ERA in 24 innings this season before going down with a strained elbow.
Brett Anderson, SP7/13/2014 3:25:00 PM
Description: Colorado left-hander Brett Anderson (broken finger) will start Sunday against the Twins.
Insight: Anderson was activated from the disabled list Sunday after missing three months with a broken finger. He's extremely injury-prone and doesn't have as much upside with Colorado as he did in Oakland due to the Coors Field factor.
Charlie Blackmon, CFHot7/13/2014 12:27:00 AM
Description: Colorado center fielder Charlie Blackmon posted a five-hit night and stole a base, but it wasn't enough to help the Rockies beat the Twins.
Insight: Blackmon started out hitting .352 with nine homers, 29 RBI, 34 runs, eight steals and a .998 OPS in his first 38 games, but he predictably tailed off. He appears to have found his stroke again, batting .316 this week. It doesn't hurt that Carlos Gonzalez is back in the lineup and batting second behind Blackmon.
Wilin Rosario, C7/12/2014 3:40:00 PM
Description: Colorado catcher Wilin Rosario is not in Saturday afternoon's starting lineup.
Insight: No injury, just a routine day off after a night game. Rosario has been a disappointment, hitting .246 with nine homers, 35 RBI and a .709 OPS in 232 at-bats. He hit .282 and averaged 24 homers and 75 RBI per season the past two years.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF7/12/2014 11:02:00 AM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez has a favorable matchup in his second game back from the disabled list (finger).
Insight: Gonzalez is 6-for-17 with three home runs versus Twins starter Kevin Correia. He's not hitting up to expectations (.255, 8 HR, 31 RBI, .751 OPS), but he should be able to take advantage of this matchup.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF7/11/2014 10:43:00 AM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez (finger) has been activated from the 15-day disabled list for Friday's game against Minnesota.
Insight: Gonzalez had surgery on June 10 to remove a benign tumor from his left index finger and was given a timetable of five weeks so he beat the schedule. He's not hitting up to expectations (.255, 8 HR, 31 RBI, .756 OPS), but he should be re-installed into lineups.
Corey Dickerson, LF7/10/2014 10:26:00 AM

Drew Stubbs, CFHot7/9/2014 7:22:00 PM
Description: Rockies outfielder Drew Stubbs has homered in three of the past five games.
Insight: Stubbs has a 29.3 percent K rate so he's unlikely to keep his batting average at .294. However, he has nine homers, 11 steals and 37 runs so he has some fantasy value.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS7/9/2014 7:20:00 PM
Description: Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki went 2-for-4 with two solo homers Wednesday against the Padres.
Insight: Tulowitzki has 20 bombs, 49 RBI and 70 runs to go with a .350 average and a 1.057 OPS this season. He'll captain the NL in the Home Run Derby on Monday night.
Charlie Blackmon, CF7/9/2014 7:16:00 PM
Description: Colorado center fielder Charlie Blackmon has gone 4-for-8 with a double and two homers over the last two games.
Insight: Blackmon started out hitting .352 with nine homers, 29 RBI, 34 runs, eight steals and a .998 OPS in his first 38 games, but he predictably tailed off. He hit .239 with three homers in 50 games from May 13 to July 7. He still has excellent numbers on the year, a great home ballpark and a favorable lineup spot as Colorado's leadoff hitter.
Nolan Arenado, 3B7/9/2014 12:41:00 PM
Description: Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado has only been in the majors since 2013, but he's already racked up six hits in 13 at-bats against Padres left-hander Eric Stults.
Insight: Arenado has gone 3-for-22 (.136) since he returned from a broken finger, but he could have a big day against Stults at Coors Field.
Jhoulys Chacin, SPCold7/7/2014 9:41:00 PM
Description: While Colorado starter Jhoulys Chacin won't need surgery on his shoulder, he will be shut down for four-to-six weeks, according to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post.

Troy Tulowitzki, SS7/6/2014 2:25:00 PM
Description: Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki had missed the last two games while dealing with groin tightness, but is active and in the lineup for Sunday's game against the LA Dodgers.

Wilin Rosario, C7/6/2014 11:00:00 AM
Description: Colorado catcher Wilin Rosario is 0-for-8 with four strikeouts versus Dodgers right-hander Josh Beckett.
Insight: The Rockies catcher could easily be given the day off. Rosario has had a disappointing season, hitting .251 with eight homers, 32 RBI and a .716 OPS, numbers which are below his career production level.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS7/6/2014 10:24:00 AM
Description: Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki has missed the last two games while dealing with groin tightness and is doubtful for Sunday's game against the LA Dodgers.

Description: Rockies outfielder Drew Stubbs is a disappointing 3-for-21 (.143) with nine strikeouts against Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw.

Boone Logan, RP7/4/2014 10:35:00 AM
Description: Rockies reliever Boone Logan is expected to be activated from the disabled list in time for Friday's game against the LA Dodgers.
Insight: Logan is striking out more than a batter-per-inning (12.9 Ks/9), but his ERA (5.87) and WHIP (1.50) are totally unacceptable to fantasy owners and he has no value at this time.

Insight: It appears to be a routine day off. Michael McKenry is starting behind the plate. Rosario has had a disappointing season, hitting .250 with eight homers and a .717 OPS.

Troy Tulowitzki, SS7/1/2014 4:18:00 PM

Carlos Gonzalez, LF6/30/2014 9:37:00 PM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez (finger) hit off a tee Monday, according to Nick Groke of the Denver Post.
Insight: "Now that he can swing a bat, his rehab will go rather quickly," Rockies trainer Keith Dugger said. Gonzalez had surgery three weeks ago to remove a benign tumor from his left index finger and was given a timetable of five weeks. He could be slightly ahead of schedule.
Jhoulys Chacin, SPCold6/30/2014 6:43:00 PM
Description: Colorado starter Jhoulys Chacin has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with shoulder inflammation.
Insight: Chacin (1-7) had a 3.47 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP last season, but he's been horrible in 2014 after starting the season on the disabled list with the same shoulder issue. Over 63 1/3 innings, he's recorded a 5.40 ERA, a 1.44 WHIP and a 42/28 K/BB. He can be released in all leagues.
Corey Dickerson, LFHot6/30/2014 6:40:00 PM
Description: Rockies left fielder Corey Dickerson is not in the lineup Monday due to a hamstring injury, according to Thomas Harding of mlb.com.
Insight: The move to keep him out is precautionary after Dickerson had a hamstring cramp Sunday. He's hitting .343 with 10 homers, 33 RBI, 34 runs, five steals and a 1.026 OPS and the Rockies cannot afford to lose him with Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Cuddyer already on the DL.
Drew Stubbs, CF6/30/2014 9:46:00 AM
Description: Rockies outfielder Drew Stubbs had a very nice week, batting .438 with two homers in six games, but has an unfavorable matchup on Monday night.
Insight: The Rockies outfielder is 0-for-10 with four strikeouts against Washington starter Jordan Zimmermann. With Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Cuddyer sidelined Colorado may have to start Stubbs, but you shouldn't.

Description: Rockies left fielder Corey Dickerson is batting .359 with a 1.081 OPS this season after going 12-for-21 in his last five games.
Insight: Injuries to Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Cuddyer opened up a spot in the everyday lineup for Dickerson and he has taken advantage. He has a .422 average and a 1.214 OPS at Coors Field but also is hitting well on the road (.288, .929).
Justin Morneau, 1BHot6/25/2014 9:44:00 AM

Wilin Rosario, C6/22/2014 10:08:00 PM
Description: Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario went 4-for-5 with a double, a homer, three RBI and two runs Sunday against the Brewers.
Insight: Rosario is better than the numbers he's put up this season (.249, 8 HR, 29 RBI, .731 OPS). Right now, however, fantasy owners should only use him when the Rockies are playing at home (.167 road average).
Drew Stubbs, CFCold6/22/2014 11:20:00 AM
Description: Sunday is not a good day to start Drew Stubbs in fantasy leagues.
Insight: The Rockies outfielder is hitting .143 against today's starter, Kyle Lohse. On top of that, he's hit only .100 over his last 20 at bats. Stubbs (.289, 4 HR, 16 RBI) will eventually find his stroke again but we don't think it will happen Sunday against Lohse.

