Description: Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen will start the season on the 15-day disabled list with a left foot injury according to Roto World.
Insight: Jansen has an avulsion fracture in his left foot and isn't projected to be ready until mid-May. The Dogers will use a closer by committee to start the season.
Yasiel Puig, CF4/3/2015 10:00:00 AM
Description: Fantasy owners can breathe easier as Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig appears fine after a collision with Howie Kendrick on Thursday.
Insight: They were chasing a pop-up and Kendrick hit Puig up near the head and neck area. Puig left the game, but said it was precautionary, according to Dodgers reporter Alanna Rizzo.
Freddy Garcia, SP3/31/2015 10:38:00 AM
Description: Veteran righthander Freddy Garcia has been signed to a minor league contract by the Dodgers.
Insight: Garcia doesn't figure to reach the big leagues unless the team suffers multiple injuries so should not be on fantasy radar screens. He pitched in Taiwan last season.
Andre Ethier, OF3/26/2015 9:19:00 AM
Description: Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier was 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and two runs in the, 11-7, victory over the Padres on Saturday.
Insight: Ethier started once again because of Yasiel Puig's injury. He hit a two-run homer in the first and then added an RBI on a single in the eighth. Ethier is hitting .353/.452/.647 with two home runs and six RBI in 34 at-bats this season, so Los Angeles has no reason to rush back Puig.
Hyun-Jin Ryu, SP3/24/2015 1:56:00 PM
Description: Dodgers left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder) will rest for two weeks and then be evaluated at that point, according to the Dodgers offical Twitter site.
Insight: The Dodgers have been very cautious with Ryu, and there is still no timetable for when he will be ready for game action. Ryu is looking like he'll start the season on the DL.
Joe Wieland, SP3/23/2015 1:00:00 PM
Description: Dodgers' newly-acquired pitcher Joe Wieland could find himself with a spot in the starting rotation, at least at the start of the season.
Insight: Wieland could take Hyun-Jin Ryu's spot (shoulder) in the rotation. He's only pitched 39 inning in the majors over the past three seasons due to TJ surgery, but the right-hander had a 3.29 ERA and a terrific 408/80 K/BB in 438 minor league innings. He's got a 1.00 ERA in nine innings this spring.
Hyun-Jin Ryu, SP3/22/2015 1:38:00 PM
Description: Dodgers left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder) will resume throwing on Sunday.
Insight: The Dodgers have been very cautious with Ryu, and there is still no timetable for when he will be ready for game action. Ryu is looking very questionable for Opening Day.
Carl Crawford, LF3/7/2015 4:28:00 PM
Description: Dodgers left fielder Carl Crawford left Saturday's game after fouling a ball off of his shin.
Insight: The injury does not appear to be serious, as Crawford was able to finish the at-bat. However, he has failed to play more than 130 games in each of the past four seasons, so any injury for Crawford has to be a tad bit concerning.
Clayton Kershaw, SP3/5/2015 6:14:00 PM
Description: Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw did not allow a base runner in two innings of work on Thursday.
Insight: A few years ago, baseball had a saying, "Just Manny being Manny" referring to Manny Ramirez. The Sports Network would like to start a new saying, "Just Clayton being Clayton." Kershaw recorded six outs versus six batters and struck out three of them. There is no argument who is the No. 1 pitcher coming off draft boards this spring.
Andre Ethier, OF3/4/2015 11:49:00 PM
Description: The Dodgers are willing to pay half of outfielder Andre Ethier's salary in order to trade him this spring according to CBS Sports.
Insight: Ethier is due $56 million over the next three years, so Los Angeles is offering to pay about $28 million of that. Matt Kemp left in free agency over the winter, but with youngster Joc Pederson expected to play center field, the Dogers still have the problem of too many outfielders. Time will tell if Ethier gains any interest from other clubs.
Matt Kemp, OF3/4/2015 8:35:00 PM
Description: Padres outfielder Matt Kemp was 0-for-3 in his Padres debut on Wednesday.
Insight: Kemp struck out once and grounded into a double-play. Kemp had a great bounce-back season a year ago, hitting .287/.346/.506 with 25 home runs and 89 RBI. Fantasy owners should be wary, however, that San Diego's Petco Park is a much more pitcher-friendly park than Dodger Stadium.
Joc Pederson, OF3/4/2015 8:30:00 PM
Description: Dodgers outfielder Joc Pederson was 2-for-2 with a double and a run in two at-bats on Wednesday.
Insight: Pederson is projected to be the Dogers Opening Day center fielder. He had just four hits in 28 at-bats last September, so it is nice to seem him have more success. The expectations are high on this 22-year-old.
Hyun-Jin Ryu, SP3/2/2015 2:47:00 PM
Description: Dodgers left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu is about a week behind after tweaking a muscle in his back.
Insight: He threw a bullpen session on Monday, so he's headed in the right direction. Ryu was 14-7 with a 3.38 ERA and 1.191 WHIP last season. He's in a nice spot as the Dodgers No. 3 starter and should be able to repeat last year's totals.
