NCAA Game Summary - Central Michigan at Navy

(Saturday, November 13th)

Final Score: Navy 38, Central Michigan 37

Annapolis, MD (Sports Network) - Kriss Proctor ran for a career-best 201 yards and a touchdown, as the Navy Midshipmen survived the Central Michigan Chippewas for a 38-37 win at Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

A backup, Proctor got the call in place for normal starter Ricky Dobbs, who sat out after suffering a concussion last week at East Carolina. Alexander Teich added 53 yards and two scores on the ground for Navy (7-3), which rolled up 437 rushing yards on the day.

CMU (3-8) was led by Ryan Radcliff, who passed for 394 yards and three touchdowns on 36-of-58 attempts. Cody Wilson brought in 13 of those passes for 126 yards and a score, while David Blackburn made four catches for 66 yards and two touchdowns.

Navy started the scoring with an 18-yard touchdown run by Aaron Santiago just under six minutes into the game.

The Chippewas countered several minutes later behind a 15-yard touchdown pass from Radcliff to Blackburn.

The Mids went back on top just before the end of the first quarter with a 16- yard touchdown run by Teich.

Less than two minutes into the second quarter CMU tied it up with a three-yard touchdown run from Zurlon Tipton.

Teich, though, powered his way to the end zone from three yards out to push Navy back in front.

A 15-yard scoring strike from Radcliff to Blackburn and a 41-yard field goal from David Harman gave CMU a 24-21 edge at the intermission.

Navy regained the lead with a pair of third-quarter touchdowns runs, one from four yards out by Proctor and another from six yards away by John Howell.

Midway through the final quarter, Navy extended its lead to 38-24 behind a 35- yard field goal from Joe Buckley.

The Chippewas, though, refused to go away and cut the deficit on a one-yard touchdown run from Tipton with just over three minutes left.

With four seconds left, Radcliff hooked up with Cody Wilson on a seven-yard scoring strike to bring CMU within a point. The Chippewas elected to go for the win, but Radcliff's two-point conversion pass fell incomplete and Navy took the victory.
