Bombers add DB Alexander
Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed defensive back Donovan Alexander.
Alexander spent the past three seasons with Edmonton, registering 121 tackles with seven interceptions in 51 regular-season games and three playoff games.
The Winnipeg native played in back-to-back Grey Cup games in 2009 and '10 with Saskatchewan.
"Donovan is a veteran, Canadian player, who we feel can compete for a starting spot in our secondary," said Bombers general manager Kyle Walters in a statement Tuesday. "We are very pleased to add not only a talented football player, but also someone who grew up in Winnipeg and understands the importance of Blue Bomber football in our community. It was a great fit for both parties."
Alexander was originally selected by Montreal in the third round of the 2007 draft.
