NCAA Game Summary - Louisiana at Ole Miss

Oxford, MS (Sports Network) - Brandon Bolden scored two touchdowns on the ground and a third through the air as he and the Ole Miss Rebels topped the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, 43-21, in non-conference action at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

Bolden carried the ball 18 times for a team-best 136 yards and also caught four passes for another 80 yards for the Rebels (4-5) as the snapped a three- game slide. Quarterbacks Jeremiah Masoli and Nathan Stanley combined to convert 11-of-22 passes for 180 yards and a score.

The Ragin' Cajuns (2-7) were paced by Brad McGuire who converted 7-of-21 passes for 139 yards and a score, but he was also picked off twice and sacked four times on the night. McGuire led the squad on the ground as well with 42 yards and a TD on 14 carries, but still the team suffered its fifth loss in as many tries.

Louisiana actually scored the first points of the game as McGuire took the opening possession and moved the ball 73 yards on seven plays, culminating with a 27-yard TD strike to Aaron Spikes to give the visitors a brief 7-0 advantage.

From there the Rebels ripped off 27 points in a row, starting with a two-yard touchdown run by Bolden on the ensuing possession. Bryson Rose then knocked through a 24-yard field goal for Ole Miss, the first of five conversions for the kicker on the night. Masoli added a six-yard TD run later in the frame and Bolden then reeled in a 15-yard TD toss from Masoli to make the score 24-7 at the end of one period of play.

Rose knocked through a 30-yard field goal at the 8:03 mark of the second quarter, capping a 10-play, 57-yard drive and give the Rebels a commanding advantage.

Louisiana then tallied back-to-back TDs in the period, first with a three-yard TD run by McGuire and followed by a 93-yard fumble return for a touchdown by Melvin White, cutting the deficit to just six points at 27-21.

Before the first half could expire Rose made good on a 30-yard field goal to push the Rebels lead to 30-21.

Rose added field goals of 27 and 20 yards in the third and fourth quarters, respectively, while Bolden hit the end zone on a three-yard run with less than a minute remaining in regulation to give the hosts the 22-point margin of victory.

The Ragin' Cajuns controlled the ball for just over 23 minutes, generating a mere 215 yards of offense on the night.
