Roughriders extend Chamblin through 2017

Regina, SK (SportsNetwork.com) - The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced on Thursday that the contract of head coach Corey Chamblin was extended through the 2017 season.

"Corey is an integral part of what we do as a team on-field. He is a well- respected, intelligent coach that has high expectations for his players," stated Riders GM Brendan Taman. "Keeping him on our sidelines was an important component for our club moving forward."

Chamblin heads into his third season at the helm as the man who leads the defending Grey Cup champions. Saskatchewan went 11-7, then took down British Columbia, Calgary and Hamilton in turn during the postseason to claim their first title since 2007.

The 36-year-old native of Birmingham, Alabama owns a 19-17 record as a CFL bench boss.
