NCAA Game Summary - Georgia Tech at Wake Forest

Winston-Salem, NC (Sports Network) - Joshua Nesbitt connected with Correy Earls for a nine-yard touchdown pass in the final seconds of regulation to give the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets a thrilling, 24-20 victory over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in an ACC bout at BB&T Field.

Nesbitt threw for two touchdowns and 130 yards for Georgia Tech (3-2, 2-1 ACC), but also led the ground attack with 72 yards on 26 carries.

As for the Demon Deacons (2-3, 1-2), they were paced by Josh Adams, who rushed for 101 yards and one score on 20 attempts.

The Yellow Jackets struck first in this matchup, as Scott Blair nailed a 47- yard field goal.

The Demon Deacons responded later in the frame when Jimmy Newman connected on a 20-yard kick.

A one-yard touchdown run by Brandon Pendergrass with just over a minute remaining in the first half gave the Deacons a 10-3 advantage.

However, less than a minute later, Blair connected on a 45-yard field goal, sending Georgia Tech into the break down 10-6.

Wake Forest extended its lead in the final seconds of the third quarter when Adams scored on a three-yard run.

The Yellow Jackets saved their best for the last quarter, as Georgia Tech scored 18 fourth quarter points.

Georgia Tech opened the stanza with a 42-yard field goal by Blair and followed that with a 20-yard touchdown pass from Nesbitt to Embry Peeples. Georgia Tech tied the game at 17 apiece when Nesbitt ran in the team's two-point conversion.

Wake Forest regained the lead with just over two minutes remaining in regulation, as Newman nailed a 26-yard kick.

However, the Yellow Jackets were led down the field by Nesbitt, who eventually put his team on top with his touchdown pass to Earls.
