GAME NOTES: The Ohio University Bobcats put their perfect Mid-American Conference record on the line as they host the Eastern Michigan Eagles at the Convocation Center on Wednesday.

This will be the 67th meeting in history between these schools on the hardwood and the only regular season matchup of the 2012-13 campaign. Ohio holds a 43-23 all-time series lead, but the Eagles held the lead throughout the entire game on their way to a 68-55 decision over the Bobcats in last season's only encounter.

The Eagles are 10-10 on the campaign after submitting a record-setting defensive display in their 42-25 victory over Northern Illinois over the weekend in Ypsilanti. For the game, the Huskies shot just 8-of-61 from the floor (.131) and 1-of-33 from beyond the arc (.003) to tie the lowest field- goal percentage in NCAA history since the beginning of the shot clock era in 1986. Coach Rob Murphy's team has lost all eight of its true road games, but it is 10-2 at home including a huge win over Purdue. Senior guard Derek Thompson is leading the way offensively for EMU, tallying 11.2 points per game. Pacing the Eagles in rebounding is junior center Da'Shonte Riley who is posting 6.1 boards and 2.3 blocks per game.

EMU managed to climb back to .500 thanks to its unmatched ability to stifle its opposition. It is leading the MAC in scoring defense at just 59.4 ppg. The Eagles' defensive prowess allowed them to get away with a scoring output of just 42 points versus NIU. Although the Huskies shot much worse from the floor, EMU hit just 13-of-35 (37.1 percent) of its field goal tries and had 10 assists to 15 turnovers in the win. Glenn Bryant tallied 10 points, but was the only player for either side in double figures.

The Bobcats improved to 6-0 in conference action for the first time since 1973-74 with a 69-68 decision over Kent State on the road on Saturday. The Bobcats went 28-of-56 from the field as senior point guard D.J. Cooper drained clutch free throws in the final minute en route to a team-high 23 points which he accompanied with five assists. The 2013 Cousy Award Finalist is one of the best passers in college basketball and already has MAC's all-time assists record. On the season, Ohio has won seven in a row to rise to a 15-5 mark overall.

Ohio has dominated its MAC foes this season and owns a +10.0 scoring margin through six games. The Bobcats have shown they are a very dangerous team from beyond the arc by hitting a conference leading total of 47-3-pointers in their six league games. Cooper is pacing the Bobcats with 14.6 ppg, Reggie Keely is second in scoring with 11.5 ppg, and Walter Offutt is a close third at 11.0 ppg. As a team, the Bobcats lead the nation with 19.3 assists per game.

EMU's brilliant defensive display will soon be forgotten. Cooper and company are much more adept on the offensive end than NIU and the Eagles will not be able to match the Bobcats, who will be out to avenge last season's loss. Ohio is very tough in its own building and the visitors are terrible on the road.
