Argos cut All-Star DT Mitchell

Toronto, ON ( - The Toronto Argonauts released two-time CFL All-Star defensive tackle Khalif Mitchell Monday after only one season with the organization.

The Argonauts acquired Mitchell from the BC Lions prior to the 2013 campaign, though he initially stated he would not report to his new team's training camp due to displeasure over the trade. The four-year pro ultimately decided not to hold out, however, and led Toronto with five sacks while recording 32 tackles in 16 games to earn all-league honors.

Mitchell was also named a CFL All-Star in his second season with the Lions in 2011, compiling six sacks and 33 tackles while helping BC to a Grey Cup win that season.