Zack Greinke, SP2/21/2015 3:02:00 PM
Description: Dodgers starter Zack Greinke had a "precautionry" injection in the elbow on Thursday, according to Dodgers beat reporter Ken Gurnick.
Insight: It's supposed to help prevent "dead arm," but any time a pitcher is getting injections in the elbow or shoulder fantasy owners will have to pay attention. It's not a time to change his draft status, but fantasy owners planning on drafting him should follow this closely.
Brandon Beachy, SP2/21/2015 2:39:00 PM
Description: Right-hander Brandon Beachy, trying to return from a second Tommy John surgery, has signed a one-year deal with the Dodgers.
Insight: Beachy has appeared in only 18 games since the start of 2012, but offers a huge upside if he can get healthy.
Kenley Jansen, RP2/17/2015 9:33:00 PM
Description: Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen will miss two-to-three months after undergoing surgery Tuesday to remove a growth from a bone in his left foot.
Insight: This news come out of nowhere, and while Jansen will not miss much of the regular season, look for Los Angeles to sign either Francisco Rodriguez or Rafael Soriano to help fill the void.
Brian Wilson, RP12/21/2014 11:18:00 AM
Description: The Dodgers have released reliever Brian Wilson.
Insight: Wilson was a disaster in 2014 (2-4, 4.66 ERA, 1.61 WHIP) after pitching well in 2013. Someone will take a chance of the "bearded one."
Howie Kendrick, 2B12/11/2014 2:55:00 AM
Description: Angels second baseman Howie Kendrick has been traded to the Dodgers.
Insight: Well at least he probably doesn't have to sell his house. The Dodgers are loading up on talent and Kendrick should replace Dee Gordon (traded to Miami) and hold the job until he becomes a free agent at the end of 2015. By then, Alex Guerrero should be ready.
Clayton Kershaw, SP11/13/2014 7:51:00 PM
Description: Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw was named the winner of the 2014 National League MVP award.
Insight: After taking home the NL Cy Young on Wednesday, Kershaw capped off his stellas season with the MVP award on Thursday. He is the best pitcher in baseball.
Hanley Ramirez, SS11/7/2014 1:22:00 PM
Description: Free agent shortstop Hanley Ramirez is telling teams he'll play anywhere, not just shortstop if needed, according to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman.
Insight: Ramirez' s best fantasy value is obviously at shortstop, but a move to third base wouldn't killl his value as much one to first base or a corner outfield spot.
Dan Haren, SP10/22/2014 5:50:00 PM
Description: Dodgers starter Dan Haren underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder Wednesday afternoon according to the Los Angeles Times.
Insight: Haren is still right-handed, so the surgery is considered minor. He is expected to be ready for spring training. Haren had a 2.09 ERA in his final seven starts of 2014.
Clayton Kershaw, SP10/7/2014 8:15:00 PM
Description: Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw dominates through six, then blows lead in seventh.
Insight: He had given up only one hit through six innings, but gave up the big three-run homer to Matt Adams in the seventh. Officially Kershaw went six innings (pitched into seventh), allowing three runs on four hits and two walks, while striking out nine. He is now 1-5 during his postseason career.
Andre Ethier, OF10/7/2014 2:38:00 PM
Description: Los Angeles outfielder Andre Ethier will get a start in Game 4. He'll bat sixth and play center field.
Insight: Ehtier is 2-for-6 with a home run against Cardinals right-hander Shelby Miller. Yasiel Puig (3-for-12) will take a seat.
Yasiel Puig, CF10/7/2014 2:35:00 PM
Description: Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig is not in Tuesday's starting lineup.
Insight: Andre Ethier will get a shot against Shelby Miller and play center field. Ethier is 2-for-6 with a home run against the Cardinals Game 4 starter.
Carl Crawford, LF10/7/2014 10:52:00 AM
Description: Dodgers left fielder Carl Crawford is 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles versus Cardinals right-hander Shelby Miller..
Insight: Crawford is 3-for-12 in the postseason after a solid regular season in which he batted .300 with eight homers, 46 RBI and 56 runs in just 343 at-bats.
Adrian Gonzalez, 1B10/7/2014 10:49:00 AM
Description: Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez is 4-for-7 with a home run against Cardinals right-hander Shelby Miller.
Insight: Add to a favorable matchup the wind will be blowing out to right at 10-15 mph and we like our chances with A-Gone.
Clayton Kershaw, SP10/6/2014 7:06:00 PM
Description: Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw will start Game 4 of the NLDS on short rest.
Insight: Game 4 is on Tuesday, and Don Mattingly did not want to wait to make the announcement. If the series goes to five games, Zack Greinke would get the nod, in the decisive game.
Carl Crawford, LF10/6/2014 11:20:00 AM
Description: Dodgers left fielder Carl Crawford is a career .479 hitter versus Cardinals right-hander John Lackey.
Insight: Crawford is 2-for-8 in the postseason after a solid regular season in which he batted .300 with eight homers, 46 RBI and 56 runs in just 343 at-bats.

