Towson extends Ambrose's contract through 2020

Towson, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Fresh off leading Towson University to the FCS championship game, head football coach Rob Ambrose has agreed in principle to a contract extension through the 2020 season.

Ambrose has been Towson's coach for five seasons, compiling a 32-29 record overall, but 29-10 over the last three seasons. The Tigers went 13-3 this season while finishing as the national runner-up to North Dakota State.

"What a great day for Towson University and the future of the football program," athletic director Tim Leonard said. "Rob will be a Towson Tiger for a long time. We are fortunate the new terms make it a competitive contract within the Colonial Athletic Association and nationally in the FCS."

Ambrose, a 1993 graduate of Towson, won the 2011 Eddie Robinson Award, presented by The Sports Network to the FCS coach of the year. The Tigers went from last place in CAA Football the year before to a conference championship.

"It is an honor to serve as the head football coach at Towson University and to be a part of our great community," Ambrose said. "In the past five years, we have worked hard to be strong representatives of Towson University, the town of Towson, and the city of Baltimore."