Description: Rockies left fielder Corey Dickerson ripped three hits in Saturday's loss to Milwaukee.

Description: Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado (broken middle finger) is expected to resume hitting next week, according to Nick Groke of the Denver Post.

Troy Tulowitzki, SSHot6/18/2014 9:46:00 AM
Description: Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki clubbed three hits in Tuesday night's loss to the Dodgers.
Insight: In 57 at bats this month, the MVP candidate is hitting .386 with four homers and eight RBI. The question shouldn't be "how is Tulowitzki doing this?" The better question is, why are they still pitching to him?
Corey Dickerson, LF6/18/2014 9:39:00 AM
Description: Colorardo left fielder Corey Dickerson ripped three hits in Tuesday's loss to the Dodgers.
Insight: Dickerson (.336, 8 HR, 24 RBI) had been hitless in his previous eight at bats coming into last night's game. The 25-year-old has already surpassed his previous career highs in both home runs and RBI.
Nick Masset, RP6/17/2014 2:22:00 PM
Description: Rockies reliever Nick Masset has been suspended for three games and fined after throwing at Braves catcher Evan gattis.
Insight: Masset's suspension won't change any fantasy rosters.
Charlie Blackmon, CFHot6/16/2014 10:30:00 AM
Description: Colorado center fielder Charlie Blackmon has rebounded from a slow May and first week in June to bat .391 this past week and faces a favorable matchup on Monday night.
Insight: Blackmon is 5-for-7 against Monday's starter Hyun-Jin Ryu and coming off a six-hit weekend set against the Giants. Start him.
Troy Tulowitzki, SSHot6/15/2014 8:37:00 PM
Description: Colorado shortstop Troy Tulowitzki homered Sunday in his return to the starting lineup.
Insight: He didn't start Saturday's game because of a toe injury. Tulowitzki has been impossibly hot this month, collecting 19 hits in his first 49 June at bats (.396 AVG). He leads all big league hitters in batting average (.362), on base percentage (.454), slugging percentage (.674), runs (55), wins above replacement (5.1) and OPS (1.128) this season.

Description: Rockies outfielder Corey Dickerson is not in the lineup Sunday against the Giants.
Insight: Dickerson went 0-for-5 Saturday and is getting the day off. Drew Stubbs is starting in center field and Brandon Barnes is in right. Dickerson should continue to start most days while Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Cuddyer are on the disabled list. He has batted .325 with eight homers, 23 RBI, 23 runs, four steals and a 1.011 OPS in 126 at-bats.

Description: Rockies infielder Josh Rutledge is 10-for-24 with a double, a triple and eight runs in June and he has a .438 average against Giants starter Madison Bumgarner.
Insight: The Rockies have been finding a spot in the lineup for Rutledge, either at second, third or shortstop, lately. He's 7-for-16 with a triple and a homer against Bumgarner and could be a low-cost fantasy option Sunday.
Jorge De La Rosa, SP 6/14/2014 6:15:00 PM
Description: Rockies starter Jorge De La Rosa expects to make his next start Wednesday against the Dodgers after leaving Friday's game due to lower back tightness. SOURCE: mlb.com.
Insight: De La Rosa (6-5, 4.12 ERA) exited the game after three innings Friday night. The left-hander said he felt discomfort while warming up before the game and his condition worsened during the third inning. De La Rosa also dealt with a back issue in May and had a start pushed back.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS6/14/2014 4:21:00 PM
Description: Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki is out of Saturday's lineup due to a toe injury.
Insight: Tulowitzki leads the majors with a .356 batting average. He sprained his toe while running to first base Friday night, but X-rays were negative.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS6/14/2014 2:15:00 PM
Description: Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki is hitless in 10 at-bats against Giants starter Ryan Vofelsong with four strikeouts.
Insight: There aren't many pitchers who can hold Tulo in check, but Vogelsong appears to be one of them, so don't expect a lot for the All-Star shortstop. Update: Tulowitzki is not in Saturday's starting lineup.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS6/14/2014 11:46:00 AM
Description: Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki is hitless in 10 at-bats against Giants starter Ryan Vofelsong with four strikeouts.

Description: Colorado starter Jhoulys Chacin had all his pitches working Thursday in a win over Atlanta.

Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez will need five weeks to recover from finger surgery. SOURCE: Thomas Harding, Denver Post

Wilin Rosario, C6/11/2014 9:52:00 AM
Description: Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario went 2-for-4 with a homer, two RBI and a walk Tuesday night against the Braves.

Insight: Dickerson has an everyday job with Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Cuddyer on the disabled list. He's hitting .333 with eight homers, 20 RBI, 21 runs, four steals and a 1.018 OPS and should be owned in most leagues.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF6/10/2014 7:12:00 PM
Description: Colorado left fielder Carlos Gonzalez had a benign tumor removed from his finger on Tuesday. SOURCE: Nick Groke, Denver Post
Insight: He's at least two weeks away from swinging a bat. In ESPN leagues, backup left fielder Corey Dickerson (.324, 8 HR, 19 RBI) has seen his ownership rise 23 percent in the last week.
Charlie Blackmon, CF6/10/2014 4:15:00 PM
Description: Rockies center fielder Charlie Blackmon is not in the Colorado starting lineup for Tuesday.
Insight: Blackmon (.298, 10 HR, 40 RBI, 38 runs) has gone hitless in his past two games and could just be getting a routine day off. After batting .374 in April, he hit just .260 in May and .172 in eight June games.

Carlos Gonzalez, LF6/9/2014 6:54:00 PM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez will have "exploratory surgery" on his left index finger Tuesday, the team announced.
Insight: Gonzalez (.255, 8 HR, 31 RBI) went on the disabled list with inflammation in his left index finger last week. The Rockies should release more information about his timetable after the surgery. CarGo has been a tremendous fantasy asset when healthy, but he hasn't played more than 145 games in a season during his career.
Eddie Butler, SP6/9/2014 5:50:00 PM
Description: The Rockies have placed Eddie Butler on the disabled list with rotator cuff inflammation, according to the Denver Post.

Description: Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario in not in the lineup Monday.
Insight: Rosario was scratched from Saturday's lineup due to an illness, but returned and went 1-for-2 in Sunday's rain-shortened game. It isn't clear why Rosario isn't playing Monday.

Description: Rockies right fielder Michael Cuddyer is expected to go on the disabled list with a shoulder injury, according to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post.
Insight: Cuddyer hasn't played since Thursday due to a sore left shoulder. He already spent a month on the DL this season due to a hamstring strain. Description: Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario is a late scratch from Saturday's game against the Dodgers. Michael McKenry will get the start.
Insight: We don't know of an injury, so it could just be a routine day off. Rosario is batting .234 with five homers and 22 RBI, but we expect more from him after averaging 24.5 HR and 75 RBI the past two seasons.
Michael Cuddyer, RF6/7/2014 3:04:00 PM
Description: Michael Cuddyer is not in Saturday's starting lineup.

"Tulo" is having an MVP-type season, batting a league-leading .359 with 16 HR, 41 RBI and a 1.134 OPS. Saturday, however, you shouldn't expect a lot of production.

Brett Anderson, SP6/6/2014 10:52:00 AM
Description: Colorado left-hander Brett Anderson (broken finger) is targeting an early July return, according to a Denver Post report.
Insight: Originally thought to be a 4-to-6 week injury, he's progressing slower than expected. Anderson is 0-2 with a 3.60 ERA and 1.40 WHIP this season, but showed plenty of talent in past years with Oakland ... when healthy.
Jordan Lyles, SP6/5/2014 5:45:00 PM
Description: Rockies starter Jordan Lyles suffered a broken left hand when he collided with Diamondbacks third baseman Martin Prado at home plate on Wednesday.
Insight: After posting an ERA above 5.00 in each of the last three years with Houston, Lyles has gone 5-1 with a 3.52 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP this season. He fractured his glove hand, so he may be able to return sooner than if it was his pitching hand. However, he's still out indefinitely.

Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez has officially been placed on the 15-day disabled list. SOURCE: Fox Sports

Description: Colorado left fielder Carlos Gonzalez could be on his way to the disabled list. SOURCE: Nick Groke, Denver Post
Insight: Gonzalez (.255, 8 HR, 31 RBI) aggravated a finger injury Tuesday against the Diamondbacks. His absence would open up a spot in the lineup for Corey Dickerson, who has played well in limited at bats (.345, 7 HR, 16 RBI in 98 plate appearances).
Carlos Gonzalez, LF6/3/2014 10:48:00 PM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez aggravated his left index finger injury Tuesday, according to Thomas Harding of mlb.com.

Description: Rockies left-hander Franklin Morales has lost his place in the starting rotation. SOURCE: Nick Groke, Denver Post

Eddie Butler, SP6/3/2014 9:54:00 PM
Description: According to Thomas Harding of mlb.com, the Rockies will promote pitching prospect Eddie Butler from Double-A Tulsa to start Friday against the Dodgers. Butler has a 2.49 ERA and a 40/19 K/BB in 68 2/3 innings this season.
Insight: Butler, Baseball America's No. 24 prospect, throws in the mid- to upper-90s with his fastball, so it's surprising to see such a low strikeout total. We've also seen many Rockies top pitching prospects, including Christian Friedrich, Alex White, Drew Pomeranz, Jeff Francis and Greg Reynolds, struggle at the big-league level, so temper expectations on Butler for now.
Justin Morneau, 1BCold6/1/2014 10:00:00 AM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau has hit .385 with two homers and a double in 13 at-bats against Indians starter Josh Tomlin.
Insight: Perhaps facing Tomlin Sunday will help Morneau break out of a 7-for-34 (.206) slump. If not, at least the Rockies will return to Denver Monday for a 10-game homestand. Morneau has hit .345 with a 1.005 OPS at Coors Field this season compared to .275 with an .806 OPS on the road.
Charlie Blackmon, CF5/31/2014 7:45:00 PM
Description: Rockies center fielder Charlie Blackmon bashed his tenth home run of the season Saturday against Cleveland.
Insight: Blackmon (.317, 10 HR, 37 RBI) drove in four of the six Colorado runs. He's on pace to eclipse the 100 RBI plateau for the first time in his career. Fantasy owners should be starting Blackmon on a nightly basis.
Michael Cuddyer, RF5/31/2014 4:02:00 PM
Description: Michael Cuddyer made a rare start at third base Saturday against the Indians.
Insight: Cuddyer, who began his career as a corner infielder in the early 2000s, could see time there while Nolan Arenado recovers from a broken finger. Prior to Saturday, Cuddyer's last start at third came in 2010 as a member of the Twins.

Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez (calf) missed Wednesday's start, but is back in the lineup for Friday's series opener with Cleveland.

Justin Morneau, 1B5/30/2014 9:39:00 AM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau is 5-for-12 with a home run against Cleveland right-hander Corey Kluber.

