Final Score: North Texas 24, Indiana 21

Denton, TX (Sports Network) - Derek Thompson threw for 201 yards and three touchdowns as the North Texas Mean Green held on to defeat the Indiana Hoosiers, 24-21, in non-conference action at Apogee Stadium.

Thompson converted just 10-of-20 passes for the Mean Green (1-3) as they picked up their first win of the season. Lance Dunbar had a huge game for the hosts as he not only ran for 127 yards on 24 carries but also caught seven passes for another 152 yards and a score in the triumph.

The Hoosiers (1-3) were paced by Dusty Kiel who stepped in and converted 7- of-12 passes for 145 yards and a couple of late touchdowns in the setback.

Following a scoreless first quarter the Mean Green began a streak of 24 straight points as Thompson hooked up with Dunbar on an 83-yard scoring strike. Thompson then connected with Chris Bynes on a 17-yard scoring pass, followed by a 32-yard TD pass play between Thompson and Michael Outlaw to make the score 21-0 at the break.

In the third quarter kicker Zach Olen knocked through a 40-yard field goal to extend the lead to 24-0.

Finally, in the fourth quarter, the Hoosiers began to put forth a charge as Mark Murphy intercepted a pass and returned it 31 yards for a touchdown to cut the deficit to 24-7.

Kiel tossed touchdown passes of 44 and 67 yards to Cody Latimer and Kofi Hughes, respectively, in the final minutes but it was too little, too late as the visitors bowed in the three-point decision.

Indiana, which produced 404 yards of total offense, converted just 5-of-17 on third down on the night.