Description: Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis went 1-for-3 with a double and run scored in Game 2 of the NLDS on Saturday.

Zack Greinke, SP10/5/2014 9:14:00 AM
Description: Dodgers starter Zack Greinke pitched seven strong innings, allowing just two hits and no runs in a no-decision against the Cardinals in Game 2 of the NLDS on Saturday.
Insight: Greinke struck out seven and walked two. He left with a 2-0 lead, but relief pitcher J.P. Howell gave up a two-run bomb to Matt Carpenter in the eighth. Greinke also had two hits and scored a run as the Dodgers were able to come back and win to even the series 1-1.
Matt Kemp, OF10/5/2014 9:04:00 AM
Description: Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp hit a solo home run in the eighth to propel Los Angeles over St. Louis, 3-2, in Game 2 of the NLDS on Saturday.
Insight: The Cardinals again rallied in Game 2 to tie the score, but the Dodgers responded with Kemp's home run. Kemp looks to be back in MVP form; he competed for the award back in 2012.
Zack Greinke, SP10/4/2014 10:07:00 AM
Description: Dodgers starter Zack Greinke is 1-1 against the Cardinals this season.
Insight: He did beat St. Louis at Dodger Stadium, and has pitched extremely well at home, overall. Greinke is 10-2 pitching in Los Angeles, with a 2.55 ERA and 111 strikeouts. He will look to help the Dodgers even the series at 1-1, on Saturday night.

