NCAA Game Summary - Baylor at Rice

Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Robert Griffin threw for 268 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Baylor Bears to a 30-13 victory over the Rice Owls in a non-conference contest.

Kendall Wright recorded seven catches for 106 yards and a touchdown in the win for Baylor (3-1).

Nick Fanuzzi tossed a pair of costly interceptions in defeat for Rice (1-3).

Rice grabbed an early lead midway through the first quarter with a 42-yard field goal by Chris Boswell.

Baylor took a 7-3 advantage with just over three minutes left in the opening frame, as Griffin tossed a six-yard touchdown pass to Jerod Monk.

Midway through the second quarter, Griffin threw a 40-yard scoring strike to Wright to push the Baylor lead to 14-3. Aaron Jones then hit field goals of 33 and 20 yards before halftime, and the Bears led 20-3 at intermission.

Boswell hit a 43-yard field goal with just over 11 minutes remaining in the third quarter, but Baylor answered with a 46-yard touchdown pass from Griffin to Josh Gordon. After 45 minutes of action, the Bears owned a 27-6 edge.

Rice cut its deficit to 27-13 with just under six minutes remaining in the tilt, as Sam McGuffie ran 11 yards to paydirt. Unfortunately for the Owls, they weren't able to score again, and Jones closed out the scoring for the Bears with a 37-yard field goal.

Baylor racked up 456 total yards in the clash while limiting Rice to 296 yards.