He has batted .227 with five homers, 21 RBI and a .657 OPS in 126 plate appearances. Rosario hasn't been getting air under the ball and has a 57 percent ground-ball rate, up from 41.1 percent in 2013.
Jorge De La Rosa, SPHot5/28/2014 9:22:00 AM
Description: Rockies starter Jorge De La Rosa won his sixth straight decision Tuesday at Philadelphia.
Insight: De La Rosa was 0-3 with a 7.58 ERA after four starts this year, but he's recorded a 1.80 ERA in his last seven starts. The left-hander has a career-high 55.8 percent ground-ball rate, which works well at Coors Field.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF5/27/2014 10:05:00 PM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez left Tuesday's game with a right calf contusion, according to Thomas Harding of mlb.com.
Insight: He suffered the injury on a foul ball in the second inning. Corey Dickerson replaced him in left field.
Charlie Blackmon, RF5/27/2014 3:43:00 PM
Description: Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against Philadelphia.
Insight: Blackmon batting to .323 after a two-hit game on Monday, but the Phillies are throwing a tough left-hander out there and the Rockies will give Blackmon the night off. Drew Stubbs will start in center and he's just 2-for-14 against Hamels, so not a great option.
Nolan Arenado, 3B5/27/2014 2:39:00 PM
Description: Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado (broken middle finger) is not expected to return until late June or early July, according to Jon Morosi of the MLB Network.
Insight: Josh Rutledge (.318, 1 HR, 4 RBI) has been called up from Triple-A Colorado Springs, but Charlie Culberson (.211, 1 HR, 6 RBI) has started the past three games.
Michael Cuddyer, RF5/27/2014 10:02:00 AM
Description: Rockies right fielder Michael Cuddyer has historically struggled versus Phillies left-hander Cole Hamels, with just one hit in 13 at-bats.
Insight: Cuddyer was out from April 18 through May 19 due to a left hamstring strain, but has come back strong batting .321 in the seven games since his return. Despite that, this is an unfavorable matchup which should probably be avoided.
Troy Tulowitzki, SSHot5/26/2014 2:53:00 PM
Description: Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki is in the lineup Monday against the Phillies.
Insight: Tulowitzki left Sunday's game after hitting his ankle on a backswing, but it was only for precautionary reasons.
Troy Tulowitzki, SSHot5/25/2014 9:13:00 PM
Description: Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki hit his ankle on a backswing in the eighth inning Sunday and left the game.
Insight: According to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post, Tulowitzki is fine. That's good news for fantasy owners, as Tulo has been the top player in baseball this year.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF5/24/2014 9:19:00 PM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez expects to return Sunday against the Braves. SOURCE: Patrick Saunders, Denver Post
Insight: He's sat out the last three games with finger inflammation. The 98 RBI Gonzalez is on pace for would be his most since 2010. That year he set a career-high with 117 ribbies in 587 at bats.
Juan Nicasio, SP5/24/2014 8:51:00 PM
Description: Colorado right-hander Juan Nicasio improved to 5-2 Saturday with a win against the Braves.
Insight: Nicasio held Atlanta to two hits in six shutout frames. He did walk four batters but he countered that by generating five punchouts. In terms of pitch count, this was Nicasio's longest outing of the season (103 pitches).
Josh Rutledge, 2B5/24/2014 3:42:00 PM
Description: The Rockies have called up infielder Josh Rutledge from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Insight: He could see regular at bats at third base while Nolan Arenado (.305, 6 HR, 28 RBI) recovers from a broken middle finger. Rutledge hit .318 with four RBI during an 11-game stint in the major leagues earlier this season.
Nolan Arenado, 3B5/24/2014 3:06:00 PM
Description: Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado is on his way to the disabled list.
Insight: He's out with a broken middle finger. Josh Rutledge (.318, 1 HR, 4 RBI) has been called up from Triple-A Colorado Springs to take Arenado's place on the active roster.
Charlie Blackmon, RF5/24/2014 1:23:00 PM
Description: Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Atlanta.
Insight: Blackmon is still batting to .322 though he's cooled off and has just one hit over the past four games. The day off may help him.
Brandon Barnes, CF5/24/2014 1:20:00 PM
Description: Rockies backup outfielder Brandon Barnes (.319, 0 HR, 3 RBI, 15 runs scored) will get the start in left field and bat leadoff on Saturday.
Insight: Barnes starts because Carlos Gonzalez will miss his third consecutive game due to a bruised left index finger.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF5/24/2014 1:15:00 PM
Description: Colorado left fielder Carlos Gonzalez is out again Saturday versus the Braves.
Insight: It's the third consecutive game he's missed with an inflamed index finger. Brandon Barnes (.319, 0 HR, 3 RBI, 15 runs scored) will get the start in left field and bat leadoff.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS5/24/2014 11:04:00 AM
Description: Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki is off to a great start this season, but he's hitless in eight official at-bats against Braves starter Mike Minor.
Insight: Tulo may be the best player in the NL, batting .377 with 13 HR, 35 RBI, 44 runs and a 1.200 OPS, so we don't expect fantasy owners to sit him, just don't expect much production on Saturday.
Nolan Arenado, 3B5/23/2014 9:43:00 PM
Description: Colorado third baseman Nolan Arenado has been diagnosed with a broken middle finger. SOURCE: Mike Axisa, CBS Sports
Insight: He's almost certainly headed to the DL. Charlie Culberson (.178, 1 HR, 6 RBI) should see most of the playing time at third base during his absence.
Nolan Arenado, 3B5/23/2014 8:55:00 PM
Description: Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado injured himself while sliding into second base Friday against the Braves. SOURCE: Patrick Saunders, Denver Post
Insight: He was removed in the second inning. Until we hear more, consider Arenado (.305, 6 HR, 28 RBI) day-to-day. Charlie Culberson (.182, 1 HR, 6 RBI) is in at third base.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF5/23/2014 5:55:00 PM
Description: Colorado left fielder Carlos Gonzalez is out again Friday versus the Braves. SOURCE: Rockies on Twitter
Insight: It's the second game he's missed with an inflamed index finger. Corey Dickerson (.343, 5 HR, 13 RBI) will get the start in left field.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF5/22/2014 1:15:00 PM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez won't suit up Thursday against the Giants. SOURCE: Thomas Harding, MLB.com
Insight: He's dealing with some inflammation in his left index finger. Gonzalez's .276 average this year is his lowest since 2008. That was with Oakland.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF5/22/2014 10:00:00 AM
Description: Colorado left fielder Carlos Gonzalez has a terrible matchup today against Giants starter Tim Hudson.
Insight: He's managed just two hits against him in 14 at bats. Gonzalez's .276 average this year is his lowest since 2008. That was with Oakland.
Charlie Blackmon, RF5/22/2014 9:57:00 AM
Description: Rockies right fielder Charlie Blackmon is 5-for-8 with a 1.375 OPS versus Giants veteran hurler Tim Hudson.
Insight: Blackmon is still batting to .335 though he's cooled off a bit batting .289 over the past two weeks.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF5/21/2014 2:10:00 PM
Description: Colorado left fielder Carlos Gonzalez has a terrible matchup today against Giants starter Matt Cain.
Insight: He's managed just four hits against him in 44 at bats. Gonzalez's .279 average this year is his lowest since 2008. That was his last year in Oakland.
Michael Cuddyer, RF5/20/2014 5:28:00 PM
Description: Rockies right fielder Michael Cuddyer (hamstring) will return from the DL on Tuesday.
Insight: Cuddyer has been out since April 18 due to a left hamstring strain. The team didn't miss him much because Corey Dickerson and Drew Stubbs performed so well in his absence as a platoon. Both players will go back to reserve roles while Cuddyer takes back the starting right field job.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF5/20/2014 11:20:00 AM
Description: Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez is a great choice for Tuesday in his matchup against Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner.
Insight: CarGo is a career .351 hitter with five homers and a 1.252 OPS in their matchups. He's rebounded from a bad week to hit .400 over his past four games.
Jorge De La Rosa, SPHot5/19/2014 5:52:00 PM
Description: Rockies starter Jorge De La Rosa has gone 5-0 with a 2.03 ERA over his last five starts.
Insight: De La Rosa was pushed back from his start on May 13 due to back spasms but allowed just one hit in seven scoreless innings Friday against the Padres. His ERA and WHIP are down to 4.14 and 1.20, respectively.
Justin Morneau, 1B5/18/2014 8:46:00 PM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau continued his brilliant season with a walkoff homer Sunday against the Padres.
Insight: It was one of two hits on the day for Morneau, who is now hitting .327 in 42 games this season. If this keeps up, Morneau could be MLB's Comeback Player of the Year in 2014.
Wilin Rosario, C5/18/2014 1:59:00 PM
Description: Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario (viral infection) has been activated from the 15-day disabled list.
Insight: Rosario missed the minimum amount of time. He'll return to a .239 average, three home runs and 15 RBI.
Eddie Butler, SP5/18/2014 10:46:00 AM
Description: Rockies pitching prospect Eddie Butler has a 2.98 ERA and a 31/12 K/BB in 51 1/3 innings with Double-A Tulsa this season.
Insight: Butler throws in the mid- to upper-90s with his fastball, so it's surprising to see such a low strikeout total. We've also seen many Rockies top pitching prospects, including Christian Friedrich, Alex White, Drew Pomeranz, Jeff Francis and Greg Reynolds, struggle at the big-league level, so temper expectations on Butler for now. Fellow Rockies pitching prospect Jon Gray, the 2013 No. 3 overall pick, is more highly regarded than Butler, but Butler is projected to reach the big leagues first.
Nolan Arenado, 3B5/16/2014 10:38:00 AM
Description: Colorado's young 3B Nolan Arenado is 6-for-10 versus Padres left-hander Eric Stultz.
Insight: The 23-year-old is batting .315 with six home runs, 26 RBI, 24 runs and an .858 OPS. Beware, there is a 50 percent chance of rain in Colorado.
Jhoulys Chacin, SP5/14/2014 5:27:00 PM
Description: Rockies right-hander Jhoulys Chacin has a 7/8 K/BB in 17 innings through three starts this season.
Insight: Chacin missed April due to a shoulder strain and was rocked in his first start. He's thrown quality starts in each of his last two outings, but isn't striking anyone out and isn't a good fantasy option outside of NL-only leagues.
Wilin Rosario, C5/13/2014 9:42:00 PM
Description: Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario (viral infection) should be back within a week, according to mlb.com.
Insight: Rosario is eligible to return on May 18. "I think he and (Michael Cuddyer) both will be with us shortly," manager Walt Weiss said. "Wilin is getting some at-bats down in Arizona. Within a week, we've got a chance of seeing both guys."
Michael Cuddyer, RF5/13/2014 9:40:00 PM
Description: Rockies right fielder Michael Cuddyer (hamstring) is expected to play in some extended spring training games starting on Thursday, according to mlb.com.
Insight: Cuddyer is hoping to be back on May 20. He's been out since April 18 due to a left hamstring strain.
Justin Morneau, 1BHot5/13/2014 10:51:00 AM
Description: Colorado first baseman Justin Morneau is a career .341 hitter (14-for-41) with four home runs against Royals starter James Shields.
Insight: Morneau missed some time recently with a stiff neck, but is back and should be a nice option in this favorable matchup. After a couple of lean years in Minnesota, the 2006 AL MVP appears to be regaining his stroke. He's batting .329 with eight homers and 29 RBI in 37 games this season.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF5/13/2014 10:45:00 AM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez hasn't gone up against Royals right-hander James Shields often, but he's won most of their matchups.
Insight: CarGo is a career 4-for-6 with a double and two home runs against Shields. Gonzalez isn't swinging the bat very well this week, batting just .158 in his last five games, but the sight of Shields should perk him up.
Jorge De La Rosa, SP5/12/2014 11:18:00 AM
Description: Rockies starter Jorge De La Rosa will miss his next scheduled start due to back spasms.
Insight: De La Rosa is 4-3 with a 4.81 ERA and 1.349 WHIP . Those aren't fantasy-worthy numbers, but he did win 16 games last season.
Charlie Blackmon, RFHot5/11/2014 4:08:00 PM
Description: Rockies right fielder Charlie Blackmon continued his hot hitting, slamming his ninth homer of the season.
Insight: Blackmon is batting to .352 with nine home runs, 29 RBI, 34 runs and eight steals this season. He certainly one of the biggest surprises over the first six weeks.
Troy Tulowitzki, SSHot5/11/2014 9:32:00 AM
Description: Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki is 5-for-12 (.417) against Cincinnati starter Homer Bailey.
Insight: Tulo is on fire, batting a league-leading .405 with 11 HR, 33 RBI and a 1.288 OPS. Adding a favorable matchup only throws another log on the fire.
Jordan Lyles, SPHot5/10/2014 10:32:00 PM
Description: Rockies starter Jordan Lyles ran his record to 5-0 Saturday at Cincinnati.
Insight: Lyles has a 2.66 ERA and a 32/14 K/BB in 50 2/3 innings this season and has given up just three homers, which seems unlikely to continue because he pitches in Coors Field and had a 1.2 HR/9 prior to this season. He does have a career-high 55.4 percent ground-ball rate, which is a good way to decrease home runs, but he's had good luck with a .253 BABIP. Mixed league owners can't trust him.
Corey Dickerson, LFHot5/10/2014 10:29:00 PM
Description: Rockies outfielder Corey Dickerson had two doubles and two home runs Saturday at Cincinnati.
Insight: Dickerson drove in four runs and scored three. The outfielder has been splitting time with Brandon Barnes (.347) and Drew Stubbs (.297) with Michael Cuddyer on the DL, but he's starting to stand out over those two. He has a .385 average, four home runs, 11 RBI, 11 runs and two steals in 52 at-bats. Fantasy owners should want as many stakes as possible in this Rockies offense, so we'll keep an eye on Dickerson's playing time.
Charlie Blackmon, RFHot5/10/2014 10:28:00 PM
Description: Rockies right fielder Charlie Blackmon had three hits, including a double and a homer, two RBI and three runs Saturday at Cincinnati.

