Bowling Green, KY (Sports Network) - Lance Dunbar exploded for 215 yards and three touchdowns, as the North Texas Mean Green captured a 33-6 victory over the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in Sun Belt Conference play at L.T. Smith Stadium.

Brandin Byrd added 83 rushing yards on just five carries for North Texas (2-6, 2-3 SunBelt), while Riley Dodge finished with 89 passing yards on 11-of-20 passing.

Bobby Rainey led the way for WKU (1-7,1-3), as the tailback rushed for 100 yards on 23 attempts. Rainey also hauled in five passes for 57 yards in the loss.

After a scoreless first quarter Monte Merrick put the Hilltoppers on the board with a 37-yard field goal early in the second stanza.

North Texas responded on its next possession, driving 76 yards on 11 plays en route to an eight-yard touchdown run by Dunbar.

The Mean Green added a 48-yard field goal by Zach Olen in the final minute of the first half to take a 10-3 lead into the break.

Dunbar struck again early in the third frame with a three-yard touchdown scamper, pushing the Mean Green lead to 16-6.

Western Kentucky cut its deficit to 10 points less than a minute into the final frame as Merrick connected on a 46-yard kick.

North Texas responded with 17 straight points, beginning with a 24-yard field goal by Olen. The Mean Green went up 26-6 when Byrd broke free for a 53-yard touchdown run.

The Mean Green finished up the scoring in the final minute when Dunbar scored on a 10-yard run, giving North Texas a convincing 27-point victory.
