Moscow, ID (Sports Network) - Deonte Jackson ran for a pair of touchdowns as
he and the Idaho Vandals defeated the UNLV Rebels, 30-7, in non-conference
play at the Kibbie Dome.
Jackson carried the ball 11 times for the Vandals (2-1) and gained just 21
yards for a team that posted 122 yards on the ground in the triumph. Nathan
Enderle converted 15-of-27 passes for 210 yards and a score, shaking off an
interception and a pair of sacks.
The Rebels (0-3) had trouble with their offense all night, generating just 187
yards on 51 plays. Backup quarterback Caleb Herring managed to hit 4-of-7
passes for 87 yards and a score, but like starter Omar Clayton he was sacked
Idaho ripped off 30 straight points in the outing, beginning with a one-yard
TD run by Jackson with 8:29 to play in the first quarter. Kicker Trey Farquhar
hit the first of three field goals on the night with a 50-yard effort later in
Enderle capped a 12-play, 92-yard drive with a 17-yard scoring strike to
Daniel Hardy early in the second frame to make the score 17-0. Another one-
yard TD run by Jackson at the 6:10 mark of the second period gave Idaho a 24-0
lead at the break.
Farquhar made good on field goals of 44 and 27 yards in the third and four
quarters, respectively, to push the lead to 30-0 before Herring was able to
combine with Phillip Payne on a 25-yard TD pass play with just 1:19 remaining
in regulation to leave the Vandals with the 23-point win.
UNLV, which scored on its lone chance inside the red zone, converted only 4-
of-12 on third down and was flagged seven times for 56 yards in the losing
