Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Dion Lewis carried the ball 18 times for 65
yards and a touchdown to lead the Pittsburgh Panthers to a 20-3 win over the
Louisville Cardinals in a Big East Conference showdown at Heinz Field.
Signal caller Tino Sunseri controlled the Pittsburgh (5-3,3-0 Big East)
offense, completing 13-of-24 pass attempts for 123 yards.
The Cardinals (4-4, 1-2) were paced by Adam Froman who completed 13-of-22 pass
attempts for only 82 yards.
Louisville got on the board first, capping off its opening drive with a 35-
yard field goal by Chris Philpott
The Panthers answered on their ensuing drive when Dan Hutchins booted a 26-
yard field goal to tie the game 3-3.
Hutchins was responsible for the only points of the second quarter, connecting
on his second field goal of the day from 42 yards out to give Pittsburgh a
6-3 lead at the half.
The Panthers' offense took control of the game on the opening drive of the
third quarter, marching the football 71 yards for a touchdown. The final
blow came on a 21-yard touchdown run by Ray Graham.
Pittsburgh put the game away in the opening minute of the fourth quarter
with a one-yard plunge from Dion Lewis.
The Panthers were stingy on defense, limiting the Cardinals to 182 yards of
total offense while forcing two turnovers in the win.