Description: Rockies right-hander Jhoulys Chacin's second start of the season went much better than his first.

Nolan Arenado, 3BHot5/9/2014 9:51:00 AM
Description: Colorado 3B Nolan Arenado extended his hitting streak to 28 games Thursday against Texas.

Insight: Tulo is hitting an absurd .608 (31-for-51) with seven doubles, six homers, 22 RBI and a 1.775 OPS at Coors Field this season and has gone 30-for-60 (.500) with eight homers and 24 RBI over his last 17 games.

Charlie Blackmon, RF5/5/2014 5:34:00 PM
Description: Rockies right fielder Charlie Blackmon won't start Monday versus Texas. SOURCE: Thomas Harding, MLB.com
Insight: Even fantasy studs like Blackmon need a night off once in a while. Blackmon, aided by a lethal .422 average at Coors Field, is second in the league in hitting (.359) and fifth in runs batted in (22). Drew Stubbs (.250, 1 HR, 4 RBI) is filling in at right field tonight.

Description: Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario isn't starting Sunday's game against the Dodgers.
Insight: That means another start for Jordan Pacheco at catcher. Rosario went 1-for-3 last night with a double. This hasn't been one of his better months (.241 AVG in 79 at bats) but Rosario is still worth owning in all fantasy leagues.
Justin Morneau, 1BHot4/23/2014 9:56:00 PM
Description: Extra innings certainly helped owners of Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau Wednesday, as he started off 0-for-4 but went 2-for-2 with a homer and two RBI in his last two at-bats.
Insight: The move to Coors Field has led to the resurrection of Morneau, who struggled in Target Field the last four years and PNC Park briefly in 2013. The 32-year-old now has a .346 average, a .984 OPS, five home runs and 17 RBI in 78 at-bats.
Tyler Chatwood, SP4/23/2014 8:05:00 PM
Description: Rockies pitcher Tyler Chatwood served up three homers and allowed five runs in six innings Wednesday against the Rockies.
Insight: Colorado gave up a 5-1 lead going into the top of the third but he squandered it. After giving up just five home runs in 111 1/3 innings last season, Chatwood (1-0, 4.26 ERA, 1.05 WHIP) has allowed four in his first 19 innings this year.
Troy Tulowitzki, SSHot4/23/2014 7:54:00 PM
Description: Colorado shortstop Troy Tulowitzki raised his average to .388 and his OPS to 1.195 with three hits Wednesday against the Giants.
Insight: One of the hits left the park. Tulo has gone 11-for-21 with three homers, 10 RBI, nine runs and nine walks over his last seven games.
Charlie Blackmon, RFHot4/23/2014 7:51:00 PM
Description: Colorado right fielder Charlie Blackmon went 2-for-5 with a homer, three RBI, four runs scored and a steal Wednesday against the Giants.
Insight: Blackmon has hit four homers over his last three games and now has five on the year to go with his .410 average, 16 RBI, 19 runs, six steals and a 5/6 K/BB. The low-strikeout rate and Coors-Field factor should give the 27-year-old Blackmon staying power in fantasy leagues.
Wilin Rosario, C4/23/2014 11:20:00 AM
Description: Wilin Rosario is one of the better offensive catchers in baseball, just not against Matt Cain.
Insight: The Rockies backstop owns a .167 lifetime average versus the Giants right-hander. Catcher isn't the deepest position in fantasy but we're guessing you'll have better options than Rosario (.265, 3 HR, 13 RBI) on Wednesday.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF4/23/2014 11:04:00 AM
Description: Colorado left fielder Carlos Gonzalez couldn't have asked for a worse matchup on Wednesday.
Insight: Gonzalez is facing Giants right-hander Matt Cain, a pitcher he's had almost no success against throughout his career (4-for-44 with 17 strikeouts). The idea of benching Gonzalez (.266, 4 HR, 14 RB, 2 SB) in fantasy is usually treated like sacrilege but on this rare occasion, it's actually the right thing to do.
Jhoulys Chacin, SP4/23/2014 10:34:00 AM
Description: Colorado starter Jhoulys Chacin could be activated from the disabled list as early as April 29th. SOURCE: Denver Post
Insight: He's been in the minors rehabbing a shoulder strain. Chacin logged an impressive 3.47 ERA last season though he was a completely different pitcher on the road (2.44 ERA in 81 IP) than he was at home (4.18 ERA in 116 1/3 IP).
Franklin Morales, SP4/23/2014 9:32:00 AM
Description: Rockies starter Franklin Morales was lights out Tuesday in a win over San Francisco.
Insight: Morales surrendered just one run over seven innings, striking out seven with two walks. After losing his spot in the starting rotation earlier this season, Morales (2-1, 3.86 ERA) got it back last week when Brett Anderson underwent surgery to repair a broken finger. We'll see how long he holds onto his job this time around.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF4/22/2014 11:52:00 AM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez has taken Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner deep five times in 33 at-bats. That's the most against any pitcher he's faced.
Insight: Gonzalez (.267, 4 HR, 14 RBI) had been dealing with a knee injury that has him in and out of the lineup, but he's a must start in this favorable matchup.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF4/21/2014 7:56:00 PM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez is starting Monday against the Giants. SOURCE: Patrick Saunders, Denver Post
Insight: Gonzalez (.282, 4 HR, 14 RBI) had been questionable with a knee injury. He's tied with teammate Troy Tulowitzki for second in the league in runs scored (15).
Michael Cuddyer, RF4/21/2014 5:04:00 PM
Description: Rockies right fielder Michael Cuddyer (hamstring) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 18.
Insight: Cuddyer has been a fantasy stud since joining the Rockies. He is batting .317 with three homers, 10 RBI and 11 runs scored. Corey Dickerson and Drew Stubbs should see more at-bats in his absence.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF4/21/2014 12:01:00 PM
Description: Colorado left fielder Carlos Gonzalez left Sunday's game early with left knee tendinitis and with a poor matchup on Monday could get the night off.
Insight: Gonzalez has never done well against Giants right-hander Ryan Vogelsong (1-for-13). Cargo is off to a solid start batting .282 with four homers, 14 RBI and 15 runs scored, but he's always an injury risk.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS4/21/2014 11:59:00 AM
Description: Colorado shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, on fire over the past weekl, has a rare bad matchup on Monday.
Insight: Tulowitzki (.393, 2 HR, 12 RBI) is hitless in 10 at-bats against Giants right-hander Ryan Vogelsong. He has nine hits in his last 17 at-bats.
Justin Morneau, 1BHot4/20/2014 9:56:00 PM
Description: Justin Morneau's resurgence continued Sunday in a loss to the Phillies.
Insight: He plated five of the Rockies' nine runs. Clearly the move to hitter-friendly Coors Field has been beneficial to Morneau's fantasy value. The former Twins slugger is hitting .367 with ten RBI at home this year.
Troy Tulowitzki, SSHot4/20/2014 8:55:00 PM
Description: Colorado shortstop Troy Tulowitzki exploded for three hits Sunday in a 10-9 loss to Philadelphia.
Insight: Tulowitzki (.393, 2 HR, 12 RBI) has been out of his mind lately. Over the last week, he's gone 11-for-22 with four doubles, one homer and six runs batted in. He's the best shortstop in fantasy and we don't see that changing any time soon.
Jordan Lyles, SP 4/19/2014 10:55:00 PM
Description: Rockies starter Jordan Lyles is 3-0 with a 3.42 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP in 23 2/3 innings this season.
