Report: Sumlin gets raise at A&M

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Texas A&M and head football coach Kevin Sumlin have agreed to a new contract through the 2017 season that includes a raise.

The Dallas Morning News obtained a copy of the contract that Sumlin agreed to earlier this winter and signed on Monday. The new deal will pay Sumlin $3.1 million in 2013, an increase from his reported $2 million for 2012.

Sumlin, and Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel, led the Aggies to a record of 11-2, including a 41-13 Cotton Bowl victory over Oklahoma last year. It was Sumlin's first season in College Station, taking over at A&M after spending four years as head coach at Houston.

The new deal includes bonuses if the Aggies win the SEC title, reach certain bowl games and capture the national championship, and also provides for bonuses for conference or national coaching honors.
