UT Martin to face challenging 2014 schedule

Martin, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - UT Martin's football team is set to play what coach Jason Simpson call one of the more challenging schedules of his nine-year tenure.

The Ohio Valley Conference program announced a 12-game schedule on Tuesday, including visits to two Southeastern Conference opponents and five home matchups.

The Skyhawks, who finished 7-5 last season, will open the season at Kentucky (Aug. 30) and also visit Mississippi State (Nov. 8).

Their home games are against NAIA member Cumberland (Sept. 11) and OVC opponents Eastern Kentucky (Sept. 20), Southeast Missouri State (Sept. 27), Tennessee Tech (Oct. 9) and Austin Peay (Oct. 25, Homecoming).

UT Martin also will play road games against Central Arkansas (Sept. 6) of the Southland Conference and OVC opponents Jacksonville State (Oct. 4), Tennessee State (Oct. 18), Murray State (Nov. 1) and Eastern Illinois (Nov. 22), the two- time defending champion.
