Blue Bombers land WR Moore
Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have reeled in one of the biggest catches of this year's CFL free agent market, with the team reaching a deal with former BC Lions standout Nick Moore on Tuesday.
Moore, whose 73 catches and 1,105 receiving yards last season both ranked third in the league, signed a two-year contract according to TSN.ca.
"This is a big move for our offense as not only a veteran presence, but an immediate playmaker who can help groom some of our rookie receivers," said Blue Bombers head coach Mike O'Shea. "Nick was someone our offensive staff really wanted, and I'm thrilled we were able to bring him in."
Moore initially joined the Lions as a practice player in 2010 and has spent the past three seasons on BC's active roster, totaling 110 catches for 1,554 yards and nine touchdowns over 29 overall games. The 27-year-old American eclipsed the 100-yard mark four times during his breakthrough 2013 campaign.
The Toledo product joins a Winnipeg receiving corps that will also have back Rory Kohlert, re-signed by the Bombers earlier Tuesday. Kohlert had 45 catches for 493 yards last season.
