The Tar Heels gained a 27-7 lead with a 17-yard touchdown pass from Williams to Howard late in the third quarter.

Williams scored on his own on a four-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter.

After failing to score in the second and third quarters, Boston College finally ended the drought with a 38-yard field goal from Nate Freese with just over two minutes left in regulation.