Description: Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig has big night in Game 1 of NLDS.
Insight: He went 2-for-4 with a walk, one RBI and three runs scored. However, Puig did strike out with the tying run on third, to end the game. This looks like its going to be an extremely exciting series.
Matt Kemp, OF10/3/2014 10:39:00 PM
Description: Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp has nice night at the plate Friday.
Insight: He was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Kemp continued his hot hitting from the second half of the regular season, and has seemingly put all injury-related questions to rest.
Clayton Kershaw, SP10/3/2014 10:37:00 PM
Description: Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw falls apart in seventh inning versus St. Louis.
Insight: He was cruising along during Game 1 of the NLDS, but uncharacteristically could not stop the bleeding during the top half of the seventh. Kershaw went 6 2/3 innings, allowing eight runs on eight hits, while striking out 10. He will hope to get another opportunity to redeem himself this postseason. Kershaw is now 1-4 over his career during postseason play.
Clayton Kershaw, SP10/3/2014 9:47:00 AM
Description: Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw was 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA and 1.000 WHIP in 14 IP against the Cardinals this season.

Clayton Kershaw, SP9/30/2014 8:52:00 PM
Description: Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw will likely pitch on short rest in a potential NLDS Game 4 according to ESPN Los Angeles.
Insight: If Don Mattingly could, he would pitch Kershaw everyday. In a 5-game series, it makes the Dodgers awfully tough to beat when Kershaw is pitching two of the first four games of the series. Throw in the fact that Zach Greinke pitches Game 2, it is virtually impossible to win just two games and force a Game 5. This strategy worked last year, so why not try it again against the Cardinals, the team that knocked the Dodgers out in the NLCS a year ago.
Dee Gordon, 2B9/30/2014 8:32:00 PM
Description: Dodgers second baseman Dee Gordon completely expects to play in Game 1 of the NLDS on Friday against the Cardinals according to Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times.

Zack Greinke, SP9/28/2014 7:28:00 PM

Insight: The Dodgers did not want to overwork him, as he only threw 77 pitches. Greinke went five innings of one-run ball on four hits, while striking out six. He finishes the year at 17-8 with a 2.71 ERA. Greinke should be starting Game 2 of the NLDS.
Matt Kemp, OF9/28/2014 6:49:00 PM
Description: Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp finishes the year in style.
Insight: He was 2-for-2 before being removed from the game. Kemp clubbed his 25th homer and had three RBI. He will be heading into postseason play on fire.

Dee Gordon, 2B9/27/2014 9:38:00 PM
Description: Dodgers second baseman Dee Gordon exits Saturday's game versus Colorado with an apparent leg injury, according to Pedro Moura.
Insight: Not good timing for Los Angeles. It looked like Gordon tweaked something when running out a groundball in the first inning. The Dodgers will provide an upsate shortly, but for now Darwin Barney has taken over.
Carl Crawford, LF9/25/2014 9:45:00 AM

Clayton Kershaw, SP9/25/2014 9:33:00 AM
Description: Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw pretty much clinched the NL West by himself on Wednesday.
Insight: Kershaw pitched eight innings, allowing one run, but he also hit a triple and showcased a fantastic glove in the field. On the mound, Kershaw struck out 11 and walked none to win a league-high 21st game of the season. The 21 victories ties a career-high Kershaw set in 2011. He is 21-3 with a 1.77 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 239 strikeouts in 198 1/3 innings this year. He is a shoe-in for his third Cy Young. The better question is will he also win the National League MVP.
Dee Gordon, 2B9/23/2014 6:46:00 PM
Description: Dodgers second baseman Dee Gordon is getting the night off Tuesday.