Insight: Lyles held the Phillies to one earned run over seven innings Saturday. He had an ERA above 5.00 in each of his first three seasons, all with the Astros. Lyles did have a 3.22 ERA in his first 58 2/3 innings last year but had a 7.27 ERA in his last 83 innings and shouldn't be owned in most leagues despite the solid start to 2014.
Justin Morneau, 1BHot4/19/2014 10:52:00 PM
Description: Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau hit his third homer in the last seven games Saturday against the Phillies.
Insight: It was Morneau's first home run at home this year. The 32-year-old hasn't hit 20 home runs since 2009, but he should get there this year; Coors Field is a much better hitter's park than either Target Field or PNC Park.
Michael Cuddyer, RF4/19/2014 10:09:00 PM
Description: Rockies right fielder Michael Cuddyer (hamstring) took batting practice Saturday but he's still sore and may have to go on the DL, according to the Denver Post.
Insight: "You can probably carry a player like that 3-4 days before you make a call," Rockies manager Walt Weiss said. "He’s still pretty sore. So we’ll have to watch him pretty close the next few days." Cuddyer tweaked his left hamstring Thursday and missed the last two games.
Michael Cuddyer, RF4/18/2014 4:35:00 PM
Description: Rockies right fielder Michael Cuddyer had to leave Thursday's game with a hamstring cramp and is not in Friday night's starting lineup.
Insight: The Rockies will go with an outfield or Carlos Gonzalez, Drew Stubbs and Charlie Blackmon. Stubbs has nothing nothing to date, batting .136 in 22 at-bats this season and shouldn't be in any fantasy lineups.
Michael Cuddyer, RF4/17/2014 9:15:00 PM
Description: Rockies right fielder Michael Cuddyer had to leave Thursday's game with a hamstring cramp. SOURCE: Thomas Harding, MLB.com
Insight: He went 0-for-3 before exiting. Brandon Barnes (.214, 0 HR, 0 RBI) has taken over for Cuddyer in right field.
Brett Anderson, SP4/17/2014 8:02:00 PM
Description: Colorado left-hander Brett Anderson had surgery to repair a broken finger on Thursday. SOURCE: Patrick Saunders, Denver Post
Insight: His recovery timetable is still 4-to-6 weeks. Franklin Morales (0-1, 5.09 ERA) has taken Anderson's place in the starting rotation.
Carlos Gonzalez, LFCold4/17/2014 7:14:00 PM
Description: Colorado left fielder Carlos Gonzalez wasn't in the starting lineup Thursday against San Diego. SOURCE: Denver Post
Insight: Gonzalez has never done well against Padres right-hander Ian Kennedy (.138 AVG in 29 at bats). Corey Dickerson (.125, 0 HR, 0 RBI) got the start in left field.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF4/17/2014 10:08:00 AM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez is a career .138 hitter (4-for-29) versus Padres starter Ian Kennedy with 13 strikeouts.
Insight: Historically, Gonzalez's worst month is April (.843 OPS), but he's off to a better start this year, batting .283 with four homers and a .915 OPS. This matchup should probably be avoided.
Juan Nicasio, SP4/16/2014 10:03:00 AM
Description: Rockies hurler Juan Nicasio improved to 2-0 with six solid innings Tuesday at San Diego.
Insight: Nicasio has a 3.50 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP in 18 innings this season. The right-hander's career FIP is 3.98 but his ERA is nearly a full run higher at 4.83 due to a career 67.5 percent strand rate. He has stranded 72.8 percent of baserunners this season.
Michael Cuddyer, RF4/15/2014 6:43:00 PM
Description: Colorado right fielder Michael Cuddyer will start Tuesday night's game against the Padres. SOURCE: Rockies PR on Twitter
Insight: He bruised his elbow during Monday night's series opener. Cuddyer (.347, 3 HR, 10 RBI) has appeared in all 15 games for the Rockies in 2014.
Tyler Chatwood, SP4/13/2014 9:44:00 PM
Description: Rockies pitcher Tyler Chatwood (hamstring) allowed four runs on six hits in six innings in his 2014 debut Sunday at San Francisco.
Insight: Chatwood was on the disabled list with a minor hamstring strain. The right-hander had one of the highest ground-ball rates in the majors last season and allowed just five home runs while posting a 3.15 ERA in 111 1/3 innings. However, he had a 6-7 GB/FB on Sunday and gave up a homer to Pablo Sandoval. He's really an NL-only option at best.
Wilin Rosario, C4/13/2014 9:42:00 PM
Description: Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario hit his first homer of the season Sunday at San Francisco.
Insight: Rosario missed Friday's game due to a left wrist strain but it looks like he's fine. He caught all 19 innings the last two days.
Brett Anderson, SP4/13/2014 7:32:00 PM
Description: Rockies starter Brett Anderson has a broken left finger, according to Troy Renck of the Denver Post.
Insight: Anderson will likely miss four-to-six weeks. The left-hander was frequently hurt in Oakland from 2009-13 and the move to Colorado hasn't changed anything. Franklin Morales will take his spot in the rotation.
Brett Anderson, SP4/13/2014 4:07:00 PM
Description: Rockies starter Brett Anderson's left finger was feeling worse than expected Sunday and he may be placed on the disabled list. SOURCE: Troy Renck, Denver Post.
Insight: Brett Anderson is injured? You don't say. That was the case so often in Oakland from 2009-13, when Anderson had a 3.81 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP but averaged just 90 innings per season. He was pulled from Saturday's start at San Francisco after three innings due to the finger injury and woke up with swelling on Sunday.
Brett Anderson, SP4/12/2014 6:06:00 PM
Description: Rockies starter Brett Anderson had to leave Saturday's game against the Giants after suffering a finger injury. SOURCE: Andrew Baggarly, Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area
Insight: Anderson (0-2, 3.60 ERA) has already been diagnosed with a bruised left index finger. He allowed just one hit in three shutout innings before exiting. We'll see if he's able to make his next start scheduled for Thursday against San Diego.
Wilin Rosario, C4/12/2014 3:19:00 PM
Description: A left wrist strain kept Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario out of the lineup on Friday, but he's back behind the plate for Saturday afternoon.
Insight: Rosario suffered the injury while sliding on Tuesday. He's off to a .233 start with zero homers. he's averaged 24.5 homers over the past two seasons and if healthy should continue at that pace.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS4/12/2014 3:17:00 PM
Description: Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki (quad) did not play Friday, but fantasy owners hope he'll be ready for Saturday because of a favorable matchup. Update: He's in the starting lineup
Insight: Tulowitzki (.393, 1 HR, 5 RBI) is a career .328 hitter (19-for-58) with four homers and a 1.046 OPS against Giants starter Matt Cain.
Michael Cuddyer, 1B4/12/2014 1:30:00 PM
Description: Rockies right fielder Michael Cuddyer is not in Saturday afternoon's starting lineup.
Insight: Cuddyer is off to another good start, batting .386 with 3 homers and 10 RBI. Cuddyer hit .331 with 20 homers, 84 RBI and a .919 OPS last season - so its not a fluke.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF4/12/2014 10:14:00 AM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez is a career .098 hitter (4-for-41) versus San Francisco Giants right-hander Matt Cain.
Insight: Gonzalez is off to a quick start, batting .375 with four homers, 13 RBI and a league-leading .800 slugging percentage. Saturday, however, is a poor matchup.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS4/12/2014 10:08:00 AM

Wilin Rosario, C4/11/2014 7:59:00 PM
Description: A left wrist strain is keeping Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario out of the lineup Friday, according to Troy Renck of the Denver Post.

Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez is a career .367 hitter with four homers and a 1.308 OPS versus Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner.
Insight: Those numbers fly in the face of Gonzalez's career statistics which show he's just a .281 hitter with a .798 OPS versus left-handers. Cargo is batting .389 this season with three homers and 11 RBI. Its ok to start him in this lefty vs. left matchup.
Charlie Blackmon, RFHot4/9/2014 8:02:00 PM
Description: Colorado right fielder Charlie Blackmon stayed hot with three hits Wednesday against the White Sox.
Insight: One of the hits was a triple. Blackmon is 16-for-34 (.471) with six extra-base hits, eight RBI, seven runs and two steals.

Description: Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki won't start Wednesday's game against Chicago. SOURCE: ESPN Denver
Insight: Tulowitzki (.407, 1 HR, 5 RBI) strained his quad Monday but was able to play yesterday without issue. We'll consider this a maintenance day for the three-time All-Star until we hear otherwise.
Troy Tulowitzki, SS4/8/2014 7:28:00 PM
Description: Colorado shortstop Troy Tulowitzki will play through a quad injury Tuesday against Chicago. SOURCE: Denver Post
Insight: Tulowitzki (.417, 1 HR, 3 RBI) left Monday's game early but it's nothing fantasy owners should be concerned about. He's off to a great start and should be started in all formats.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF4/8/2014 5:56:00 PM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez will get a night off Tuesday against the White Sox.
Insight: Gonzalez has hit safely in all eight games this season and is batting .355 with three homers, nine RBI, eight runs and two steals. Injuries are the only thing that can prevent him from being a top-10 overall fantasy option.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF4/7/2014 10:23:00 AM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez is hitless in seven at-bats versus White Sox starter Felipe Paulino.
Insight: Gonzalez is a career .309 hitter versus all right-handers, so this matchup goes against his normal production numbers. "Cargo" has started off well, batting .346 and leading the NL in runs scored (7), but perhaps you should look elsewhere for Monday.
Wilin Rosario, C4/6/2014 9:55:00 AM
Description: Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario should have a good day Sunday against the Diamondbacks and left-hander Wade Miley.
Insight: Rosario has gone 6-for-14 (.429) with one double and one homer against Miley. The Colorado backstop is still on the hunt for his first HR of 2014.

Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez left Wednesday's game due to dizziness, according to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post.
Insight: Gonzalez went 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. He has picked up one RBI and scored one run in all three games this season. The Rockies have a quick turnaround and play at 12:40 p.m. ET Thursday so CarGo probably won't play.

Description: Rockies pitcher Tyler Chatwood is questionable for Wednesday's start due to a hamstring injury, according to Troy Renck of the Denver Post.

Jhoulys Chacin, SP3/28/2014 8:17:00 PM
Description: Rockies right-hander Jhoulys Chacin (shoulder) will throw a 50-pitch bullpen session using all his pitches Friday, according to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post.
Insight: He was shut down in late February with a right shoulder strain and inflammation, but he said Friday that he feels "perfect." Chacin went 14-10 with a 3.47 ERA last season, but it's going to be extremely difficult for him to duplicate his rate of 0.50 HR/9 while pitching half his games at Coors Field. He'll rejoin the Rockies in May.

Insight: Tulowitzki was hit by a fastball and has a deep bruise, but X-rays were negative. Tulo's injury history is something to be aware of, but this type of thing can happen to anyone and shouldn't impact where you draft him.

Insight: He was shut down in late February with a right shoulder strain and inflammation. Chacin went 14-10 with a 3.47 ERA last season, but it's going to be extremely difficult for him to duplicate his rate of 0.50 HR/9 while pitching half his games at Coors Field. Michael Cuddyer, 1B3/5/2014 4:44:00 PM
Description: Rockies right fielder Michael Cuddyer took a Jeff Samardzija slider off his left hand and had to leave Wednesday's game, according to Troy Renck of the Denver Post.
Insight: The early indications were that Cuddyer didn't suffer a fracture, though he's headed for more examinations to determine the extent of his injury. Cuddyer hit .331 with 20 homers, 84 RBI and a .919 OPS last season, though he was helped immensely by a .382 BABIP. He won't have that type of good luck again.
Justin Morneau, 1B3/3/2014 10:47:00 PM

