Argonauts bring back OL Smith

Toronto, ON ( - The Toronto Argonauts have re-signed veteran offensive lineman Wayne Smith to a two-year contract, the team announced Wednesday.

Smith, an Ontario native and the No. 1 overall pick of the 2004 CFL Draft, has spent the past two seasons with the Argos and appeared in 16 games with four starts last year.

The 11-year CFL vet has played in 132 overall games with Hamilton (2004-06, 2011), Saskatchewan (2007-10) and Toronto and been a part of two Grey Cup champions during his lengthy career.

"I am thrilled that my final professional football contract will be with my hometown team because I wouldn't want to finish my career anywhere else," said Smith in a statement.

Toronto also officially signed its 2013 first-round pick, offensive lineman Matt Sewell, to a three-year deal. The eighth overall selection of the 2013 draft, Sewell did not play last season while pursuing an MBA at his alma mater, McMaster University.