Insight: Kemp started the Cubs series 0-for-4 on Thursday, but went 7-for-13 over the next three games with two home runs and seven RBI. He hopes to continue the trend on Monday when the Giants come to town. Kemp is batting .286 with 23 home runs and 84 RBI this year.
Adrian Gonzalez, 1B9/20/2014 5:53:00 PM
Description: Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez slugged his 24th and 25th homeruns durinng Saturday afternoon's game against the Cubs.
Insight: It wasn't enough as Los Angeles blew a 7-2 lead. Gonzalez had five RBI as well, and is now hitting .278 witrh 111 RBI. Another fine year for Mr. Gonzalez.
Scott Van Slyke, RF9/20/2014 11:30:00 AM
Description: Los Angeles outfielder Scott Van Slyke is in Saturday's starting lineup while Carl Crawford will sit.
Insight: Van Slyke is batting .287 with eight homers and a 1.006 OPS versus southpaws and will get a chance against left-hander Felix Doubront on Saturday.
Carl Crawford, LF9/20/2014 11:28:00 AM
Description: Dodgers left fielder Carl Crawford will take a seat Saturday against the left-hander Felix Doubront.

Overall, Crawford is batting .291 with seven home runs and 41 RBI and 51 runs scored in 320 at-bats this season, but as usual can't stay healthy.
A.J. Ellis, C9/19/2014 6:55:00 PM
Description: Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis hit two home runs in the Windy City on Friday.
Insight: The win was blowing out of Wrigley on Friday afternoon which seemed to help all the hitters. Ellis took Cubs relief pitcher Eric Jokisch deep in the first and again in the third. It was just Ellis' second and third homers of the season as he is batting .193/.328/.261.
Clayton Kershaw, SP9/19/2014 6:53:00 PM
Description: Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw won his 20th game of the season on Friday.
Insight: Kershaw actually had one of his worst starts of the season but still captured the victory over the Cubs. He allowed three runs in five innings, gave up seven hits and three walks. He did strikeout nine. Despite the poor start by his standards, his ERA is still 1.80 with one start left in the regular season.
Clayton Kershaw, SPHot9/19/2014 11:49:00 AM
Description: Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw might be tested by the weather this afternoon as much as the Chicago Cubs lineup.
Insight: The Dodgers' ace is 19-3 with a 1.70 ERA and 219 strikeouts in 185 1/3 innings pitched this year, but the wind will be blowing out to left at around 13 mph Friday afternoon. Just something to consider.
Carl Crawford, LF9/19/2014 11:46:00 AM
Description: Dodgers left fielder Carl Crawford is hitless in eight at bats versus Cubs starter Edwin Jackson.
Insight: Crawford has been hot over the past two weeks, batting .452 covering the past 11 games, but this matchup isn't likely to help those numbers. Overall, Crawford is batting .291 with seven home runs and 41 RBI and 51 runs scored in 320 at-bats this season, but as usual can't stay healthy.

A.J. Ellis, C9/17/2014 1:53:00 PM
Description: Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis is not in the starting lineup Wednesday against the Rockies.
Insight: Tim Federowicz is starting in his place. Ellis has had a rough season at the plate (.190 BA with 1 HR and 18 RBI), but he continues to handle the pitching staff extremely well.
Dee Gordon, 2B9/17/2014 1:49:00 PM
Description: Dodgers second baseman Dee Gordon (rest) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's afternoon game against the Rockies.
Insight: It is just a routine day off for Gordon. He is hitting .290 with a ridiculous 62 stolen bases in 2014. Darwin Barney gets the start at second base today.
Matt Kemp, OFHot9/17/2014 10:50:00 AM
Description: Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp has finally gotten back to his MVP form.
Insight: He is hitting .322 with six homeruns and 20 RBI over the past 28 days, and has a great matchup Tuesday night against Jorge De La Rosa (15-for-36 with 3 HR and 12 RBI). If owners have been living under a rock over the past month, make sure Kemp is in your lineup.
Dee Gordon, 2B9/16/2014 12:06:00 AM
Description: Dodgers second baseman Dee Gordon went 2-for-5 and scored on Tuesday against the Rockies.
Insight: Gordon scored on Yasiel Puig's double in the ninth, but it was an irrelevant run as the Rockies won, 10-4. Gordon is batting .290 with 87 runs and 62 steals this season.
Clayton Kershaw, SP9/14/2014 7:31:00 PM
Description: Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw won his 19th game this season and retakes the lead for victories in the majors.

