NCAA Game Summary - Miami-Florida at Georgia Tech

(Saturday, November 13th)

Final Score: Miami 35, Georgia Tech 10

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Freshman Stephen Morris threw for 230 yards and a touchdown, as the Miami Hurricanes pulled away for a 35-10 win over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Atlantic Coast Conference play at Bobby Dodd Stadium.

Morris was making his second start in place of injured starter Jacory Harris (concussion) for the Hurricanes (7-3, 5-2 ACC), who have now won four of their last five games. Leonard Hankerson had three catches for 132 yards and tied Michael Irvin's school record with his 11th touchdown grab of the season.

Georgia Tech (5-5, 3-4) has lost three straight for the first time since 2006 and still needs one more win to become bowl eligible. Sophomore Tevin Washington threw for 101 yards and ran for 122 in place of Josh Nesbitt, who suffered a season-ending arm injury in last week's loss to Virginia Tech.

Miami opened the game with a 10-play, 88-yard drive, which resulted in a 12- yard touchdown run by Lamar Miller.

The Hurricanes pushed their lead to 14-0 on Damien Berry's five-yard touchdown run at the 4:13 mark of the first quarter.

Georgia Tech got on the board with a 38-yard field goal from Scott Blair with 13:05 to play in the second quarter, and the score would remain 14-3 at the half.

The Yellow Jackets opened the second half with a six-play scoring drive, capped by Washington's 22-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Cone to make it a 14-10 game.

But Miami answered right back on the very first play of the ensuing drive, as Morris hooked up with Hankerson for a 79-yard scoring strike.

The Hurricanes extended their lead to 28-10 on Mike James' seven-yard touchdown run at the 1:39 mark of the third quarter, which came after an 11- play, 86-yard drive.

Graig Cooper closed out the scoring with a three-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter.

Miami racked up 507 yards of total offense, including 277 (6.0 ypc) on the ground.
