Jonesboro, AR (Sports Network) - Ryan Aplin threw for 322 yards and three
touchdowns to lead the Arkansas State Red Wolves to a 37-14 win over the North
Texas Mean Green 37-14 in a Sun Belt Conference battle on Homecoming Night at
Aplin was 28-of-42 through the air as Arkansas State (6-2, 4-0 Sun Belt) won
its fifth straight. He also led his team in rushing with 69 yards. Josh Jarboe
caught seven balls for 96 yards, while Dwayne Frampton caught six passes for
77 yards and a score.
Lance Dunbar gained 90 yards on the ground and scored a touchdown for North
Texas (3-6, 2-3) on 21 carries. Andrew McNulty was 14-of-26 through the air
for 136 yards and a score,
The Red Wolves took a 7-0 lead when Frankie Jackson scored on a four-yard run
just over four minutes into the first quarter.
Bobby Zalud added a 48-yard field goal just inside the seven-minute mark to
make it a 10-0 game.
Neely Sullivent's 14-yard run extended the Arkansas State lead to 17-0 with
nine-and-a-half minutes left in the first half.
Aplin's 12-yard pass to Allen Muse extended the Red Wolves' lead to 24-0 less
than three minutes later.
Aplin hit Taylor Stockemer on a 12-yard throw with less than two minutes
remaining in the half.
North Texas got on the scoreboard when Dunbar scored from a yard out with
eight-and-a-half minutes left in the third quarter.
Aplin connected with Frampton for his third touchdown pass of the game, this
one from 10 yards out, with just under four minutes left in the game.
McNulty hit Breland Chancellor on a 23-yard scoring route with one minute
Arkansas State piled up 540 yards in total offense and averaged 6.8 yards per