Kershaw has pitched at least eight innings in his last seven starts. The Dodger ace is 19-3 with a 1.70 ERA and 219 strikeouts in 185 1/3 innings pitched this year. Kershaw is 14-3 with a 1.86 ERA and 0.839 OPS for the season, but just 1-1 with a 2.63 ERA and 0.92 OPS in his last three starts.

Adrian Gonzalez, 1B9/12/2014 1:43:00 PM
Description: Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez is 4-for-29 (.138 with six strikeouts versus Gaints left-hander Madison Bumgarner.
Insight: Gonzalez cracked the 100-RBI mark again this season and his 23 homers is his best total since 2011. This matchup, however, should probably be avoided.

Description: Dodgers left fielder Carl Crawford went 4-for-4, including three doubles on Wednesday and finished the series against the Padres, 9-for-12.

Last weekend, however, he went 6-for-12 in a series against Washington. Crawford is batting .289 with seven home runs and 37 RBI in 309 at-bats this season.

Insight: Ramirez has hit better of late, batting .368 over his last five games, but we don't like this matchup. This isn't the same hitter who dominated last season. He's batting just .267 with 13 HR and 65 RBI. Good, but not great.
Yasiel Puig, CFCold9/9/2014 12:09:00 PM
Description: Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig is just 1-for-11 versus Padres right-hander Andrew Cashner.
Insight: Puig hasn't been hitting up to previous standards, batting just .203 over the past month with an ugly .552 OPS. If he keeps this up, he'll be just one of the many outfielders Don Mattingly has to decide to start each day and not a fantasy stud.
Adrian Gonzalez, 1BHot9/8/2014 11:35:00 AM
Description: Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez nailed two three-run bombs in the Dodgers' 7-2 victory over the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
Insight: Gonzalez came up with two runners on in the sixth and seventh and hit home runs in each at-bat. The big afternoon put Gonzalez at 22 home runs and at 100 RBI on the season. It is the fifth straight year Gonzalez has reached 100 RBI. He is hitting .279/.338/.474 this season.
Juan Uribe, 3B9/7/2014 10:37:00 AM
Description: Dodgers third baseman Juan Uribe is a career 2-for-15 (.133) hitter against Diamondbacks starter Trevor Cahill.
Insight: Uribe is hitting .294 so far in September with one home run and four RBI but this is a matchup to stay away from. Uribe is hitting .294 with seven home runs and 41 RBI in 326 at-bats this year.
Adrian Gonzalez, 1BHot9/7/2014 9:49:00 AM
Description: Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez is a career .440 hitter (11-for-25) with a pair of homers versus Diamondbacks right-hander Trevor Cahill.
Insight: Gonzalez is hitting .278 with only 20 home runs and 94 RBI. He should be a lock for his fifth consecutive 100-RBI season.
Kenley Jansen, RP9/7/2014 9:42:00 AM
Description: Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen saved his 41st game of the season on Saturday, nailing down a 5-2 victory over the Diamondbacks on Saturday.
Insight: His 41 saves ranks him fifth in the majors. Jansen's ERA is a tad high for a closer at 3.09, but he has a 1.17 WHIP and 90 strikeouts versus 16 walks this year.
Hyun-Jin Ryu, SP9/7/2014 9:31:00 AM
Description: Dodgers left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu pitched six and 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, striking out nine and walking none in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks on Saturday.
Insight: Ryu had a two-run lead going into the top of the seventh but gave up three hits to cough up the lead. The Dodgers came back to win with three runs in the eighth. Besides losing his lead, Ryu pitched very well and lowered his season ERA to 3.27. He is 13-6 with 138 strikeouts and only 28 walks in 151 innings this year.
Joc Pederson, OF9/6/2014 6:45:00 PM
Description: Dodgers outfielder Joc Pederson is making his third start this week on Saturday.
Insight: The regular Dodgers center fielder Yasiel Puig is dealing with stomach issues and is out of the lineup on Saturday. Pederson has played in place of Puig twice and Kemp once this week. The Dodger outfield is crowded, but Pederson could see some major time down the stretch. He hit .303 with 33 home runs and 78 RBI at Triple-A this year.
Yasiel Puig, CFCold9/6/2014 6:15:00 PM
Description: Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig is out of the starting lineup against on Saturday against the Diamondbacks.
Insight: Joc Pederson is starting in center field over Puig. All indications point to Pederson beginning to get regular time in the outfield, so Puig's value is going to take a hit the rest of the month.
Josh Beckett, SP9/5/2014 8:15:00 PM
Description: Dodgers right-hander Josh Beckett (hip) admitted Friday that he will not return before the end of the 2014 season.
Insight: Beckett (6-6, 2.88 ERA, 1.17 WHIP) has been really slow to recover from the right hip impingement and is likely to undergo surgery. Beckett could even retire. The pitcher has not brought up retirement, but he also has not said he will be definitely be back in 2015.
Hanley Ramirez, SS9/3/2014 10:05:00 AM
Description: Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez is a career 10-for-22 (.455) against Nationals starter Jordan Zimmermann.
Insight: Ramirez can't find his swing of late, going 0-for-16 over his last four games. This isn't the same hitter who dominated last season. He's batting just .264 with 13 HR and 60 RBI. Good, but not great.
Matt Kemp, OFHot9/3/2014 9:54:00 AM
Description: Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp is a career .429 hitter (6-for-14) with two home runs versus Nationals right-hander Jordan Zimmermann.