Jhoulys Chacin, SP2/23/2014 4:46:00 PM
Description: Rockies right-hander Jhoulys Chacin will undergo an MRI on his throwing shoulder to check out some inflammation on Monday.
Insight: Chacin went 14-10 last season, but it's going to be extremely difficult for him to duplicate his rate of 0.50 HR/9 while pitching half his games at Coors Field. His career HR/9 is 0.77. He only gave up 0.46 HR/9 at home last season after serving up 0.83 in his first four seasons.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF2/13/2014 4:03:00 PM
Description: Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez is way ahead of schedule in his recovery from appendectomy and hernia surgery, according to Troy Renck of the Denver Post.
Insight: The team is considering starting CarGo in center field after trading Dexter Fowler, but may keep him in left to keep his legs fresh. The outfielder should be ready for Opening Day and should be a late first-round pick in most fantasy leagues.
LaTroy Hawkins, RP2/11/2014 8:30:00 PM
Description: According to Troy Renck of the Denver Post, Rockies owner Dick Monfort said that LaTroy Hawkins is not necessarily the "everyday" closer and that Rex Brothers may get the call in the ninth if there are lefties due up.
Insight: The 41-year-old had a 2.93 ERA, a 1.15 WHIP and 13 saves over 72 appearances with the New York Mets last season before signing with Colorado. Meanwhile, Brothers threw 67 1/3 innings and posted a 1.74 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP, 19 saves and 76 strikeouts with Colorado. Hawkins will get most of the save opportunities but Brothers will still be a fantasy option in deeper leagues and the first man in line if Hawkins falters.
Roy Oswalt, SP2/11/2014 1:03:00 PM
Description: Righthander Roy Oswalt has decided to retire after 13 major league seasons. SOURCE: Buster Olney, ESPN
Insight: Oswalt pitched with the Rockies in 2013 but his last fantasy-worthy work came in 2010 while he was with Houston and Philadelphia. He'll finish his career with a 163-102 record in 365 big league appearances (341 starts).
Carlos Gonzalez, LF1/23/2014 4:43:00 PM
Description: Colorado left fielder Carlos Gonzalez had surgery for an emergency appendectomy two weeks ago, but has already been cleared for physical activity, according to the Rockies.
Insight: Gonzalez should still be ready for spring training next month. Assuming, he's back to normal by the start of 2014, Gonzalez (.302, 26 HR, 70 RBI, 21 SB in 110 games) should be a top-10 fantasy player.
Tyler Colvin, RF1/22/2014 8:52:00 PM
Description: The Orioles and outfielder Tyler Colvin came to an agreement on a new contract last week but now the team is claiming there's an issue with Colvin's physical. SOURCE: Jerry Crasnick, ESPN
Insight: It's the second time this offseason that Baltimore has agreed to a deal and then backed out because of a failed physical. We're still not sure what the issue may have been. The Orioles could revisit the deal later this offseason or they could cut the cord completely like they did with Grant Balfour a few weeks ago. For what it's worth, Colvin hit .160 last year with three homers in 27 games.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF1/11/2014 2:15:00 PM
Description: Colorado left fielder Carlos Gonzalez had surgery for an emergency appendectomy on Friday night. SOURCE: Rafael Rojas, MLB.com
Insight: Gonzalez should still be ready for spring training next month. Assuming, he's back to normal by the start of 2014, Gonzalez (.302, 26 HR, 70 RBI, 21 SB) should be a top-10 fantasy player.
Drew Stubbs, CF12/18/2013 4:27:00 PM
Description: The Indians have traded outfielder Drew Stubbs to Colorado for lefthander Josh Outman. SOURCE: Ken Rosenthal, Fox Sports
Insight: It's never a bad thing when a hitter plays half of his games at Coors Field. With that said, Stubbs has never hit above .270 and his 17 stolen bases last season were his fewest since 2009. We wouldn't waste a draft pick on him.
Boone Logan, RP12/13/2013 8:58:00 PM
Description: Former Yankees reliever Boone Logan inked a three-year deal with Colorado on Friday. SOURCE: Jon Heyman, CBS Sports
Insight: Logan finished with a 3.23 ERA last season, the fourth year in a row he's posted an ERA of lower than four. Pitching at hitter-friendly Coors Park isn't always easy but as a lefthanded specialist Logan should do fine.
Brett Anderson, SP12/10/2013 9:16:00 PM
Description: The A's dealt lefthander Brett Anderson to Colorado on Tuesday. SOURCE: Ken Rosenthal, Fox Sports
Insight: Anderson's fate was sealed as soon as Oakland signed Scott Kazmir to a two-year deal. He's in the last year of his contract and could very well be traded again before the July 31st deadline.
Justin Morneau, 1B12/4/2013 9:55:00 AM
Description: Justin Morneau's new deal with the Rockies will pay him $13 million over two years. SOURCE: Jon Heyman, CBS Sports
Insight: Morneau's power disappeared over the final month of the season but he should find it again in Colorado. Coors Field had the highest park factor in the majors last season. Twenty-five homers with an average in the .270 range seems like a reasonable expectation for fantasy owners.
LaTroy Hawkins, RP11/21/2013 9:39:00 PM
Description: The Rockies signed LaTroy Hawkins to a one-year, $2.25 million contract Thursday.
Insight: The 40-year-old Hawkins reportedly will serve as the Rockies closer over Rex Brothers, according to the Denver Post. Hawkins, who has been around since the mid-1990s, threw 70 2/3 innings and had a 2.93 ERA, a 1.15 WHIP and 13 saves this past season with the Mets. He played with Colorado in 2007 and had a 3.42 ERA in 55 1/3 innings.
Wilin Rosario, C11/4/2013 1:54:00 PM
Description: Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario could end up playing a lot at first base if rumors that the team is interested in Phillies free agent catcher Carlos Ruiz are true.
Insight: Rosario is a huge offensive weapon (.315, 21 HR, 79 RBI, .801 OPS), but Ruiz is a superb defensive catcher. With Todd Helton retired, Rosario figures to be eligible at both positions in 2014 even if the Rockies don't sign Ruiz.
Rafael Betancourt, RP10/29/2013 7:47:00 PM
Description: The Rockies won't pick up reliever Rafael Betancourt's $4.25 million option for next season. SOURCE: Rockies on Twitter
Insight: It wouldn't have made much sense as Betancourt is slated to miss the entire 2014 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in August. At age 38 and with his health in question, it could be tough for Betancourt to find another job in the big leagues.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF10/7/2013 8:56:00 PM
Description: Colorado left fielder Carlos Gonzalez is opting not to have surgery on his sprained middle finger. SOURCE: Denver Post
Insight: Gonzalez struggled with the injury for most of the second half. He made the decision to not have surgery after his finger showed improvement during an instructional league game last week. If he's back to normal by the start of 2014, Gonzalez (.302, 26 HR, 70 RBI, 21 SB) should be a top-ten fantasy player.
Michael Cuddyer, RF10/6/2013 5:07:00 PM
Description: Apparently Colorado right fielder Michael Cuddyer will move to first base next season to take over for retiring Todd Helton.
Insight: Rockies owner Dick Monfort broke the news in a letter to ticket holders. Cuddyer had an excellent season with the bat, hitting .331 with 20 HR and 84 RBI in 489 at-bats and will be a fantasy-worthy first baseman.
Juan Nicasio, SP9/29/2013 10:02:00 AM
Description: Colorado starter Juan Nicasio threw all zeros Saturday against Los Angeles.
Insight: Nicasio surrendered just three hits over 5 1/3 shutout innings. Prior to Saturday, Nicasio had been winless in his last three decisions. He'll close out the 2013 campaign with nine wins, nine losses and a 5.14 ERA in 157 2/3 IP.
Wilin Rosario, C9/27/2013 8:37:00 PM
Description: Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario (calf) is questionable for the final two games of the season, according to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post.
Insight: Rosario, who hasn't played since Sept. 17, tried to run Friday but he's still dealing with lingering soreness in his calf. The catcher has hit .292 with 21 homers, 79 RBI and an .801 OPS this season.
Tyler Chatwood, SP9/27/2013 8:25:00 PM
Description: Rockies pitcher Tyler Chatwood is dealing with minor elbow stiffness and won't make his final start of the season Sunday, according to Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post.
Insight: Chatwood missed all of August with an elbow issue. He has posted a 1.43 WHIP in 111 1/3 innings this season, but his ability to limit the longball has helped him post a career-best 3.15 ERA.
Charlie Blackmon, CFHot9/26/2013 12:27:00 PM
Description: Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon has picked up 29 hits in his last 69 at-bats (.420 average).
Insight: Blackmon has doubles seven times, tripled once and hit two home runs while producing nine RBI, 12 runs and two steals during that 15-game span.
Wilin Rosario, C9/24/2013 8:24:00 PM
Description: Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario's calf injury has improved but he will not start until the Los Angeles series, according to the Denver Post.
Insight: Rosario hasn't played since Sept. 17. The Rockies' final series of the year begins Friday at Los Angeles. The catcher has hit .292 with 21 homers, 79 RBI and an .801 OPS this season.
Carlos Gonzalez, LF9/24/2013 8:18:00 PM
Description: Rockies left fielder Carlos Gonzalez (finger) will take soft toss and then advance to batting practice this week, according to Troy Renck of the Denver Post.
Insight: Gonzalez is making one last effort to avoid surgery on his sprained right middle finger. If he does have surgery, he'll need two months minimum to recover.
Michael Cuddyer, RFHot9/24/2013 1:35:00 PM
Description: Colorado right fielder Michael Cuddyer is 7-for-22 (.318) with four homers and a 1.239 OPS against Boston starter John Lackey.
Insight: Cuddyer suffered a bruised forearm when making a diving catch last Wednesday and missed a couple of games, but he's back and swing a hot bat. Start him.
Wilin Rosario, C9/24/2013 11:46:00 AM
Description: Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario hasn't played since Sept. 17 due to a calf injury that has taken much longer to rehab than originally expected.
Insight: It doesn't seem to be anything that would affect Rosario long term but with less than two weeks left in the season any injury can be "season-ending."
Nolan Arenado, 3B9/20/2013 6:32:00 PM
Description: Rockies rookie third baseman Nolan Arenado (thumb) is starting Friday.
Insight: Arenado aggravated his right thumb injury Monday but he's ready to return to action. The 22-year-old is hitting .303 since the All-Star break.
Michael Cuddyer, RF9/20/2013 6:31:00 PM
Description: Colorado right fielder Michael Cuddyer (forearm) is not in the lineup Friday.
Insight: Cuddyer suffered a bruised forearm when making a diving catch Wednesday. He shouldn't be out more than a game or two.
Wilin Rosario, C9/20/2013 10:28:00 AM
Description: Rockies catcher Wilin Rosario didn't start Wednesday versus St. Louis and is doubtful for Friday's game against Arizona.
Insight: He's still battling a calf injury. It's doesn't seem to be anything that would affect Rosario long term but with less than two weeks left in the season any injury can be "season-ending."
Michael Cuddyer, RF9/20/2013 10:25:00 AM
Description: Colorado right fielder Michael Cuddyer left Wednesday's game against the Cardinals with a bruised right forearm after making a diving catch and is listed as day-to-day, according to the team site.
Insight: Cuddyer shouldn't be out long if at all from this injury. He's had a very good season with the bat, hitting .331 with 20 HR, 81 RBI and a .926 OPS over 125 games. He's a must start when on the field.
Nolan Arenado, 3B9/20/2013 10:22:00 AM
Description: Rockies rookie third baseman Nolan Arenado aggravated his thumb injury Monday and is still doubtful for Friday's series opener with Arizona.
Insight: Arenado is starting to get the hang of things in the big leagues. Since the All-Star break he's averaged .303 with a .750 OPS.
