Bloomington, IN (Sports Network) - Keenan Reynolds rushed for 127 yards and three touchdowns as the Navy Midshipmen held on for a 41-35 win in their season opener against the Indiana Hoosiers at Memorial Stadium.

Reynolds had a game-high 32 rushing attempts and also threw for 71 yards to lead Navy (1-0), which also defeated Indiana, 31-30, a year ago. Darius Staten rushed for 106 yards on nine carries and Geoffrey Whiteside added 97 yards on nine carries for the Midshipmen, who compiled 444 yards on the ground as a team.

Nate Sudfeld took over at quarterback after Indiana (1-1) went down 14-0 with starter Tre Roberson under center. Sudfeld completed 31-of-42 pass attempts for 363 yards and four touchdowns while being intercepted once. The Hoosiers outscored the Midshipmen 35-27 after Sudfeld came into the game.

Kofi Hughes hauled in six passes for 102 yards and a score and Ted Bolser had five catches for 56 yards and two touchdowns. In the game 11 different players had at least one catch for Indiana.

The Midshipmen rolled out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter by scoring touchdowns on each of their first two possessions. The first score was a one- yard touchdown run from Reynolds while the second came on a three-yard rush from Chris Swain.

Nick Sloan made good on a 23-yard field goal attempt, midway through the second quarter, to extend the Navy lead to 17-0.

After struggling out of the gate with a punt, turnover on downs and an interception on its first three drives, Indiana finally got on the scoreboard midway through the second quarter with a 45-yard touchdown pass from Sudfeld to Hughes.

Navy did not take long to respond. Just under three minutes later Noah Copeland scored on a run from three yards out.

Indiana was able to stay within striking distance thanks to a six-yard touchdown pass from Sudfeld to Bolser just before the half.

Both squads would score on their first possessions of the second half. Reynolds recorded a two-yard touchdown run first followed by a seven-yard run from Tevin Coleman for Indiana.

Reynolds would score yet again before the third quarter came to a close with a one-yard touchdown run that pushed Navy to a 38-21 advantage.

Indiana refused to go down quietly, however, as a seven-yard touchdown pass from Sudfeld to Shane Wynn early in the fourth quarter cut the Navy lead to 38-28.

Sloan hit his second field goal of the game with a 33-yard effort midway through the fourth quarter.

Sudfeld hooked up with Bolser yet again, this time with a 15-yard touchdown pass, as the Hoosiers pulled to within a six points with just under four minutes to play.

However Navy was able to run out the clock on its next possession to pick up the victory.