Matt Kemp, OF8/31/2014 10:21:00 PM
Description: Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp was 2-for-4 with a double, RBI, and run against the Padres on Sunday.
Insight: Kemp has been getting consistent at-bats since the All-Star break, but hasn't been doing as much with them lately. After a great July, Kemp cooled off in August, hitting .248, but he did have five home runs, eight doubles and 17 RBI in the month as well.
Adrian Gonzalez, 1B8/31/2014 10:14:00 PM
Description: Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez recorded four hits on Sunday against the Padres.
Insight: Gonzalez had a hit in every game of the weekend series against the Padres, but was just 2-for-10 in the first two games combined. Gonzalez is hitting .279 with only 19 home runs, but he does have 35 doubles and close to the top of the league with 91 RBI.
Hyun-Jin Ryu, SP8/31/2014 10:04:00 PM
Description: Dodgers left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu pitched seven strong innings, allowing one run on four hits against the Padres on Sunday.
Insight: It's a great sign considering the Dodgers just activated him from the disabled list Sunday afternoon. Ryu had not pitched since August 13 because of a straind glute. He is 14-6 with a 3.18 ERA and 129 strikeouts in 144 and 1/3 innings this year.
Hyun-Jin Ryu, SP8/31/2014 3:37:00 PM
Description: Dodgers left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu (glute) has been activated and return to Dodgers starting rotation on Sunday.
Insight: Ryu has been out since Aug. 13 due to a strained glute but made it through a simulated game on Wednesday without issue. He has a 13-6 record, 3.28 ERA, 1.19 WHIP in 137 1/3 innings this year.
Juan Uribe, 3B8/31/2014 2:06:00 PM
Description: Dodgers third baseman Juan Uribe (hamstring) has been activated from the 15-day disabled list and should be back in the lineup Sunday.
Insight: Justin Turner has been playing third in Uribe's absence and will be relegated back to a backup role. Uribe is batting .293 with six homers and 35 RBI in 81 games.
Zack Greinke, SP8/31/2014 8:58:00 AM
Description: Another solid outing from Dodgers right-hander Zack Greinke who went eight innings yielding just four hits and one earned run.
Insight: Greinke earned a no-decision because the Dodgers' bats were equally inept against Padres starter Ian Kennedy.
Yasiel Puig, CFCold8/30/2014 5:01:00 PM
Description: Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig is back in the Dodgers lineup Saturday.
Insight: Los Angeles manager Don Mattingly gave Puig Friday off to try and give him a breather. Puig is hitless in his last 17 at-bats. Andre Ethier played center field on Friday and returns to the bench on Saturday.

