Scott Haynes, College Football Senior Editor

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Below is a compilation of The Sports Network's predictions for the top games in Week 7 of the college football season. (Detailed previews for each game can be found by following the "Top 25 scoreboard" link within the FBS college football section of sportsnetwork.com)

(21) Florida State (4-1) at Wake Forest (3-2), Thursday, 7:30 pm

Both teams come into the game with a full head of steam and that should make for a close contest. FSU, however, has the edge on both sides of the ball, especially on defense, where it should be able to dominate for the victory.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Florida State 23, Wake Forest 13

- Ralph Lauro

(16) Hawaii (6-0) at San Jose State (3-3), Friday, 8 pm

The nation's top scoring offense may have some issues on the defensive side of the ball, but as long as Colt Brennan has his way the Spartans won't have a prayer in this meeting.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Hawaii 56, San Jose State 24

- Gregg Xenakes

Kent State (3-3) at (3) Ohio State (6-0), Saturday, 12 pm

OSU is the obvious pick here, and behind its balanced attack and stingy defense, it should have no trouble running away with this one.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Ohio State 48, Kent State 7

- Ralph Lauro

(12) Virginia Tech (5-1) at Duke (1-5), Saturday, 12 pm

The Duke offense is starting to wake up, but against one of the nation's toughest defensive units, expect the Blue Devils to go dormant again in what should be a lopsided affair for the Hokies.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Virginia Tech 41, Duke 10

- Scott Haynes

U-C-F (3-2) at (5) South Florida (5-0), Saturday, 12 pm

USF wasn't all that impressive last weekend, but nevertheless, it still picked up a road win. Now back at home, expect the Bulls to refocus and use their tremendous defense to generate turnovers, and in the process, remain undefeated.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: South Florida 28, UCF 17

- Ralph Lauro

(18) Illinois (5-1) at Iowa (2-4), Saturday, 12:05 pm

Keep an eye on Illinois running back Rashard Mendenhall, as he is a big-time NFL prospect. The Illini are playing with a wealth of confidence, but expect the Hawkeyes to pull an upset.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Iowa 24, Illinois 20

- Pat Taggart

Baylor (3-3) at (20) Kansas (5-0), Saturday, 12:30 pm

Kansas is coming off a huge win and it should have no trouble building off it this weekend. The Jayhawks are simply the better team from top to bottom and they should be able to slow down the Bears' one-dimensional offense for the victory.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Kansas 38, Baylor 17

- Ralph Lauro

(23) Texas (4-2) at Iowa State (1-5), Saturday, 12:30 pm

Texas has an outstanding chance to get back in the win column this weekend. Iowa State is not a good football team, and an upset on Saturday is unlikely.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Texas 34, Iowa State 13

- Pat Taggart

(25) Tennessee (3-2) at Mississippi State (4-2), Saturday, 2:30 pm

Mississippi State remains one of the worst teams in the SEC despite the solid record. Expect the Vols to walk out of Starkville with a victory this weekend.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Tennessee 27, Mississippi State 17

- Pat Taggart

(7) South Carolina (5-1) at North Carolina (2-4), Saturday, 3:30 pm

In this rivalry game, both teams figure to play with some added energy. North Carolina will likely keep things close, especially with the help of the home crowd, but South Carolina is the better team and will win.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: South Carolina 24, North Carolina 20

- Pat Taggart

Arizona (2-4) at (10) U-S-C (4-1), Saturday, 3:30 pm

The Wildcats had little chance of winning this game before USC lost focus a week ago. Rest assured, Pete Carroll will have that focus fine-tuned this week, as the Trojans make light work of Arizona, with or without their quarterback at the helm.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: USC 40, Arizona 13

- Scott Haynes

Washington State (2-4) at (9) Oregon (4-1), Saturday, 3:30 pm

The Cougars will find no relief in Eugene this weekend. The Ducks will bounce back from the loss to Cal, with a shootout victory over WSU.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Oregon 37, Washington State 27

- Scott Haynes

(19) Wisconsin (5-1) at Penn State (4-2), Saturday, 3:30 pm

How the Badgers respond now that their lengthy winning streak is over will go a long way to determining the final outcome of this one. Expect UW coach Bret Bielema to have his troops focused on the task at hand, and while the Nittany Lions are going to fight tooth and nail, Wisconsin will get back in the win column.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Wisconsin 23, Penn State 17

- Frank Haynes

(1) L-S-U (6-0) at (17) Kentucky (5-1), Saturday, 3:30 pm

Andre Woodson is certainly eager to put the shaky performance against South Carolina behind him, but it is hard to imagine the standout signal-caller rebounding against LSU. Expect the Tigers to pull this one out on the road.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: LSU 30, Kentucky 20

- Pat Taggart

(4) Boston College (6-0) at Notre Dame (1-5), Saturday, 3:30 pm

Go with the Eagles in this tilt, as they are a much more complete team than Notre Dame. Sure, the Fighting Irish may play with a renewed sense of confidence, but they are simply overmatched this weekend.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Boston College 33, Notre Dame 17

- Pat Taggart

(24) Georgia (4-2) at Vanderbilt (3-2), Saturday, 6 pm

Expect this game to be close, as Vanderbilt will feed off the home crowd. Still, go with the Bulldogs, as Matt Stafford will outplay Chris Nickson.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Georgia 24, Vanderbilt 17

- Pat Taggart

(11) Missouri (5-0) at (6) Oklahoma (5-1), Saturday, 6:30 pm

Typically, teams schedule a pushover opponent for Homecoming, and while Oklahoma probably figured that Missouri would be just that when the schedule was made, the Tigers are more than capable of putting up a fight in this one. Still, expect Bob Stoops' troops to take care of business.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Oklahoma 41, Missouri 24

- Pat Taggart

Oregon State (3-3) at (2) California (5-0), Saturday, 7 pm

The Beavers have the offensive weapons to score on California, but the Golden Bears have more firepower and should be able to post a double-digit win here.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: California 37, Oregon State 21

- Scott Haynes

Louisville (3-3) at (15) Cincinnati (6-0), Saturday, 7 pm

The Cardinals have been simply dreadful on defense this season and that will likely be their downfall this weekend once again. The Bearcats have shown they can move the ball on anyone and they should be able to slow down Brian Brohm just enough to hold on for the win this weekend.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Cincinnati 40, Louisville 34

- Ralph Lauro

(22) Auburn (4-2) at Arkansas (3-2), Saturday, 7:45 pm

Felix Jones is the nation's most underrated football player, as he is a threat to score every time he touches the ball on offense and special teams. With Jones and Darren McFadden carrying the load, the Razorbacks will get by the Tigers.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Arkansas 27, Auburn 20

- Pat Taggart

Washington (2-3) at (14) Arizona State (6-0), Saturday, 10:15 pm

The Sun Devils are red-hot at the moment, but they will be tested by a desperate Washington club this weekend. Still, Rudy Carpenter is having a great year and his strong arm should have ASU undefeated heading into the toughest portion of its schedule.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Arizona State 31, Washington 24

- Ralph Lauro