Description: Dodgers first baseman is a career .212 hitter (7-for-33) with home run and four RBI against Padres pitcher Ian Kennedy.

Hanley Ramirez, SS8/30/2014 9:52:00 AM
Description: Despite his career struggles against Padres starter Andrew Cashner, Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez went 3-for-4 on Friday night.
Insight: Ramirez came into the game 1-for-14 versus Cashner. The shortstop tied the game with a third-inning RBI double off the Padre starter and then tied the game at two with a solo home run off reliever Dale Thayer in the eighth. Ramirez came into the game just 1-for-12 since returning from the disabled list, so perhaps he has broken out of his funk.

Description: Dodgers left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu (glute) plans to rejoin the Dodgers starting rotation on Sunday.
Insight: Ryu has been out since Aug. 13 due to a strained glute but made it through a simulated game on Wednesday without issue. He has a 13-6 record, 3.28 ERA, 1.19 WHIP in 137 1/3 innings this year.
Juan Uribe, 3B8/29/2014 7:57:00 PM
Description: Dodgers third baseman Juan Uribe (hamstring) ran the bases without any pain on Friday, and is still expected to return the lineup on Saturday.
Insight: Running the bases was the last hurdle Uribe had to overcome before returning. The third baseman has been taking batting practice all week with no issues. Justin Turner has been playing third in Uribe's absence and will be relegated back to a backup role.
Yasiel Puig, CFCold8/29/2014 7:14:00 PM
Description: Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig is not in the Dodgers lineup Friday night.
Insight: Puig has been slumping and does not have good career numbers against Padres starting pitcher Andrew Cashner. Andre Ethier will play center field on Friday, and Puig will return on Friday.
Yasiel Puig, CFCold8/29/2014 10:46:00 AM
Description: Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig is just 1-for-11 with four strikeouts against Padres starter Andrew Cashner.
Insight: Puig is hitting .301/.388/.495 with 13 home runs and 59 RBI and 71 runs this year. He's hitless in his last three games (0-for-14) and this unfavorable matchup doesn't figure to help those numbers.
Hanley Ramirez, SS8/29/2014 10:44:00 AM
Description: Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez is just 1-for-14 (.071) versus Padres starter Andrew Cashner.
Insight: Ramirez (.270, 12 HR, 58 RBI, 12 SB) is well off last year's pace, but still provides solid shortstop production. Probably not Friday, however.
Scott Van Slyke, RF8/28/2014 10:50:00 AM
Description: Los Angeles outfielder Scott Van Slyke left Wednesday's game after turning his right ankle chasing down a ball in right center.
Insight: X-rays were negative. Van Slyke was a great fantasy option Wednesday and went 1-for-2 with a solo homer before leaving, but doesn't see much regular time. He should miss the next few days.
Scott Van Slyke, RF8/27/2014 10:58:00 PM
Description: Los Angeles outfielder Scott Van Slyke left Wednesday's game in the bottom of the fourth inning with an apparent ankle injury. He twisted his ankle while chasing a ball in left center field but walked off under his own power.

Insight: Gonzalez continued his hot August with a single, RBI and two runs on Tuesday. This month, he is batting .325 with 19 RBI and a .892 OPS. He is also 6-for-9 with two doubles, a home run and seven RBI in the last three games. With those numbers, it might be hard to sit him, but be aware of his lack of success against Miley.
